Kathy Barnette, Upset Candidate in PA Republican Senate Primary Race, Takes Heat From All Sides

“Barnette surged in recent polls in the upcoming Pennsylvania Republican US Senate primary, putting her in a dead heat between Donald Trump-endorsed former TV star Mehmet Oz and former hedge fund manager David McCormick.”

We recently profiled Kathy Barnette, a candidate in the Pennsylvania Republican primary for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania, who has become a sensation after her rapid rise in the polls.

People on both sides have noticed the growing interest in her, and she is now under fire from every direction.

CNN is lazily going after her in the same way they attack all conservatives:

Surging GOP candidate Kathy Barnette has long history of bigoted statements against gays and Muslims

Surging Pennsylvania GOP Senate candidate Kathy Barnette has a history of anti-Muslim and anti-gay statements. In many tweets, Barnette also spread the false conspiracy theory that former President Barack Obama is a Muslim.

In one speech uploaded to YouTube in 2015, Barnette forcefully argued it was OK to discriminate against Muslims and compared rejecting Islam to “… rejecting Hitler’s or Stalin’s worldviews.” In comments on her radio show, she said accepting homosexuality would lead to the accepting of incest and pedophilia. One post she wrote called a transgender person “deformed” and “demonic.”

Barnette surged in recent polls in the upcoming Pennsylvania Republican US Senate primary, putting her in a dead heat between Donald Trump-endorsed former TV star Mehmet Oz and former hedge fund manager David McCormick.

It’s not just the left, though. Trump, who has endorsed Dr. Oz, is also questioning Barnette’s viability while saying he will back her in the general election if she clinches the nomination.

The Hill reports:

Trump warns GOP voters against Barnette in Pennsylvania Senate race

Former President Trump warned Pennsylvania Republican voters on Thursday to vote against Kathy Barnette in the state’s Senate primary next Tuesday, putting his muscle into an effort to quash an eleventh-hour surge by the conservative activist.

Trump, who has endorsed celebrity cardiothoracic surgeon Mehmet Oz in the race, said that “Kathy Barnette will never be able to win the General Election against the Radical Left Democrats” and raised questions over her biography — while indicating he’d still back her in a general if she does indeed clinch the GOP nomination.

“She has many things in her past which have not been properly explained or vetted, but if she is able to do so, she will have a wonderful future in the Republican Party — and I will be behind her all the way,” he said. “Dr. Oz is the only one who will be able to easily defeat the Crazed, Lunatic Democrat in Pennsylvania. A vote for anyone else in the Primary is a vote against Victory in the Fall!”

On Wednesday night, even Sean Hannity of FOX News dug into some of Barnette’s old tweets before having on Dr. Oz, who made some dubious claims about Barnette, such as saying she wanted to build a statue of Obama, which I suspect is the twisting of something she said in sarcasm:

Barnette has since issued this challenge to Hannity and Oz:

The Pennsylvania primary is next Tuesday. If Barnette pulls out a surprise win, the real slime will start to fly in the liberal media.

Then put your shooting muffs on:

Before anyone could ask why Nevada Republican leaders favor the likes of Joe Lombardo and Mark Amodei (to the exclusion of any challenger), party chairman opened the gathering with ‘I was not bribed!’

…Why is “No Questions” Lombardo suddenly leading in these alleged “polls”? Because someone has thrown a huge chunk of money into his campaign, obviously. Who? Anyone who’s covered Nevada politics for as much as a couple of years would have to be playing dumb to fail to name the two most obvious suspects – the owners of Las Vegas’ major hotel-casinos (the state’s biggest industry), and/or the powerful Culinary Union, which represents many, many of those hotel-casinos’ employees, an arrangement which curiously ends up being more advantageous for the union’s bosses than for their menial-level rank and file.

Why? Leave aside for the moment the suspicion that Joe Lombardo “carried the casinos’ water” to keep the “narrative” of the 2017 mass shooting under control. Long before that, for decades, these interests have tried to arrange things so someone they can trust to do their bidding – to not upset the apple cart when it comes to the many low-wage illegal aliens they employ to keep their room rates down, for instance – occupies BOTH the Democrat and Republican ballots for governor. (Tax-hiking Brian Sandoval was a “Republican”? Hoo-hah!)…

…Furthermore, in seven years as Clark County Sheriff, Joe Lombardo has never launched or cooperated in a SINGLE known raid of the major hotels along the Las Vegas Strip, rounding up for deportation the thousands of illegal aliens employed there as maids and kitchen helpers – many of whom the Culinary Union has even registered to vote, whereupon the union brags about driving such illegals to “early voting stations” in supermarket parking lots the week before election day.

