Former Vice President Dick Cheney Cuts Ad for Daughter Liz, Attacks Donald Trump
“In our nation’s 246-year history, there has never been an individual who has posed a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump”
Former Vice President Dick Cheney appears in a new campaign ad for his daughter, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), which is generating a lot of buzz on social media.
In the spot, Cheney spends at least as much (if not more) time attacking Donald Trump as he does defending his daughter’s record.
Dick Cheney is trying to do what he can to help his daughter, but there are obviously much bigger issues at play here.
As CNBC reports, Cheney used some strong words:
Former Vice President Dick Cheney rips ‘coward’ Trump in election ad for daughter Liz
Former Vice President Dick Cheney assailed ex-President Donald Trump as a “coward” and a prime threat to the United States in a new campaign ad for his daughter, Rep. Liz Cheney, days before her Republican primary election in Wyoming.
“In our nation’s 246-year history, there has never been an individual who has posed a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump,” the elder Cheney said in a straight-to-camera ad, which was shared online Thursday afternoon.
“He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him,” said Cheney, 81, who served for eight years as vice president in the George W. Bush administration.
“He is a coward. A real man wouldn’t lie to his supporters,” Cheney said. “He lost his election and he lost big. I know it, he knows it, and deep down, I think most Republicans know it.”

Here’s my take on this:
Translation: There has never been a greater threat to the people who used to control the Republican party than Donald Trump. https://t.co/kfoipZhoq2

Cheney’s ad comes off as the last gasp of the establishment. A final, desperate attempt by the old guard to wrest back control of a party that left them behind over five years ago.
I would give Dick Cheney more credit if I had ever heard him speak this way about Joe Biden or any of the current crop of Democrats who currently control the levers of power in Washington, DC.
This is about a battle for control of the GOP, not the soul of America.
The Cheneys and various other never-Trumpers simply don’t know or refuse to accept the fact that that ship sailed long ago.

As the years have past, I am less and less impressed with the Bush eras. Age has stripped away the facade that Cheney used to cover his real self. It’s now “The State”… no longer “Deep”.
Same here.
Dick and Liz, bothe sorehead liars and losers, we have their number.
Dick Cheney should take himself hunting (Liz too).
Bush and Cheney f**ked up royally. The had it all in their hands, but instead gave us Obama – like his idiot father gave us Clinton.
Boy, those Cheney’s just cannot get the taste of Trump’s nuts out of their mouths, can they?
😂😂😂
Well, he HAS nuts and they consider than an unfair advantage.
Cheney’s next commercial will feature him in an ad with Jeb Bush.
Jeb Bush: “My daddy was president. My big brother was president. And now it’s my turn, right Dick?”
Dick Cheney: “That’s right son. That’s a promise I made to your Mama and I intend to keep it. And my daughter, Liz will make a fine VP. It will be a Bush and Cheney Redux.”
More like Bush and Cheney reflux.
They leave a bad taste in your mouth.
It is creepy to realize that Darth Vader doesn’t even have a heart beat.
The sad part is this isn’t really about DJT. Instead it’s about those of us on populist right who have worked for two decades or more to highlight how the r establishment was constantly selling out the voters.
The establishment is dead scared of losing their grip on the r party. They can’t stand the idea of folks outside the beltway having meaningful influence or the ability to derail their uni party collaboration with the d/prog establishment.
What exactly is the establishment?
The term establishment does seem to be misused if used to mean Liz Cheney in some relationship to being the Republican Establishment.
She was removed from her positions in the Republican Party and from party leadership, she has no influence within the Republican Party, she is actively trying to destroy actually influential and important Republicans like Jim Jordan.
The establishment, to my mind anyway, is the dug in do nothing stupid party who are happy to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory if it means they stay in power. They don’t care about the American people or even about America, just in grabbing power and staying in their vaunted (and lucrative) political positions. The DC establishment is composed of both the left and the right, so it’s not exclusive to the GOP (I think this is what people mean when they say uniparty, but that’s not quite right because if there were a “uniparty,” we’d be living in third-world hell right now, there’d be no conservative SCOTUS, no pushback on the Green New Deal — at least not enough to actually derail it as it has been, and etc.).
