Republican Lawyer Harmeet Dhillon Running for Republican National Committee Chair

Republican Lawyer Harmeet Dhillon Running for Republican National Committee Chair

“Republicans are tired of losing and I think that we need to radically reshape our leadership in order to win”

As we mentioned recently, the GOP is forming a new board to examine the underwhelming results of the 2022 midterms. Additionally, some Republican voters are looking for new leadership in the party.

Some first suggested Lee Zeldin, then MyPillow creator Mike Lindell floated himself as a candidate. Now, Republican lawyer Harmeet Dhillon is throwing her hat into the ring.

The Daily Caller reports:

‘Stepping Up’: Harmeet Dhillon Announces Bid To Replace McDaniel As RNC Chair

Lawyer Harmeet Dhillon announced a challenge to Ronna McDaniel to chair the Republican National Committee on Fox News Monday night.

“I am going to announce tonight that actually I am going to run for RNC chair and the reason is that, to play off a famous catch phrase, Republicans are tired of losing and I think that we need to radically reshape our leadership in order to win,” Dhillon told host Tucker Carlson. “We can’t keep running elections like we did in the 90s and 2000s.”

“We really have to modernize to compete with the Democrats, dollar for dollar in the ways they fundraise, the ways they deliver their ballots to the ballot boxes, our messaging needs to be fresh and positive and not just reactive to news cycles and what the Democrats are doing,” Dhillon continued. “And I think that the party needs to realize that the party has become a populist party, the base of the party demands populist messages that speak to them.”

Watch her announcement below:

Lee Zeldin might still be running as well. He is set to announce his decision in a couple of days.

Breitbart News reported:

Lee Zeldin ‘Seriously Considering’ Run for RNC Chair, Will Announce Decision December 7

Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) announced over the weekend that he has “seriously” considered the pleas to run for Republican National Committee (RNC) chair and will announce his decision on December 7, after the Georgia runoff election.

“I’ve been seriously considering your requests to run for RNC Chair. I will announce my decision at 8am EST on December 7th, waiting until Wednesday to keep the focus on the Georgia runoff,” the former New York gubernatorial candidate said, urging those in the Peach State to get out and vote for Republican Herschel Walker:

This is an important role and the person who fills it should be chosen carefully. If you doubt me, just watch below. Would you believe this man was once RNC chairman?

Former RNC chairman Michael Steele is the RINO’s RINO.

ABR, anyone but Rona. Serial failure.

As for Ronna McDaniel..”If you really love me, you’ll commit suicide.”

“And I think that the party needs to realize that the party has become a populist party, the base of the party demands populist messages that speak to them.”

The RINOs will be wetting themselves if she wins.

Which is reason enough to hope she wins.

The country club, chamber of commerce type r have had their way for a long time. The ground has been shifting under their feet for about a decade and a half to the arrival to the point of seriously threatening their control.

They are mostly concerned with economic issues aka taxes and occasionally spending. They don’t want to upset their economic Apple cart by taking a firm position on social issues. Which is sorta understandable to a degree.

The problem is they refuse to pick the low hanging fruit off the social issues tree. Opposing all age drag shows, indoctrination of kids, CRT, trans for minors isn’t at all controversial in the real world outside of corporate HR and govt agencies. Nor is supporting parental rights, a secure border and less intrusive bureaucracy.

They can adapt to the current realities or perish politically. Either Dillon now that she threw her hat in or Zeldin would be a vast improvement over McDaniel.

Whitewall in reply to CommoChief. | December 6, 2022 at 12:09 pm

Agreed. The country club Rockefeller types hated the social issues, to messy you know. The wives of these male pols hated the social issues worse as membership in all the in clubs in DC mattered more. America is not rotting away from the inside because the top tax rate is a few % higher or lower.

Like what “I am going to lower Jeff Bezos’ taxes; increase the military budget, revoke the healthcare subsidies you currently receive increasing insurance prices tenfold and run enormous unsustainable deficits that will hurt your great grandchildren while revoking subsidies you are currently receiving”?

Fake populism is not the way to go; if you want a populist message it needs to be accompanied by populist policies.

Over 60% of Americans pay no federal tax; and out of the remainder most of them receive more in benefits from the federal government than they receive.

Our military budget is by far the largest of any nation since WW2.

I think we should have a discussion on real populism; and drop the fake populism, we aren’t fooling anyone.

Social issues are what hold up the Republican Party now.

Whitewall in reply to Danny. | December 7, 2022 at 6:53 am

“Social issues are what hold up the Republican Party now”
He who owns the culture controls the politics. Democrats own the culture and it shows. Until we begin to turn the culture, meaning social issues, we will only move pieces on the chessboard. Recipients of Federal largess will continue to receive them until it is no longer possible. Federal transfer payments do not objectify children, miseducate school children, cause schisms in Christian churches, use race theology to hasten racial strife and many other deliberate problems.

Legislation by itself won’t change culture problems. People living daily in a sick culture make changes. Only then will politics follow.

