University of Kansas Now Offering ‘Angry White Male Studies’ Course

“Where does he come from? What’s he angry about? Is his anger misplaced? Is he blaming the right people?”

What academic purpose does this serve? Also, what other segment of society could be treated this way?

Campus Reform reports:

‘Angry White Male Studies’ course comes to campus this fall

For the Fall 2022 semester, the history department at the University of Kansasis offering Angry White Male Studies as a course that will explore the “prominent figure” that is “the angry white male.”

“This course charts the rise of the ‘angry white male’ in America and Britain since the 1950s, exploring the deeper sources of this emotional state while evaluating recent manifestations of male anger,” the course description reads.

“Employing interdisciplinary perspectives this course examines how both dominant and subordinate masculinities are represented and experienced in cultures undergoing periods of rapid change connected to modernity as well as to rights-based movements of women, people of color, homosexuals and trans individuals,” it continues.

The instructor Christopher Forth writes in the description that the class will ask the following questions: “Where does he come from? What’s he angry about? Is his anger misplaced? Is he blaming the right people? How long has this been going on? Is he a global phenomenon? And how do we move forward?”

Forth is a professor of history and the Dean’s Professor of Humanities, serving in the departments of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and American Studies.

He and his class drew significant criticism from Kansas Congressman Ron Estes in 2019. Campus Reform previously reported on Estes’s comments regarding the course’s possible violation of Title IX.

In an April 3, 2019, tweet, the Congressman condemned the class, saying that “[i]nstead of a course to unite people and empower women, KU has decided to offer a class that divides the student population and could pose a Title IX violation by creating a hostile campus environment based on gender.”

Go Forth, go backwards. His bio shows an inordinate fascination with males and maleness.

How is he(?) qualified to teach HIST 324: History of Women and the Body?

Why do Jewish people not consider themselves white? I see lots of Jews on Twitter and YouTube saying they’re not white. Why?? Is this why you are ok with the hate against white European Americans? Why don’t Jews ever defend European Americans when they get attacked? Biden’s administration doesn’t even have many white men – it’s all Jewish and black.

The reason Jews might be considered other than white is that some Jewish groups are not white, e.g., Sephardic Jews from North Africa and the mideast. Nonetheless, I think Jews should defend European Americans irrespective of color. The attack on white people, especially white males is reprehensible. Non-whites didn’t like it when they were attacked. They should not do to others that which was hateful to them. One issue regarding many Jews at this point is that they have substituted the manifesto of Marxism for the Torah of Moses. As a consquence, they are Jews only by an accident of birth and nothing more. They no longer know anything about the ethical and moral teachings of Judaism.

I am glad my children graduated decades ago when it was still possible to get some education. Now, it’s virtually all indoctrination taught by woke pansies who are deeply disappointed in their own lives.

Just take them to a KU football game, there will be plenty of angry white male students, alumni and fans in the stands to study

“What academic purpose does this serve?”

If it served an academic purpose, they wouldn’t spend any money on it. It’s all politics, all the time at modern universities!

How about a course in angry violent black males murdering other black males?

It’s served an agenda. Eventually if you dehumanize white people it won’t be long before they are looked at as subhuman and therefore any shred of compassion any non white person had for them will be effectively removed and subjection whites to harsher treatment will become easier. It’s to dehumanize white people.

Is there an academic or legal or social definition of “angry white male” such that an actual historian can study this category? Note that the course description assumes that there is such a well-defined category known to students and academics. This is hilariously stupid. Does anyone think that angry white male Democrats or progressives will be examined in detail or that “angry white males” will be distinguished from other wholly ambiguous categories such as angry white women or angry illegal immigrants? This is a hilariously ridiculous and nonsensical historical course– especially for those who think they have or can honestly define an angry white male as a discrete group of society. Oh, I just made it into the group by wasting 5 minutes to scoff at this “historian”.

“…the Congressman condemned ‘creating a hostile campus environment based on gender.'”

“This professor’s hate speech is violence, which directly threatens the lives and safety of me and members of my community. The University cannot continue to condone this violence towards members of its own student body. We demand this professor be removed from his duties.”

Sauce.
