Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts issued a stay on order to end Title 42.
“Upon consideration of the application of counsel for the applicants, it is ordered that the November 15, 2022 order of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, case No. 1:21-cv-00100, is hereby stayed pending further order of the undersigned or of the Court,” wrote Roberts.
Roberts also ordered, “a response to the application to be filed on or before Tuesday, December 20, 2022, by 5 p.m. (EST).”
This is an administrative move, not on the merits.

Maybe the prospect of several times the 15,000 illegals bum rushing the country a day was a little too much for someone?
Roberts doing this is surprising. Maybe he realized that his attempt to make the court look legitimate to the left went too far and he is now attempting to make the court look legitimate to the right.
The problem is, that if you are having to do things to make a court or indeed any institution in a society seem “legitimate” to any major segment of that society; that means that the institution no longer is automatically accepted AS being legitimate, Which is where most of our governing institutions are. If they are not accorded automatic legitimacy by the population, that society is in bad shape and on the verge of collapsing.
I am sure that the Professor and the other contributors have noted in the comments that belief in the lack of legitimacy is a constant.

Dont get too excited…its procedural and I would hazard a guess that when a Democrat is President this will be removed pretty quickly (like the moment the Govt replies).