The establishment is also very protective of the deep state because it’s the deep state that does their dirty work and keeps their own hands clean. Anyone who threatens that status quo is an enemy of the state, quite literally. It’s Trump now, but just wait, these same losers will be railing against the next person who threatens their cushy existence and all the corruption and grifting that goes on amongst them all (both parties’ elites/establishment).
It’s not “our democracy” or the Republic they want to save, it’s the ongoing enrichment they get from their positions in power and the power they get to wield against the little people, the great unwashed, we, the people. They would rather reign in hell, than serve (the people) in Heaven. And if they have to create a hell to rule over, they are happy to do so as long as the power is never, ever with the states or with the people. That is the establishment.
That’s why we need term limits, a federal employment overhaul (Trump’s Section F, for example), and massive changes to how laws are enacted and to whom they apply (almost none currently apply to anyone in the legislative branch, that’s why they can happily engage in insider trading, etc., while we’d all be sent to prison for the same thing). I can guarantee that we’d get far better laws if Congress could no longer exempt themselves and their staff (as they did with ObamaCare and so many others).
Being a Congresscritter was never intended to be a career or even a full-time job while Congress was in session. They are supposed to be living their lives, working in their careers full-time, and doing the people’s business as a kind of public service side-gig. They’re supposed to be people with honor, a sense of duty to the people and to the Constitution, and a willingness to serve (not be served). That’s all gone, long long gone.
The whole thing makes me sick to my stomach.
The Democrats, Republicans are minted on the same coin, just on different sides. The white hats and black hats are in the same boat. America has been under attack in one form or another since well before 1789, because this nation represents a very real threat to the very old cabal that has been running mankind into the ground for centuries.
This reminds me of a post I once wrote about American freedom being a freak in human history. It hadn’t really been tried before, and it was an excellent experiment . . . while it lasted.
Had to deal with some very powerful Congressmen in late 70’s early 80’s. Righteously honorable helpful men. Especially Dante Fascell of Miami. Amazing wonderful man.
20 years later had to do it again—totally different mindset for every stinken’ one of them. Including Sec of Transportation and Sec of Commerce, and Congressmen. Amazing how Clinton changed Washington!!!
Let’s face it—the world has changed and so have our politicians…..and not for the better.
Glad I’m real old……
The “establishment” is this: our federal government has degenerated into nothing more than an organized crime syndicate.
THAT, is our establishment.
Danny,
Establishment – those who are part of ‘permanent DC’, those who weave their way back and forth between govt service to DC area think tanks, academic positions, lawfirms, lobbying, Corp boards and either political office or appointed office. Also the legacy members from the Parents, grandparents or Spouse.
These are the Cocktail party circuit people in DC who’s influence behind the scenes is necessary for political back scratching and favor trading even though they may not hold a particular office.Their approval might not be necessary but avoiding their disapproval is.
Neither she nor Kinzinger was removed from membership in the r Caucus in the HoR which speaks rather loudly to me about the power of the r establishment.
For you to argue that Liz Cheney, a sitting Congressman and daughter of Dick Cheney a WH Chief of Staff for Ford, a six term congressman, chair of House r conference, minority whip, Sec Def for GHW Bush and VP for GW Bush isn’t part of the establishment is flipping absurd.
Read Liz Cheney’s CV. College to the State Dept to USAID, Armitage Associates (Richard Armitage’s consulting firm) , Univ Chicago Law, then White & Case law firm, then a consultant then a turn as Dep. Asst Sec State. ….on and on that’s the picture of what a member of the establishment looks like.
Liz Cheney is on the way out of the GOP and is trying to burn as much of it down as she could. She is not leaving the establishment, just changing teams within the same league.
Thanks for the laugh, Danny!
More hogwash from a CCP paid troll.
Every single bit of republican party “sanction” against Cheney is for show. Every damn bit.
/This. Not a fan of the uniparty stuff, but the gist is spot-on. The establishment is losing its grip and is terrified, so they trot out this walking corpse to appeal to Wyoming voters. I doubt it works, but who knows, they loved Dick back in the day.
“…they loved Dick back in the day.”
“They” loved Bush as well.
Those days are long gone. We know, and they know we know. That’s why all the gloves are off now.