Danny in reply to Whitewall. | December 7, 2022 at 7:25 pm

I 100% support fighting on the social issues, those are the issues I care about and am passionate about. That however is not populism. Glenn Youngkin got into office based entirely on social issues and he is many things but a populist he is most definitely not.

I am not a fan of fake populism because it is fake and peoples patience for it is wearing thin.

We are not England 1190, King John is not our president, federal taxes are not oppressive or unreasonable, and we are not going to appeal to the bottom 60% of the population by advocating we will cut taxes for other people and revoke their benefits.

The main issue with trying to appeal as a populist is you need to deliver and if what you deliver is a tax cut for someone else (again most Americans pay no federal taxes) trying to remove benefits they already receive, and blowing out military spending in a way we won’t be able to conceivably pay for……again people will turn.

To use populism we need to address a lot of our old orthodoxies and be ready for major changes.

Hard pass on this one,

Harmeet Dhillon is a tremendously good attorney, thinker, and speaker. She’s devoted to the defense and promotion of conservative causes. I would bet that she could convince exceptionally strong individuals to vie for public office throughout all tiers of government. This is the only way to reverse our losses in elections that are so close that it is infuriating to accept. Money only goes so far.

Harmeet made some questionable decisions in AZ , not appealing the court’s decision NOT to allow the voting to continue for 3 hours secondary to all the machine problems I. maricopo cty.
Imagine that happening in a black community
I was not impressed by her and she literally abandoned Kari in the end.

Time to start at the head of the snake.

No point expecting the shallow, spineless n opportunistic to do something because it’s right. Make doing the right thing their best, or at least least bad, alternative, for getting what they want.

The Screaming D’s work this way; the fully-articulated approach goes back at least to Lenin. How else was The Sea Lion of the Senate gonna feed on Waitress Sammiches? Becoming President Boyfriend was Barack Obama’s path to unmasked partying on Martha’s vineyard, and making his books best sellers. How else would The Dowager Empress have been able to steal White House furniture on the way out, one presumes to fence for cash.

God knows only their positions in govt get Nadler, Pelosi, Shiff-for-brains the attention they so crave.

If somebody wants in on the goodies under the R brand, they gotta do what we need, starting with win.

Which is why our question should be “what exactly is Dhillon planning to do differently”, and same goes for Zeldin.

BierceAmbrose in reply to Danny. | December 7, 2022 at 1:43 pm

      Yep.

Show me a strategy — a plausible theory of victory that guides operational decisions and tactics.

Show me execution — on point, on execution, viable results, every time.

Show me stamina — every time, every day, comin back as if it’s the first.

Show me intelligence — both kinds: knowin what’s actually goin on, and adapting to work with it.

Show me realpolitik — just as reality-based as the international version. Start with “neocon / not”, “true conservative / not”, “uniparty tool / not”, “Trump endorsed / not” “right gender, color, tastes in boot-knocking / not”. Your job is to win the game as it is.

Leave it to The Dowager Empress to list the 87,000 things she coulda done better, different, or at all, and she’d-a won, except she calls them unfair stuff that kept her from winning. The game isn’t to do what you like doin, and expect to win. The game is to do what’ll lead to winning, whether you like doin it or not. (It’s easier if you like it, but no matter.) Herself can continue her grift after losing, even extended to The Politi-Spawn. Insurgents gotta win for real to stay in the game at all.

Harmeet Dhillon is a fighter. She would be a great choice.

That comment is not intended to denigrate any other candidate. For all I know, Ronna McDaniel might have done at least as well as any RNC chair would have done. But we’ve had less than great results over the last two years and making a change is, to me, more likely to improve than hurt the Republican campaigns.

RNC is a small club and if you’re not in it, you’re not getting elected leader. The purpose of the RNC is to collect money from donors and distribute the money to the approved R candidates. If I’m wrong please enlighten me.

There are several country clubs near me and I do not belong to any of them. So The chances of me being elected president of any country club is Zero.

The GOP must recruit and support quality people to run for office on every level. This past cycle shows weakness. While choosing celebrities may have an edge with name recognition, they can come up short on substance and have their own baggage. Memet Oz and Herschel Walker, may be quality people, but were for the most part, carperbaggers. They both lost closely contested elections to deeply flawed Democrats.

      r2468 in reply to Romey. | December 7, 2022 at 8:52 am

The Dems support their deeply flawed candidates and win. Kari Lake doesn’t fit into your argument and she lost. How about Lisa M in AK vs the people’s choice in the primary. Seems like the Dems interfere with the R primaries. It’s not that easy.

        Danny in reply to r2468. | December 7, 2022 at 7:29 pm

        Democrats have

        1. Big tech

        2. Corporate Media

        3. Academia

        4. Support for narrative from government institutions making those narratives more plausible

        5. Hollywood and the entertainment industry

        6. Corporate America

They could afford having baggage trains we can’t.

      r2468 in reply to Romey. | December 7, 2022 at 9:03 am

I remember Loeffler GA and McSally AZ. Those were GOPe approved but not popular enough to win.
