Democrats Get Reminded That Before George Santos, There Was Joe Biden

“I’ve done some dumb things, and I’ll do dumb things again. I’ve done some dumb things as senator, and I’ve done some dumb things as a lawyer. Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve been dumb,” then-Sen. Joe Biden said during his failed 1988 presidential campaign over allegations he was a serial plagiarist.

https://twitter.com/newsbusters/status/1607834773107392518

Tuesday night on Tucker Carlson’s program, former Democratic Congresswoman and 2020 presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard grilled Rep.-elect George Santos (R-N.Y.) over what he admitted were lies he told on the campaign trail about who he is and his educational and family background.

In my opinion, Santos did not come off smelling like a rose during their lengthy exchange, but here’s the video so readers can decide for themselves what to think:

Over the last week or so, as questions continued to swirl about Santos following a New York Times exposé that raised questions as to the truthfulness of some of Santos’ statements – including his claim that he is Jewish, some on the left suggested or insinuated that politically speaking there was no precedent for the level of deception a candidate has engaged in as Santos did.

For instance, Politico deputy managing editor Sam Stein asked if there had ever been a situation on par with Santos’ made-up history.

“Has Congress ever had someone with so many remarkable biographical holes?” he wondered:

The answer is yes – and that “someone” is named Joe Biden.

Take, for instance, the repeated lies he told about his and his family’s history while on the campaign trail during his failed 1988 presidential run. Not only was he untruthful about his life story, but he also was caught numerous times lifting passages from the speeches of other prominent politicos, including Robert Kennedy and JFK, without attribution:

Biden’s excuses for what he’d said at the time were to blame his staff and to suggest there was nothing deliberately underhanded about what had happened:

Biden blamed his aides for putting that pilfered prose in his mouth.

“I write my own speeches,” he claimed. “This speech I did not write. I honestly thought the paragraph was a piece of brilliant work by my staff.”

Biden’s bottom line — I’m not dishonest, I’m stupid:

“I’ve done some dumb things, and I’ll do dumb things again. I’ve done some dumb things as senator, and I’ve done some dumb things as a lawyer,” he confessed. “Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve been dumb.”

As it turned out, the tall tales he made up during that run for president were only the beginning, as Grabien’s Tom Elliott and others explained in response:

Laughably but not surprisingly, MSNBC anchor Chris Hayes boiled Biden’s 50 years of lying down to “‘normal’ politican bs-ing,” and suggested the real scandal would have been if Biden’s law degree hadn’t been real:

… and soon after, was called out:

Biden, of course, is not the only high-profile Democrat to have had made-up stories they spouted come back to bite them. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), for instance, for decades claimed a Native American heritage which – as documented extensively by Legal Insurrection – did not exist. Her only “apology” was for the “harm” she says she caused the Native American community.

In any event, these are some things to ponder as the debate rages about whether Santos should resign in disgrace.

My favorite Santos lie: “I didn’t say I was Jewish… I said I was Jew-ish”

I’m not certain, but I think this is where one might say “Oy vey!”

And, you have to mispronounce it.

    lurker9876 in reply to Paul. | December 29, 2022 at 8:24 am

    1. False claims about the car accident that killed his wife and daughter. He was also supposedly having an affair with his current wife.

    2. Also made lies about his first son on numerous things.

    3. Taking showers with one of his daughters.

    4. Now believing Major over the pro-MAGA secret service.

Biden, Warren, and Blumenthal weren’t the only ones that constantly lie to us.

    – Menendez
    – Nadler
    – Schiff
    – Fang Fang Swallwell
    – Kamala
    – Loefgren
    – Lieu
    – Kerry
    – and it goes on.

Biden got 81 million votes and no one pushed him out. The voters spoke for Santos.

Sounds like Santos will be a constant liar to everyone but….we have plenty of them in the US Congress. In addition to those lacking common sense like Romney and Mitch.

I say let Santos seat himself and prove himself to his constituents and let the voter decide in his next election.

I remember Joe and I were hitching a ride on a freight train to see the Sputnik launch just after we finally beat that Napoleon for the last time and Casey, Casey Jones who was driving that train, said to Joe, just before he crashed that train, high on cocaine, he said, “Joe! Someday you’re gonna appoint a man who calls himself a lady to Surgeon General!”. We both thought good old Casey was crazy at the time, but sure enough!

Who cares?? demonrats lies are much worse
😂😂😂 They all lie, prevaricate and demonstrably spit on our collective faces. So in this instance you want me to give a Shi&? No, I don’t think so!

Keeping this clown around is a bad for us. He’s defintely a bit nuts.

Keeping him around as opposed to what? Nobody but him gets a choice about him taking his seat. The GOP could refuse to let him join its caucus, but what would be the point of that? Just sacrifice a vote for nothing?!

They could encourage him to resign, but again what would be the point of that? Give the Dems another chance to win the seat?! That would be crazy. The Dems would definitely never make such a basic error.