Trump is a “threat to America”.
I fell sefer hunting with him then you Dick.
Not me …
LMAO…this is going to help Liz Cheney’s opponent. He must working undercover for them.
If ever there exists a Swamp Creature Dick Cheney is the poster boy. Connected all the way, most of it from his membership in the Council on Foreign Relations.
To those of you who enjoy reading hard-ish science fiction, let me recommend to you a series by Charlie Stross known as The Merchant Princes. By book three, you will understand why this is a relevant comment to this particular article.
Sounds very interesting:

I’ve never lived in Wyoming. I wonder: is Dick Cheney really so beloved in that state that this will swing the primary for his daughter? It seems unlikely.
As an aside, if I had his record I’d be too ashamed to show my face in public.
I lived in Wyoming and can honestly tell you Dick Cheney no longer carries the weight and importance he once did when he coached Duba Bush as his VP. I remember he told his daughter to be very careful as she was moving to Wyoming to eventually run as a US Representative for Wyoming. It was sound advice that she has failed to lisitened to over the years.
My, my, where has all that vaunted gravitas gone?
Conflict of interest: tie goes to the daughter.
DJT was not even my 3rd choice in ’20, and won’t be in ’24. But he is head and shoulders above any Democrat on the ballot. While Trump did many things I like, he also did much I don’t care for.
Completely with you. Many pluses but Trump’s unforgivable behavior in GA post election cost us 2 Senate seats and now we BBB light on top of the 2021 D legislation. We may never recover from the damage.
Fully agree, except I would actually forgive the damage he did with the GA senate seats IF he was actually capable of winning.
I just don’t think he could win again (and no he didn’t win in 2020).
Without a clean election…. you really can’t say he actually lost.
Excellent point. The election was purposely dirtied up bad, with all sorts of illegal stuff going on. I saw a lot — a lot — of very serious-looking affadavits of shocking, blatant fraud, that were never dealt with. They just disappeared. Judges declared them null, without even looking at them, mostly because they didn’t want antifa burning their house down. And to the left, this is ‘proof’ there can never be any valid objections. Nice work if you can get it.
He didn’t lose
Georgia cost that crap on themselves and ALL the RINOs
They stole his election amd wanted President Trump to play nice?
What world do you live in?
The Troll world.
The paid by the CCP troll world.
Remember the Nixon JFK election. The same thing supposedly occurred then, but Nixon was prevailed upon to concede.
Georgia cost that crap on themselves and ALL the RINOs
They stole his election amd wanted President Trump to play nice?
What world do you live in?nobody, nobody was a better Presit than Trump since Lincoln
They will prot kill him too no doubt
“DJT was not even my 3rd choice in ’20, and won’t be in ’24.”
Well, who did you vote for then?
Clearly, Biden.
Hey Dick! Shut up!
The five people paid to put up your turncoat daughters election signs along their fenceline actually don’t like you or her, they are merely trying to fill their gas tank. Go away.
He looks dead, sure he wasn’t dug up for this?
He’ll be around long enough to vote Dem then….
He probably already has been voting democrat since 2008
+10
Hillary and the DNC factually, provably, turned to Russia and came up with a dossier full of lies to try to steal the 2016 election, the DOJ tried to take down a president using lies, Biden inexplicably got more votes than anyone ever yet is now being forced to walk the plank because for some, gee I don’t know, totally weird reason, no one until this moment could see the walking corpse in front of their face, and now this 2nd walking corpse thinks Trump is the danger?
Cheney and sour grapes.
Whatever, dick.
Sure. From the guy who assured us that our troops invading Iraq would be greeted as liberators ala Paris in 1944.
Uh, who does Dick Cheney appeal to? My grandparents passed away already. My parents are not as enthusiastic about Bush years as they used to be, and as a first time voter voting for W and Dick I feel cheated. Maybe there’s still some people that care, but I can’t imagine there’s many who thing “Oh, well since Dick Cheney says so…”
For the first time?
Dang
Hey Dick. Go take your daughter hunting.
