Kevin McCarthy Vows to Remove Ilhan Omar From House Foreign Affairs Committee

Kevin McCarthy is saying that if confirmed as Speaker of the House, he is going to take Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) off the House Foreign Affairs Committee due to her many Anti-Semitic remarks over the years.

Democrats will naturally object, but they can’t deny that this is a legitimate criticism of Omar.

FOX News reports:

Kevin McCarthy says he will remove Ilhan Omar from committee assignment over ‘antisemitism’ when speaker

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., said on Saturday that when he is speaker of the House next year he plans to remove Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., from the House Foreign Affairs Committee over her “antisemitic” comments.

“We watch antisemitism grow, not just on our campuses, but we watched it grow In the halls of Congress,” he said at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s 2022 leadership meeting in Las Vegas.

“I promised you last year that as speaker she will no longer be on Foreign Affairs, and I’m keeping that promise,” he said to cheers from the audience.

McCarthy is the likely next speaker once Republicans take the majority in January, pending a vote for the position on Jan. 3. Republicans will have a slim majority, so he can only afford to lose a handful of votes.

Since being elected to Congress in 2018, Omar has made several controversial comments widely deemed to perpetuate antisemitic tropes, including saying it was “all about the Benjamins” for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and tweeting, “We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban,” which was seen as equating Israel and the U.S. to the Taliban.

In a tweet before joining Congress, the Democrat claimed Israel had “hypnotized the world” and after being elected she submitted a resolution to the House comparing boycotting Israel to boycotting the Nazis.

Watch below:

The following footnote has been added to that tweet:

You may recall that in 2019, the Democrat led House was going to formally rebuke Omar for Anti-Semitic comments but ultimately ended up doing a watered down rebuke of hate speech instead.

Politico reported at the time:

House repudiates bigotry after Omar comments split Dems

The House overwhelmingly approved a resolution condemning hate speech Thursday, indirectly rebuking Rep. Ilhan Omar’s controversial comments about Israel and ending a days-long political drama that had consumed the Democratic Caucus on the eve of a major legislative victory.

The debate over how to respond to Omar’s remarks, which have been criticized as anti-Semitic by some colleagues, had sharply divided the caucus, distracting Democrats from a week intended to be dedicated to their sweeping package of election reforms.

One day before that vote, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her top deputies had been forced to personally intervene in the drafting of a symbolic resolution, rather than teeing up the most significant bill of their majority so far.

Removing Omar from the foreign affairs committee will get the approval of Republican voters, but McCarthy shouldn’t be surprised if they demand more like this.

They utterly canceled Kanye for less.

Not a fan of Kanye or anti-semitism. Not a fan of hypocrisy even more.

Big whoop.

    He’s reaching.
If I were one of his competitors, I’d just say “me too, it’s a no-brainer.”
Then it’s Kevin’s move again, and he needs to come up with something better.

What about Full of Schiff and Fartacus on Intel?

What about mealy mouthed traitor Raskin?

And Pelosi should be barred from any committee assignment period!

In a just world, this witch and her incestuous ilk would be deported back to Somolia.

I don’t want her removed. In the minority, her ignorance and incompetence is amusing. I would however like an investigation into the circumstances of her immigration and other alleged campaign finance related improprieties. If she were a republican, at least 2 special counsels would have been appointed already.

What circumstances of her immigration? She was a child, so if there were any improprieties involved they weren’t her doing and have nothing to do with her. She can’t be accused of making false statements because she wouldn’t have made any statements at all.

Now her fraudulent marriage might be fair game for an investigation, even though it happened before she entered politics. And her finances certainly need to be exposed for the nation to see. Not that her constituents would care, but the rest of the nation does.

Limit their power and limit their relevance. That was the exact call I made months ago and not all 3 top libs have bailed.

He better be planning to do a lot more than this.

Most Americans probably hate the likes of Omar. If McCarthy shows guts – consistenltly – most Americans (and Republicans) will follow him.

To be honest: McCarthy isn’t up to it – he just doesn’t have the talent.

Good move. A better move would be to investigate her marriage to her own brother in order to commit immigration fraud.

Why announce it now instead of just doing it when he does have the power? Is it posturing or is he signaling the Dems so they have can plan to block it.

It tells me his nomination is not in the bag. He’s campaigning.

Yep. Three r members already say the won’t vote for him for speaker. McCarthy himself pledged not to rely upon d/prog members to get to 218 needed for speaker. If r end up with 220 or less then someone breaks their pledge or McCarthy doesn’t become speaker.

Which makes DJT support for him …curious.

He should go all out and ban all the top Democrats from the committees.

Note to McCarthy: Do it first, THEN talk about it.
.

Remove all progs from every committee.

Constitutional carry on the house floor.

Make the Ds pay for the next two years. Detente can be negotiated after that, but the Ds must pay for what Pelosi did.

These guys don’t know how to play hard.

No, not for shooting her mouth off. Yes, for affiliating with and advocating for groups, policies and movements that seek the destruction of the US. Especially “insurrection.” They have an air-tight pile of evidence of her calling for 10x the insurrection The Bad Orange Mad ever did.

If you throw her off, it becomes a cause célèbre for The Screaming D’s, and you’re defending the decision. Make the charge, and make the D’s defend it. Work the procedures to get the news cycles. Submit evidence, charges, blah, blah, blah to the DoJ — not one and done, but every week until they respond.

Even when these guys are in charge, the put themselves right on the back foot.

How about making an actual budget instead of going along with continuing resolutions?
How about a 20% cut in education, energy and a host of other useless departments?
How about refusing to fund abortions with federal money and shut down any tax relief to planned parenthood?
How about we find someone who will fight for America rather than fight for their own personal prestige?

Good riddance!
