American Bar Association Drops Proposal for Racial Quota System at Law Schools

“after more than a year of warnings from law professors that the plan would force schools to violate federal law”

This is good news. The left must be told ‘no’ more often.

The College Fix reports:

Proposed racial quota system for law schools scrapped by American Bar Association

Law schools will not have to impose mandatory racial quotas on enrollment to stay accredited by the American Bar Association.

ABA delegates failed to pass a requirement that law schools implement a racial quota system, even after rounds of edits.

The Washington Free Beacon reported:

The proposal, first released in May 2021, would have required law schools to submit annual progress reports on minority enrollment to the American Bar Association. Law schools that failed to boost the enrollment of “underrepresented groups” would have been at risk of losing their accreditation.

The proposal underwent three rounds of revisions before finally being withdrawn by the association’s house of delegates, which did not rule out revisiting the proposal at a later date. An early draft had warned that U.S. anti-discrimination laws were “not a justification” for “non-compliance” with the diversity standard, a line that drew criticism from many in the legal community, including from elite universities

Just how bloody was the stump they pulled back when that hand was first extended?

While this is a win, don’t expect them to give up. They can’t get mandatory quotas across the board, expect them to start enacting some such standard through the back door.

Just like CRT, they will call it something else.

It is hard to flush this racist poison out of the system, hence, the programs of the leftists, e.g. “affirmative action,” are the true systemic racism.

Just because there’s no formal requirement doesn’t mean the ABA’s accreditation board won’t look askance at accreditation applications that don’t have such mechanisms.

I can cancelled my membership with the ABA a long time ago because of their woke BS. They are distracted with politics and race rather than the practice of law.

I haven’t been a member of the ABA for ages–they have been taken over by leftists who don’t care about the law, but care more about social engineering through apparently unconstitutional means
