‘Turned Us Into a Border Town’: DC Council Member Blames AZ and TX Govs. for Creating Immigrant ‘Crisis’

“In many ways, the governors of Texas and Arizona have turned us into a border town.”

Washington, DC council member Brianne Nadeau said on Thursday that the governors of Texas and Arizona are to blame for the ‘crisis’ happening in the district due to the influx of illegal border crossers.

Liberal leaders in Washington, DC boasted about being a sanctuary city when it was nothing more than a virtue signal and they had no real stake in the game. Now it’s a crisis?

When towns and cities on the border are strained to the limit by the border crisis, liberals scold them as racists for complaining. Then the same people declare a crisis when they get a fraction of the same problem.

Nick Arama reports at RedState:

D.C. City Council Member Delivers Hilarious Take on ‘Emergency’ in D.C. From Busing Illegal Aliens

We’ve seen the strategy of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to get Democrats to pay attention to the border crisis by busing illegal aliens up to Washington, D.C., New York, and now even Chicago working like a charm. The very same Democrats who had ignored the problem when they thought it was “just a border issue” are suddenly complaining to high heaven when just a small fraction of the aliens with whom the border towns have had to deal are sent to their cities.

Washington D.C. declared a “public emergency” over the busing of illegal aliens to their city and the plans to create an Office of Migrant Services.

D.C. City Council Member Brianne Nadeau is the latest entrant in the hypocrite brigade. Here she is complaining about how the Texas and Arizona busing illegal aliens up to D.C. has turned D.C. into a “border town.”

“The governors of Texas and Arizona have created this crisis,” Nadeau claimed. She said that they weren’t getting any help from the federal government. She said that they’d “learned from border towns.” “In many ways, the governors of Texas and Arizona have turned us into a border town.”

Watch below:

This is too perfect.

Why is this only an emergency now?

Joe Biden created this crisis and allows it to continue every day. The governors of Texas and Arizona deserve praise for sharing the pain with sanctuary cities like DC.

Too rich! There are many more ‘sanctuary cities’ to choose from as well.

There are many more ‘sanctuary cities’ to choose from as well.
Yup. Just ask Kamala for the list of them.

Abbot should send a busload a day to every city that declared themselves a Sanctuary City starting with the ones that have the highest average income. Palo Alto, Martha’s Vineyard etc.

      exfed in reply to diver64. | September 10, 2022 at 8:49 am

Let’s not forget Chappaqua, Scarsdale, Pound Ridge, Armonk, Greennwich, Stamford, and all the other places that could benefit from the current policies. Shipping people to NYC hardly makes a difference.

For the price of a few chartered busses and some sack lunches Gov Abbott has drastically altered the narrative. Kudos to him and Gov Ducey for joining in.

Suddenly the presence of people seeking to benefit from the promises of sanctuary cities is a crisis. Another example of how the Northern establishment, leadership class becomes hysterical when they are forced to confront their hypocrisy. See bussing and integration.

Gooder and harder!

Virtue signaling is easy when all you have to do is spend other people’s money, talk the talk, and go home to your mansion guarded by police at the end of the day. That’s what these socialists do, but when it’s time to walk the walk and deal with the problems their policies have created, suddenly it’s Crisis this, Emergency that, and NIMBY.

Dimsdale in reply to Idonttweet. | September 9, 2022 at 1:09 pm

And federal money and National Guard troops.

Stuff that would be better used at the southern border, but noooooooo, that would be racist!!

Morning Sunshine | September 9, 2022 at 9:17 am

Ah, liberal tears! such a nice morning beverage.

Oh boo hoo. What do you think open borders did to Az and Tx?

    MattMusson in reply to 2smartforlibs. | September 9, 2022 at 1:11 pm

I spent a lot of my youth in Uvalde, Tx. Every morning someone wakes to find them camped out in the carport or sleeping in the shed out back that they broke into. There, parents have “The Talk” with their daughters because every day illegals walk through their yards.

