Biden Declares ‘The Pandemic is Over’

The pandemic is officially over, according to Joe Biden.

President Biden declared the coronavirus pandemic “over” in an interview that aired Sunday, pointing to the return of large events and the lack of masking and other public health measures in place nationwide.“The pandemic is over,” Biden told “60 Minutes” from the Detroit auto show last Wednesday, the first time the even has been held since the onset of the pandemic in 2020.“We still have a problem with COVID. We’re still doing a lotta work on it. It’s — but the pandemic is over. if you notice, no one’s wearing masks. Everybody seems to be in pretty good shape. And so I think it’s changing. And I think this is a perfect example of it.”

So, if someone tells you there is still a pandemic, they are spreading “misinformation.”

And, even though the US still designates covid a Public Health Emergency and the World Health Organization says it remains a “Public Health Emergency of International Concern,” there are signs that the pandemic-mania is nearing its end.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization, said in a news briefing last week that the end of the Covid-19 pandemic was “in sight,” and that the world has never been in a better position to end the Covid-19 pandemic.”Last week, the number of weekly reported deaths from Covid-19 was the lowest since March 2020,” Ghebreyesus said. “We have never been in a better position to end the pandemic. We’re not there yet, but the end is in sight.”Last month, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention adjusted its Covid-19 guidance to urge the nation away from measures such as quarantines and social distancing and instead focus on reducing severe disease from Covid-19. But the agency says some people, including those who are older, immunocompromised, have certain disabilities or underlying health conditions, are at higher risk for serious illness, and may need to take more precautions.

I will simply point out that protecting the vulnerable while not constraining the healthy was the very approach promoted in the Great Barrington Declaration, which was issued by several notable medical and epidemiological experts early on in the covid saga. It’s good to see our bureaucrats finally catching up with the science.

However, there are likely to be those in the administration who will bitterly cling to their pandemic powers…especially ahead of the upcoming election.

Despite Biden’s statement, Covid has continued to exact a toll in the United States and around the world. The John Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center lists more than 2 million Covid cases in the country in the last 28 days, with hundreds dying from the disease every day.Biden’s insistence on Sunday night that the pandemic is over caught several of his own health officials by surprise. The declaration was not part of his planned remarks ahead of the “60 Minutes” interview, two administration officials familiar with the matter told POLITICO.

Personally, I am looking forward to watching how Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre walks back Biden’s “60 Minutes” segment.

This declaration is not trivial. There are still ten states under pandemic emergency orders:

CALIFORNIA
CONNECTICUT
DELAWARE
WASHINGTON
NEW MEXICO
TEXAS
ILLINOIS
KANSAS
WEST VIRGINIA
RHODE ISLAND

Additionally, there are vaccine mandates and school masking requirements around the country that should now be eliminated.

It is time to end this farce. Covid is here to stay. Permanently.

As I predicted, it is no longer a dire threat for most people, but thanks to the combination of evolution and “herd immunity,” infection now generates nothing more than a bad cold in most people.

We don’t declare emergency orders during the cold season.

I would like to conclude with this clip that summarizes my thoughts on Biden’s latest rambling.