This has Soros written ALL over it.

She even looks like his type. (Most of his investments tend to be at least somewhat attractive.)

I have to be — and I hope you’ll be — honest on this one.

I want to support Barnette, but I don’t know much about her. What are her **true** qualifications to serve as a United States senator? What are her academic and work backgrounds? How about her military experience? Is it real? Solid?

If anyone here on LI can point me to some sources that provide some definitive, verifiable details on her background, I would surely appreciate it.

Black woman, grew up poor, seemingly conservative? There’s not enough there there.

    CommoChief in reply to tiger66. | May 13, 2022 at 4:26 pm

    How about the fact that she is taking fire from both;
    1. Only Trump crowd
    2. McConnell /establishment wing

The two other choices in PA, more candidates in the primary but three at the top are:
    1. McCormick – rino establishment choice
    2. Oz – used to be rino, previously very soft on 2A, soft on trans/LGBTQ indoctrination in schools. Has he really converted to MAGA? Was the 2nd choice of DJT so….
    3. Barnette

Oz is a dual citizen of Turkey and I assume a muslim.

Just being a citizen of Turkey is enough to disqualify him 1,000%.

If Barnette is an American, she has him beat right there.

    Ironclaw in reply to tiger66. | May 13, 2022 at 7:40 pm

Judge a person by who chooses to oppose them. The people opposing her are not people I wish to align myself with, even temporarily.

    henrybowman in reply to tiger66. | May 13, 2022 at 7:43 pm

“What are her **true** qualifications to serve as a United States senator? What are her academic and work backgrounds? How about her military experience? Is it real? Solid?”

    What were Trump’s?

Sometimes, a person’s best qualifications may consist of what he NEVER was.

    geronl in reply to tiger66. | May 13, 2022 at 10:02 pm

She is over 30 and a US citizen. That makes her qualified to be a Senator.

henrybowman in reply to geronl. | May 13, 2022 at 11:06 pm

      Davey Crockett was a senator.
Where did HE go to school?
      What were HIS qualifications?
And yet, he was a damn good senator.

      1. He ran away from home at the age of 13 and made a living doing odd jobs for settlers and wagon drivers.
      2. He was an honest and hardworking young man. Of his own free will, he decided to work for six months to pay off one of his father’s debts. In his twenties, he enlisted in the Army in time to fight in Alabama in the Creek War. He distinguished himself as a scout and hunter.

    alohahola in reply to tiger66. | May 14, 2022 at 6:25 am

I’m with you. She comes out of nowhere like Obama did (when he first ran for Congress in South Side Chicago) but with horrible credentials even if they are real.

It’s hard for me to respect adjunct professors in the first place, but adjunct professors from lame universities? Sorry, Chickie, you ain’t got the chops.

The more they lie about her, the more she surges. The question going around is, is Hannity the one who conned Trump into endorsing a radical leftist Democrat turncoat?

The fact that the liberals like CNN are going hard on her BEFORE the primary tells me that they’re afraid of her in the general election.

If she were such a bad candidate that she couldn’t win, then they’d be suppressing the stories until after the primary.

CommoChief in reply to Olinser. | May 13, 2022 at 5:08 pm

Indeed. If the CNN types were not scared of Barnette they would be pushing her candidacy to foil Trump’s choice, Oz and get her and McCormick into a runoff.

chrisboltssr in reply to Olinser. | May 13, 2022 at 6:07 pm

Look at her campaign video telling her story about not being aborted by her Mama and try not to have a dry eye. That still impresses me and if I were a PA resident she would get my vote based on that alone.

alohahola in reply to Olinser. | May 14, 2022 at 6:27 am

Nah, I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re playing some reverse psychology on this one.

That’s not how it works. None of these candidates are any good. This is just a game of endorsements. Whoever Trump endorses, McConnell (and Cruz) will endorse someone else. Even the Democrats are trying to influence the Republican primary by pretending to be afraid of the weakest candidate hoping that will be their opponent. Is this your first rodeo?

