Ron DeSantis Declines Invitation to Appear on ‘The View’ Citing Hosts’ Prior Statements About Him

The folks at ABC’s The View invited Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to appear on the show, but he turned them down.

DeSantis made the right decision. His office sent a reply citing some of the unhinged things the show hosts said about him in recent months.

Brian Flood of FOX News has details:

‘The View’: Here’s how Ron DeSantis’ political team responded to invite from ABC talk showFlorida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office had a blistering response to ABC News’ “The View” after the liberal daytime talk show asked the Republican governor to appear as guest.Fox News Digital has confirmed that “The View” extended an invitation to DeSantis, and deputy press secretary Bryan Griffin shared his office’s official response to the offer.”Thanks for the invite. I understand that you are sending this request on behalf of your team,” Griffin wrote in a message he shared on Twitter. “But are the hosts of the View really interested in hearing from Governor DeSantis about all of the important work he is doing on behalf of Floridians to protect their health and livelihoods, to stand up for parents and children, and to defend freedom?”DeSantis’ deputy press secretary then asked, “Which of the below statements from the hosts of the View do you recommend our team consider when deciding if the interview with be a genuine pursuit of truth?”DeSantis’ office offered four examples, including Joy Behar calling the governor a “homicidal sociopath,” Sunny Hostin declaring him to be a “fascist and a bigot,” Ana Navarro calling him “anti-Black” and Hostin criticizing his policies as “anti-Black history laws.”

This was the right response.

If you can’t read those small quotes, The Post Millenial transcribed them:

“Joy Behar, August 2021: ‘You’re just short of calling [Governor DeSantis] a negligent, homicidal sociopath, because that’s what he is.’ She added: ‘What is he doing? He’s risking the lives of children, children’s parents, their grandparents, anyone they may come into contact with, so he can appeal to his white supremacist base, so he can continue in his career and get reelected.'”Sunny Hostin, June 2022: ‘Death-Santis… I think he’s a fascist and a bigot.'”Ana Navarro, April 2022 (on Governor DeSantis’s policies): ‘It’s anti-Black, it’s anti-gay, it’s anti-LGBTQ+ community. And for some reason, the Republican base responds to it.” And ‘It’s anti-American. It’s what happens in Venezuela. It’s what happens in Nicaragua.'”Sunny Hostin, February 2022 (on Governor DeSantis’s policies): ‘It started with CRT. Let’s remember that — and those are anti-history laws, anti-Black history laws, really,” she said. “If you start coming after Black people, what comes next, right? Of course the LGBTQ+ community, and then women, and then other marginalized groups.’

Two weeks ago, The View’s Joy Behar falsely attacked DeSantis, saying he had no problem with Nazis outside the Turning Point USA conference.