Parents tell their young daughters where to hide if there is a break in. And, how to aim and fire the family gun.

Most people are conservative about policies that directly affect them.

Just read an article on Foxnews about Mayor BeetleJuice busing the migrants into small suburbs outside of Chicago. Maybe Texas should consider shipping them to the Canadian border.

1. You think this is a border town?! Come down and see what a border town looks like. You’re only getting a teensy little taste — an amuse bouche — of what a border town is like.

2. Not only is your “crisis” much smaller in scale, there’s an automatic filter going on, so you’re only getting the better class of infiltrator. Since TX and AZ can’t force anyone to get on those buses, you’re only getting the ones who choose to volunteer, which automatically means you’re less likely to get the criminals and gangsters, who have “business” in the border area and aren’t likely to want to go to DC.

Virtue is easy when you force others to bear the costs.

The takeaway here is the Public Emergency declaration, not the migrants. They don’t care about them, they’re just fodder for government seizing liberties. That emergency declaration was easily snuck in as the public was distracted by the Democrats expertly created stage shows of hypocrisy. Today it’s administrative directives tomorrow it will be private citizens forced to help with the crisis (i.e., hotels, rental apartments, etc.)

Absolutely right and it’s about the timing.

No election in the modern era is complete without a ‘State of Emergency” that the Dems can use to unilaterally violate voting regulations.

This is clearly a case of being so stupid you don’t know you are stupid. Suck it up, Nadeau. You wanted a sanctuary, you got a sanctuary.

She was probably finding ways to cash in on that “permanent immigrant legal services fund,” like all Dems do.

Can Abbott drop off the illegals in her neighborhood? It would be fun to watch her woke neighbors squirming in frustration and looking real hard at her…

I think they should be dropped off, a few families at a time, at every DC politician’s doorstep. With a knock on the door by a coordinator….
“Is this the Nadeau residence? A 4 bedroom townhouse?”
“Ummm, yes, but why are y….”
    “Sign here, ma’am.”
[yelling toward the bus] “OK, Charlie, offload 3 families here!”
    “But, wait… what… what the he….”
As four groups of immigrants get off the bus and head toward the house.

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to Dimsdale. | September 9, 2022 at 5:32 pm

Drop them off in Georgetown. Preferably on the day of the week with the most cocktail parties.

Border towns are probably, on average, safer places to live than DC.

Boo hoo. You lefty clowns wanted them here. Just “not in my back yard”, right?

turned us into a border town
That’s called EQUITY.
BWAHAHAHAHA!!!

Trapped in Davis | September 9, 2022 at 10:54 am

It’s all about equity, my dear. They’re just re-distributing the wealth. ENJOY!

Dear Ms. Nadeau:

Go F yourself.

DC’s response to the border crisis is irredeemably incompetent, and you’re crying about how you’re turning into a border town because the state governors of the most affected states are showing you what’s happening in their state? And you’re affronted by this? HUBRIS!

Again, go F yourself, lady.

One of the response tweets asks, “Why is this an emergency?” The answer is simple. It is happening to them.

It’s a sad situation overall, but one cannot help laughing at this fraudulent lady.

The Gentle Grizzly | September 9, 2022 at 11:19 am

In her mind, she likely is saying “There goes the neighborhood…”

It is such a joy to behold the gander’s response when it receives the same as the goose.

If TX and AZ aren’t already doing it, it could be a VIRAL PR move to create a “buy a bus ticket” site/app where anyone in the US can buy a ticket for an illegal to DC, NYC, Chicago, Delaware …

    txvet2 in reply to MrE. | September 9, 2022 at 2:16 pm

I don’t know about an app, but I hear Abbott has already set up a system to allow people to contribute to the cause. I’m just a retiree living on a relatively fixed income. I’ll let others pay to bus them around the country.

      henrybowman in reply to txvet2. | September 10, 2022 at 12:57 am

I understand Abbott has already paid out millions on this bus scheme. Yet, if I were a Texas taxpayer, hopefully I wouldn’t begrudge him any of it.