This ruling class lizard will never be capable of grasping the simple fact that he is a poster boy for the reason there is a “Trump” in the first place. Trump is a flawed individual for sure, and he sure as hell blew it versus the deep state in his presidency. But short of Sulla, he’s about all we have right now to flush the Cheneys of the world down the shitter once and for good.
Donald J. Trump, a danger to our Republic? That statement is risible.
Every night while he was in office, he’d be reading up on the daily happenings in the world, while most of the rest of Washington and New York was drinking, cheating on their spouses and doing cocaine. No wonder his criticism of our political class was so pointed.
His domestic policies were thoughtful and workable. His foreign policy speeches were steeped in the recent history of the other nations, and his meetings with foreign leaders were well-prepared and led to positive results.
I wouldn’t know these things if I were informed only by the lame stream media. I went directly to the original speeches, documents, and hearings. The contrast between what he said and did, and what they said he said and did, was staggering.
I recommend that approach to Mr. Cheney. He might find it enlightening.
And if you hear him on different radio shows, he is fast thinking, full of facts and in full control.
Compare that to Dementia Joe.
What a real disappointment. I was a fervert Cheney supporter. My vote for Bush in 2000 was really for Cheney. Dick Cheney as The Man and the second Bush term went down the shitter because he stopped listening to Cheney and swung to Condi Rice and Colin Powell.
This ad is as pathetic as it gets. Dick Cheney has turned into a total piece of lying shit. He can go straight to hell with his dipshit daughter. This is a real shame. Dick Cheney has just sunk as low as he could. Dirtbag.
Unfortunately, Cheney fooled us for years (myself included), but he was always lying shit and fascist.
The only person left from the whole bush regime (both) that I have an respect for is Rumsfeld, and he’s gone, and I’m not even 100% sure about him. Getting fired by bush is a feather in his cap at least.
When Liz goes down in defeat, his is the shoulder she’ll cry on. He has to support her, even if he thinks she’s a political dunce, which she is, but he’d never say it. Will she figure out that carrying out her daddy’s politics got her removed? will she blame him? I don’t get the impression she’s that astute.
All fathers have to support their eldest daughters, no matter what they do. It’s a rule. I speak from experience.
Granting that the GOPe is not really an enemy of the Democrats in any ideological sense, there is no way that they can be an ally anymore of the Conservative mass base of what was the Republican party. They are openly at war with their own base, and as such if we should survive and win they can never be trusted to be anything but the enemy of country and people as much as the Democrats. They will try to apply suction, and to claim that “for reals” they were secretly on our side. Taking them back would be like George Washington taking Benedict Arnold back as his chief of staff for the Siege of Yorktown.
Subotai Bahadur
I’ve been at work and missed quite a thread. Cheney and Bush were only supported by conservatives because the media pretended to hate them. Now the same media loves them. The GOP is controlled opposition, no doubt about it. Sometimes the deep state messes up. Like when it decided that Trump was a clown and would be easiest to beat in 2016.
The media was extraordinarily easy on Trump in the 2016 primaries, which is why so many conservatives were suspicious and moved to Ted Cruz. The media was loathed to even Ted Cruz at the same time it was giving Trump an easy time.
Nominating Trump was supposed to be a coronation for Hillary. She would be a shoe-in. The Republican establishment was fine with this just as they were fine with running losers like Romney and McCain (his popular VP candidate almost pushed him over the top, oops)
By the time the establishment realized that this was a bonehead mistake, it was too late.
These old uniparty RINO’s are worthless except for the occasional photo-op and quote to bash the current conservative/RINO’s when needed.
They don’t control Trump. It’s too bad they were able to control most of his cabinet the first time around. Trump has seemingly learned from that. There is no way they can let it happen again.
Say goodnight, Dick.
Goodnight Dick.
Beat me to it.
Right. What’s going to save Liz Cheney’s pathetic remnants of a political career is going to be her jackass father in a new an absolutely pristine cowboy hat whining about Trump.
🙂
I love the smell of Liz losing the primary in the morning.
Well that and napalm.
fuck him and the shotgun he rode apong,
grr.. typo
you get my meaning
Cheney did this so they can point to it as responsible for Cheney’s amazing come-back to win 101% of the vote.
Nope. No comeback for traitors in Wyoming. They have learned just like the rest of us.
Not even close.