You have the members you have. And he’s no nuttier than MTG or several others. The time to dump him is in 2024, when the GOP nomination for his seat comes up.

        lurker9876 in reply to Milhouse. | December 29, 2022 at 8:28 am

This is a thin majority and all the Democrats have to do is to reduce that majority and then they will gain it back. No. Let Santos seat himself, prove himself, and let the voters decide. It’s the voters’ responsibility.

After all, we now have Fetterman and Schiff is looking to move over to the Senate.

Schiff has been labeled as Pinocchio for lying to us all the time. “I’ve seen incriminating evidence of blah blah blah”.

Politicians telling whoppers …. who’d ah thought?

CommoChief in reply to alaskabob. | December 28, 2022 at 6:06 pm

All politicians are to some degree untrustworthy. They all seek out office to exercise power. They are human and have flaws. Mileage between them varies but putting one’s full confidence into any politician to the point we only evaluate on the next election day is foolish. Anyone who seeks power must be monitored or they will exercise that power to their benefit when don’t pay attention and sometimes even when we do pay attention.

Oh, they’re just mad that a guy with the wrong label did it their way.

— The (national) Screaming D’s are only mad that this guy stole their play book.

— The NYS D’s are only mad cause sending dishonest reps to DC is their gig.

Like Hillary (D-delusionville), was really from NY State. Honest. It’s a lie that when her staff arranged a “listening tour” of upstate, she said “Where?” Then they said: “You know. Like fly-over country, but in=state. You can get some bar-b-q. Remember to bring your hot sauce.”

That’s what I heard. Also she never said “deplorables.”

What’s that? It’s on video? Nevermind.

— The Regime Media is only mad cause lyin someone over the finish line is their job. If candidates can do that for themselves, who’s gonna pay Don Le-Mon?

As Harry, “one-eye” Reid (Too soon?) responded when zinged about his lies about Romney’s taxes. ‘He lost, didn’t he?”

How about we offer Sorkin-Fantasy Santos — sorry, that was an Obama surrogate on the West Wing, not a real guy — er, offer this guy to the D’s in trade. They’ll have to do better than a prof athlete for an arms dealer tho. How about we get Manchin, and another Senator to be named later?

As I understand it, he still says his grandmother claimed to have been Jewish and converted to Catholicism. If that’s true then he is Jewish.

Being a Catholic has nothing to do with it. There have been plenty of Jews who were Catholic bishops, cardinals, and legend has it that there was even a Jewish pope. Within recent memory we had Cardinal Lustiger, archbishop of Paris, and Cardinal O’Connor, archbishop of New York. O’Connor didn’t even know he was Jewish, but that makes no difference; we now know that he was. So if Santos’s story is true, and if his grandmother was telling the truth, then he is every bit as Jewish as Chuck Schumer.

And relying on Grandma’s stories is exactly Elizabeth Warren’s excuse.

This guys lies don’t even crack the top 100 for lies Democrats have told to get elected.

I don’t CARE if he lied about his background or not – I care about how he votes and what he’s planning to do.

Forgive me for not stumbling for the fainting couches over something that the Democrats wouldn’t give two shits about from one of their candidates.

These are the rules that the Democrats wanted. Republicans need to stop demanding everybody play by Marquess of Queensbury rules when the Democrats are busy taping a knife to their gloves.

Massinsanity in reply to Olinser. | December 29, 2022 at 11:57 am

Da Nang Dick may be the worst. I just can’t get over stolen valor.

    Warren is a close second.

Biden is just a congenital liar and cheat through and through. Always has been and always will be.

Look, the guy’s a liar, and should never have been elected. But he was duly elected, so he’s entitled to his seat. It’s not even as if anyone has a choice in the matter; if he insists on being sworn in the next speaker will have to do it no matter what he thinks.

The supreme court ruled decades ago that the House’s authority to judge the “elections, returns, and qualifications” of its own members extends only that far and no further. If there is no question about a member’s elections, returns, or qualifications the House has no right not to seat him.

It can expel him, if it likes, but that takes a 2/3 vote, and there is also a very long-standing House opinion that it may not expel a member for any offense committed before the last election. The supreme court was careful not to endorse that view, but it did take note of the fact that it has been the House’s view for well over a century.

So, should he resign? Absolutely not. Should the Republican caucus refuse him membership? Again, absolutely not. He is a duly elected congressman, and the GOP caucus can’t afford to be picky about who joins it. Resigning would just give the Dems an undeserved second chance to win the seat; why on earth should he do that?!!! Let him serve out his term, and in 2024 nominate someone better.

“But he was dully elected …”

    FIFY.

In one sense, he’s proving himself to be an adroit politician… he waited until immediately after winning his election and then went ahead and admitted to all his lies. By the time he’s up for re-election all of this will be ‘old news’ and most people will have forgotten about it. Or at least won’t be agitated enough about it to not vote for him.

      lurker9876 in reply to Paul. | December 29, 2022 at 8:38 am

Sounds like Biden…went from two red speeches and emptied the SPR until after the midterms. Now he wants “unity” between the two parties and planning to replenish the SPR with 70$ barrel (which we won’t see for a time).