We are all getting all worked up over a race where whoever wins will be suspect. Trump will OWN Oz should he win. He is the most likely candidate to be reliable to vote correctly regardless of his obvious flaws. McCormick? Stereotypical Wall Street candidate? What is wrong with Cruz anyway?

The only interesting thing about these discussions is how revealing it is to see the masks drop among us. There are too many here who simply cannot rid themselves of the old Dem/Rep, lib/con narrative. It’s about THE UNIPARTY!!!.

I’m an old guy myself but I think too many of us are just too old to change our ways of thinking despite having been red pilled about what is really going on. When old ways of thinking and acting clearly don’t work, we have to change. Yet, the best certain people here can do to argue against Trump is to turn into Grandpa Brandon and call us a Trump cult. The Stupid Party is still alive and strong.

Ah… qualifications. Always a question.

The legal qualifications are few- so I wish people would even stop asking “Is this person qualified?” The real questions are, among others:
What does she stand for?
Is she genuine or a stealth candidate?
Does she have a backbone?

So the big attack is she’s said bad things about muslims. Not hard to do if you tell the truth about them. But let’s do the she said they said comparison. What kind of hatred against Jews have actual DemoncRAT officeholders preached? Seems “hate speech “ against the right groups is a prerequisite in DemoncRAT districts. So there’s an issue I care nothing about.

Gun control. Apparently she’ believes it means hitting the target. A plus.

Will she be a reliable conservative Bo? Well, she’s being attacked by all the right people that indicates she will be.

Can she win? Remember- Trump couldn’t possibly win against Hillary. Times they are a’changing. I wouldn’t place a bet on any election this year. Hochul may have unleashed enough anger against her that Zeldin might actually win in NY.

Close The Fed in reply to gospace. | May 13, 2022 at 5:40 pm

Honestly, the worse she says about muslims and their religion, the MORE qualified she is.

They follow a psychopath, sociopath, whatever the worst term is. They don’t belong in America and we need to exclude them from the U.S.A. and deport the ones here.

Dathurtz in reply to gospace. | May 13, 2022 at 6:25 pm

I wish we were able to choose the beat person from a group of educated and wise and experienced candidates who all agree to put our citizens before the citizens of other nations.

Sadly, we have entered an era where “qualified” usually means brainwashed prog or WEF stooge.

I will take “loves our country” and “obeys federal limits” above anything else right now.

CommoChief in reply to Dathurtz. | May 13, 2022 at 7:02 pm

Many similar problems with the Alabama Senate primary. We have:
      1. Durrant – vet, business owner, outsider but refuses to debate and has made anti 2A statements plus is being backed by lots of out of State $
      2. Brooks – Congressman solidly MAGA but earned DJT ire when he refused to state that DJT could somehow be installed as POTUS after Biden was inaugurated. Plus he’s been around a long time, professional politician not a rino but a bit shady
      3. Britt – newcomer but was the current Senator CoS several years ago. She is saying all the right things about immigration and wages. Will she deliver or be captured by McConnell? She has establishment ties but so does Durrant

Right now it’s likely Britt even in a run off. Durrant isn’t making in state campaign stops, refuses to debate and basically is trying to buy the win with ads and a phoned in candidacy. Brooks is fading and the fact DJT turned his back on him hurts his campaign. Brooks was the first congressman to endorse Trump so the lack of grace being extended him by Trump is glaring.

Juris Doctor | May 13, 2022 at 5:18 pm

The only relevant and meaningful question to be answered is can she beat Fetterman in the general election. he very clear answer to that question is no, she cannot.

OMG…Burn her at the stake!//

I’m voting for Kathy again, 2020 was the first time.
I’m hoping she gets the nomination as think the election in fall is a good shot for the Republican.s.
A few more days then it’s over or the heat will get hotter.

I sent her a few bucks. I really don’t know a lot about her, but the vehement opposition of the Establishment GOP is good enough for me.

I think Trump is poised to endorse Doug Mastriano for Governor. Mastriano has already endorsed Barnette and vice versa

I would like the electability people to produce whatever they think makes her non-viable or shut up about electability and be honest that they want the Bush era surrender on every issue besides taxes.

alohahola in reply to Danny. | May 14, 2022 at 6:31 am

I think it’s the fact that she’s black.

CommoChief in reply to Danny. | May 14, 2022 at 1:27 pm

The ironic thing is that both the establishment type NEVER Trump folks AND the ONLY Trump folks are pushing the ‘she can’t win in the general election’ BS. Strange bedfellows.