Democrats love to talk about policies that don’t affect them but impact the conscience of bleeding heart liberals. When they see the chaos they’ve wrought, there may be a chance they don’t like the results. But they will never blame themselves. We need to give up on the idea they will see the flaws in their policy. They will just misplace blame and insist everything would work without those damn Republicans.

Yeah, when you open the borders you turn the entire country into a border town. Great insights from a hypocritical Leftist.

Memo for Brianne Nadeau: What goes around, comes around.

Typical Dem – blame it on the Republicans and not the Biden Admin that is allowing the massive illegal invasion of our southern border.

A point that I haven’t noticed yet: The Biden Administration has been flying regular nighttime flights out of SAI all over the country. Nobody apparently notices – but a couple of thousand on buses and the left goes crazy.

    Dimsdale in reply to txvet2. | September 9, 2022 at 6:05 pm

Well, if the planes are going to places other than “sanctuary cities,” then it is a ploy to turn red states purple, and no reporting is necessary by the “unbiased” media.

“Farming looks mighty easy when your plow is a pencil and you’re a thousand miles from the corn field.”

Dwight D. Eisenhower

As an Arizonan to Brianne Nadeau “suck it.”

So being a “border town” is bad? I wonder why that is?

Such a shame she’s so “anti-immigrant.” She must not like brown people.

The Big Bigot.

That said, emigration reform, including a federal program to control gun running, a wall to reduce collateral damage, engagement with foreign stake holders, and immigration under, not shared, but equitable circumstances.

Oh, rape… rape-rape and the “burdens” of evidence are aborted and sequestered in darkness. Think of the women and girls on both sides of the bridge and throughout.

She said that they weren’t getting any help from the federal government.

You mean federal help like cutting off the flow of illegal aliens across our national borders of course.

Right?

I don’t think the narrative has changed because of this. And while there is quite a bit of clever reparte on this LI page, I don’t know if anyone other than conservatives care.

I had a childhood friend visit over the last 12 days. Long, long visit. Whenever the topic became political, no matter what I said, no matter how inarguable my argument, the response was “but Trump.” On immigration, he was pissed about Gov. Abbott. He had no animosity towards Biden. On abortion, he said he didn’t care about the Constitution. Just wanted women to have the right to choose. It’s disheartening. Until Republicans wise up and stop backing unelectable candidates, nothing will change.

Dimsdale in reply to Stuytown. | September 9, 2022 at 6:07 pm

You need new friends; the ulcers aren’t worth it.

Stuytown in reply to Dimsdale. | September 9, 2022 at 6:11 pm

Yeah. I’ve known the guy for 40 years. Hard to just shut the door on him. But it’s tough to maintain the friendship.

henrybowman in reply to Stuytown. | September 10, 2022 at 1:04 am

I don’t think your friend’s brainwashing is going to alter one iota regardless of who Republicans nominate for what. It’s like hoping that better-tasting spiders will be the cure for someone’s arachnophobia.

Pick a state, preferably Blue and just start sending the buses.
Limiting it to two or three cities is understating the number of places in the US who claim Sanctuary status.

Seriously, you’d get your biggest bang for the buck out of RI and Delaware. New Jersey is relatively small, and Massachusetts is overdue for a hubris puncturing..

There’s a reason that the blue network spinzones aren’t even covering this at all in primetime. They KNOW this is a major losing issue for the Dems and they look extremely hypocritical and completely worthless every time they start trying to shift blame about it.

The white socialist woman makes a classic response: create more overpaid leftist government with a migrant services office. Maybe she can finally get that unemployed, under-educated nephew off her living room sofa??

A liberal, as usual:
No sense of humor
No sense of irony
No sense of self-awareness

They’d be hilarious if they weren’t dragging the country down.
