On Saturday, we asked LI readers to select their preference for the 2024 Republican presidential primaries.
The results reveal an overwhelming preference among readers for Florida governor Ron DeSantis: 61.73% (1,058 votes).
The runner-up is former president Donald Trump: 28.88% (495 votes).
With these results, it seems the big takeaway is that, should Governor DeSantis decide to enter the race, it’s a two-person race. No one else comes close to garnering the support needed to be successful in the GOP primary. At this point, anyway, two years out. Who knows what can or will happen between now and the primaries (or our next reader preference poll)?

It’s a somewhat surprising result. Who would have guessed that Nikki Haley would come in third (however distant) or that Texas governor Greg Abbott would tie for last with Liz let’s find a country to bomb Cheney?