Danny in reply to CommoChief. | May 14, 2022 at 9:08 pm

I 100% agree. If she is unelectable both rank amongst the most incompetent political forces known (supposedly she has skeletons yet two political war machines are incapable of showing said skeletons to the voters? I think not).

Each day neither produce anything on this woman I am more and more convinced that they have nothing.

PrincetonAl | May 13, 2022 at 9:56 pm

She has been consistent in her positions throughout the campaign

https://citizenfreepress.com/breaking/kathy-barnette-answers-all-the-questions/

She is answering the questions coming in to her. See link.

Kathy says she has been delayed in some inquiries because she is short staffed – probably true.

https://citizenfreepress.com/breaking/laura-ingraham-stands-up-for-kathy-barnette/

Laura is correct that a lot of the mud thrown at her has been attempts to take her out of context.

I investigated the Obama statue claims, etc. most of the mud seems desperate quick hits.

I am not saying she is a perfect candidate, she’s not.

I am not saying I have done enough diligence – I haven’t.

However, nothing has truly stuck either. It’s a shame more diligence wasn’t done earlier.

At this point I am leaning Barnette barring a real bomb dropping.

I just don’t see McCormick or Oz as helping advance the policies I want advanced, so I am willing to roll the dice to be honest because I don’t think I have anything to lose.

A RINO Senator doesn’t work for me. It’s important to tell the establishment we won’t accept their candidates.

Is she a real conservative or Christine “I am not a witch” O’Donnell? I don’t know.

But if she wins I’m riding her out to November no matter how much mud flies at her unless she’s a complete criminal and fraud.

Hate that more diligence wasn’t done, but do not like Oz. The transgender craze thing shows he has no moral compass. How can I vote for that?

That’s why I think the risk is worth it, but let’s keep digging see what turns up.

alohahola in reply to PrincetonAl. | May 14, 2022 at 6:56 am

I don’t buy her reason for delay. Even if true, it’s not a good excuse. Her response should have been more upstanding than blaming it on non-staff, anyway.

Danny in reply to PrincetonAl. | May 14, 2022 at 9:13 pm

If she wins and turns out to be a criminal and we elect her we get a second election immediately and get a second chance; if she turns out to be a criminal and the democrat wins they have the seat for at least 6 years, so if she wins nomination stick with her even if a skeleton comes out of the closet (actually stick with Oz or McCormick if either of them wins to; bad Republicans are still better than the best Democrat on every issue especially judges).

Is write-in an option?

Peabody in reply to alohahola. | May 14, 2022 at 9:41 am

Not for me as usually it’s a throw away unless some big campaign for it is happening. For Senate for me if not Kathy and it is Oz I will not fill out that slot. Governor anyone not a Totalitarian Democrat has to be better.

49 comments (now 50), and not one solid link to verifiable information about Barnette’s background and experience.

I don’t know about you, but that’s troublesome for me.

    txvet2 in reply to tiger66. | May 14, 2022 at 12:48 pm

You could do your own research rather than demanding others do it for you. I noticed a link to Google above. I prefer DDG, although they’re not ideal either. There are others.

      tiger66 in reply to txvet2. | May 14, 2022 at 1:21 pm

“Demand” is a little strong; how about asking for?

By asking for sources, I was trying to prove a point … and I did so.

      Q.E.D.

        CommoChief in reply to tiger66. | May 14, 2022 at 1:32 pm

Bro, go to her campaign website. Call her campaign offices and ask them whatever questions you wish. The absence of your preferred method or manner of response isn’t dispositive.

        txvet2 in reply to tiger66. | May 15, 2022 at 1:28 am

Reiterating it sort of puts it in the “demand” column. You still have the option of doing your own research, and declining to do so proves a point -but not the one you intended.

    Mercyneal in reply to tiger66. | May 14, 2022 at 6:01 pm

Do your own research. Google is your friend. Comment section at Predictit has done a very good job of looking into her

    Nobody’s got anything.

    Barnette is a plant.

Not from Pennsylvania so I don’t have a say….BUT, anytime a candidate tries to hide or delay the release of documents pertaining to themselves (DD214 for example), there is a problem. I also heard her disparaging whites, so that would be a negative for me. On the plus side, she seems to hate muslims and queers, so there’s that.
