Body Camera Footage Shows Paul Pelosi Hammer Attack

The San Francisco Police released the body cam footage of the hammer attack on Paul Pelosi:

PAUL PELOSI: “Hi, guys.”POLICE OFFICER 2: “How you doing?”PAUL PELOSI: “How are you?”POLICE OFFICER 2: “What’s going on, man?”DEPAPE: “Everything’s good.”PAUL PELOSI: “Hi.”POLICE OFFICER: “Dropp [sic] the hammer!”DEPAPE: “Um, nope.”

Then the attack happens:

The footage, released Friday, shows officers approach Paul and Nancy’s home. Paul opens the door, standing next to his attacker, both men have their hands on the hammer in an effort to control it.The attacker breaks away, holding the hammer, and immediately strikes Paul in the head with the weapon. Both men fall to the ground as police move into the house and take the attacker into custody. Paul is totally out cold from the impact.

The attack does not completely match up with the NBC report released after the attack. Pelosi did not leave immediately because he held the hammer with DePape. It looks like he’s trying to take it away from him. Plus it’s DePape who told the police that everything is good. I’m wondering if Pelosi was in a state of shock and tried not to do anything to cause DePape to rage, which could explain his calm manner and the cryptic 911 call.

David Depape faces federal charges of assault, attempted homicide, and attempted kidnapping. Stacey wrote:

DePape was reportedly looking for the House Speaker when he broke in, intending to hold her hostage until she admitted the “truth” – and if not, he would break “her kneecaps.” He had a “history of drug use, psychosis, and homelessness,” and political leanings all over the map. He once expressed support for the Black Lives Matter movement and gay rights, while allegedly posting conspiracy theories about the 2020 presidential election.

But overall…the footage doesn’t answer many questions.
