The White House announced President Joe Biden has COVID-19. Oh, boy:
“”This morning, President Biden tested positive for COVID-19,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a written statement. “He is fully vaccinated and twice boosted and experiencing very mild symptoms. He has begun taking Paxlovid. Consistent with CDC guidelines, he will isolate at the White House and will continue to carry out all of his duties fully during that time. He has been in contact with members of the White House staff by phone this morning, and will participate in his planned meetings at the White House this morning via phone and Zoom from the residence.”
“Consistent with White House protocol for positive COVID cases, which goes above and beyond CDC guidance, he will continue to work in isolation until he tests negative,” Jean-Pierre continued. “Once he tests negative, he will return to in-person work.”
“Out of an abundance of transparency, the White House will provide a daily update on the President’s status as he continues to carry out the full duties of the office while in isolation,” she added.

In a way it reminds me of how God killed the false prophet Muhammad. I don’t know if dementia is regarded as a comorbidity for Covid, but being elderly certainly is. The team of physicians charged with keeping his cognitive decline from declining too rapidly had better pray that Biden’s anti-senility drugs don’t counteract the HCQ or other anti-Covid treatments he needs to receive.

At this point I don’t believe these “has covid” announcements by government officials. One, why make them? Who gives a damn? Two, they seem like they’re being made for strategic rather than bona-fide medical reasons. Three, how do we even know he has covid? What are you doing, pointless daily testing? With PCR that’s basically a “test until positive” regime, because the false positive rates on those things is astoundingly high.
Big fat hairy deal. I’m old, and, as a HS teacher, work in a germ factory. For the past school year, almost every week we had 2-3 people in the school reporting having coivd-19. I caught it in April. Maybe it was because Im vaxxed, maybe because my health is still reasonably good (thanks to God), maybe both, but when I caught it in April, it was merely a pesky, change of weather cold, the only difference being bureacratic rigamarole, and I had to stay home even after symptoms were gone.
Yes, I’m concerned for people who are more vulnerable. But I’m also reminded that the 1919 influenza that carried off my maternal grandfather, almost carried off his wife and an uncle (in foetu), and also killed my father’s first adolescent crush among others of the millions it claimed now keeps us off work for a day or two.
I do not wish bereavement on the Biden family. However, I hope that if the GOP takes Senate and House in 2022, they have the gumption to remove both Biden and Cackle-a Harris for incompetency, along with a lot of the cabinet.