Giving the Democrats one inch and they will get another inch by going after another Republican to reduce the narrow majority in the US House.

Don’t give them an inch. We still haven’t learned to play their games.

Michael Settle | December 28, 2022 at 3:24 pm

He should change parties and join the democrats. They they would boast about his creativity

lurker9876 in reply to Michael Settle. | December 29, 2022 at 8:54 am

I prefer to see Manchin leave the Democratic Party and become an independent.

That way, Schumer and his thugs would’ve learned a lesson to leave both Manchin and Sinema ALONE!!

Using the reasoning of that genius who is called “Whoopie”: this is/isn’t lies lies. That says it all.

Before Santos there was Joe Biden.

Before Joe Biden there was Satan.

Off topic, but speaking of Catholics, I just read that Benedict XVI is very ill. I’m praying for him.

Milhouse in reply to Milhouse. | December 29, 2022 at 1:23 am

What kind of person downvoted that?! Seriously. Benedict is a giant of a man, and the world will be a poorer place without him. And I’m not even Catholic. I believe that when he gets Upstairs he will be astonished to find that everything he believed was wrong. But it’s no matter. He served his god sincerely and well, and as C. S. Lewis put it: “Child, all the service thou hast done to Tash, I account as service done to me. […] if any man swear by Tash and keep his oath for the oath’s sake, it is by me that he has truly sworn, though he know it not, and it is I who reward him. […] unless thy desire had been for me thou wouldst not have sought so long and so truly. For all find what they truly seek.”

      pst314 in reply to Milhouse. | December 29, 2022 at 5:50 am

What kind of person would downvote that? Well, we do have some malicious trolls here. Pity we can’t see who downvoted that.

AOC and Pocahontas wait they have a D next to their name.

    Milhouse in reply to mtx3. | December 28, 2022 at 5:27 pm

I don’t recall any lies AOC has told about her background. Or are you not limiting yourself to that kind of lie?

avi natan in reply to Milhouse. | December 28, 2022 at 7:55 pm

the white Conquistadora claimed to have some Jewish blood

Milhouse in reply to avi natan. | December 28, 2022 at 8:48 pm

Yes, I had completely forgotten about that one. So yes, among all her lies there was one about her background. And unlike Santos’s claim to be Jewish, hers was never plausible.

          pst314 in reply to Milhouse. | December 29, 2022 at 5:57 am

Someone actually downvoted Milhouse for politely acknowledging that he was wrong about something. Why? Because trolls hate people who are courteous and honest.

She stated do to racism the parents could no buy a home and had to take the bus from Brooklyn to a better echool.

Though Ocasio-Cortez, 28, was born in and currently lives in the Bronx, county land records show her late father Sergio Cortez-Roman bought a quaint three-bedroom in Yorktown Heights, New York in 1991, when she was about two.

It is an apparent contradiction with the candidate’s official biography, which states in part: ‘The state of Bronx public schools in the late 80s and early 90s sent her parents on a search for a solution. She ended up attending public school 40 minutes north in Yorktown, and much of her life was defined by the 40 minute commute between school and her family in the Bronx.’

        Milhouse in reply to mtx3. | December 29, 2022 at 3:19 pm

Well, it’s possible that her father bought the house to establish an address so she could go to school there, but that the family actually continued to live in the Bronx, and rented the house out. Possible.

Let us not forget what Biden said as his first impression upon learning of Barack Obama: “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

“I relent and drink from the firehose of statements, lies, stories, controversies, allegations, and accusations of Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez”

I won’t say I don’t care but they really are trying to
Steal
His seat.
Let him serve the 2 years and then let the people decide

In a fair election of course,
Probably never happen again

Milhouse in reply to gonzotx. | December 28, 2022 at 7:51 pm

I don’t see how they can steal it. Their idea seems to be to pressure him to voluntarily give them another crack at it, or to pressure the GOP to pressure him, etc. But all he has to do is say “no”, and if the GOP has any brains at all they’ll make sure he says “no”.

angrywebmaster | December 28, 2022 at 7:13 pm

Joe Biden is a pathological liar and a psychopath.

Note: Psychopath doesn’t know the difference between right and wrong. Sociopath does, but doesn’t care. See Hillary Clinton, aka Felonia von Pantsuit.

I heard Senator Kerry was a war hero.

Milhouse in reply to puhiawa. | December 29, 2022 at 11:10 am

He promised to release his military records after the 2004 election. 18 years on, he still hasn’t released them…

See Act TWO Scene 11, where the Wizard of Oz awards the Lion with a Triple Cross medal “for meritorious conduct, extraordinary valor, conspicuous bravery” and the wizard’s rationale for presenting the award:

Kerry has medals.

In the interest of honesty and transparency, why are 0bama’s college records sealed. And why was it so easy to get the divorce records of his first political opponent unsealed!

“I’ve done some dumb things, and I’ll do dumb things again.”

Biden trying to confuse us by telling the truth, just this time.
