House Progressive Democrats Want Biden to Declare National ‘Climate Emergency’
Democrats want to ban oil drilling on federal lands and end fossil fuel subsidies.
Progressive Democrats in the House of Representatives want to call on Biden to use his executive power to declare climate change a national emergency and to ban fossil fuel drilling on public lands.
The request from the Congressional Progressive Caucus comes as many Democratic clean energy priorities have stalled in Congress. The push for the sweeping use of the executive powers expected from the group of nearly 100 lawmakers on Thursday will also touch issues such as student loan debt, voting rights and immigration.
Rep. Jared Huffman (D-Calif.), a caucus member, told POLITICO that calling on Biden to declare a climate emergency would be one of the “centerpiece” actions to headline their executive order plan.

I have diligently covered the coronavirus pandemic for the past 2 years. Clearly, Democrats have taken all the wrong lessons from the pandemic, in terms of selecting actions that are in the nation’s best interest.
However, in terms of holding on to power and using it, the Democrats have developed an effective playbook.
1) Declare a national emergency, asserting we have to act now or there will be death on a global scale (and there is no time for validating scientific research).
2) Use the bureaucracy to enforce rules rather than have Congress create real laws.
3) Denounce anyone who doesn’t agree with the policies, and has alternative solutions, as an Earth-hating denier.
4) Dismiss any scientific study that doesn’t validate claims as “misinformation”.
5) Use government funds to support research that further enhances the policies you have established.
6) Make sure you have financial ties to all the industries that are supporting your plans.
It looks like I am going to have to dust off my meteorology, climatology, and geologic history books.
The Democrats also want to use the “climate crisis” to restart the Build Back Better social spending bill.
Now with Biden’s Build Back Better Act — and the more than $550 billion contained within to fight climate change — suspended amid objections from Republicans and Democratic Senators Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona, progressives a launching a Plan B. Their new campaign is designed to get Biden to declare an emergency to stave off global warming.
“If we can’t work with Manchin to get Build Back Better done, it’s time to use his executive authority,” said Representative Jared Huffman, a California Democrat, and one of several in the Congressional Progressive Caucus urging Biden to use emergency authority. “It’s one of the clearest ways to bolster his authority and open up some policy options so he can meet the moment.”
Backing the new push is Representative Earl Blumenauer, an Oregon Democrat, who wrote legislation mandating national climate emergency declaration, along with progressive Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
“The scientists, experts, and all of our own lived experiences in the past few years make it clear: this is a climate emergency and it is past time to take action,” Blumenauer said.

Generally speaking, low info voters are those who work outside an office. It’s a whole lot easier to browse a news site on a coffee break or just goofing off when you have a CPU on a desk as opposed to driving a rig, working on a pipeline, a construction site, at another skilled trade or otherwise not in an office all day. Especially when you are your own boss.
There are very few unifying moments in American life anymore. One is filling up with gas another is the purchase of groceries. Regular, workaday folks may not have read the latest article or viewed the newest podcast but they damn sure notice the increase in costs for food and fuel. That’s why the admin is spinning ‘Putin’s price hike’ so hard. They desperately need to fix blame anywhere but the failed Biden energy policy.
To some extent you are correct, but you don’t have to have viewed the latest podcast to know that plants need carbon dioxide so limiting it is counterproductive to plant life.
Exactly, any HS graduate should be able to remember that. They may not know about the Maunder minimum or the effects of the sun on temperature change or that we may be entering a period of prolonged cooling due to decreased solar activity. These sorts of things are available in academic works, accessible on line in various formats; general interest websites including podcasts.
These hardworking folks, particularly the self employed, don’t frequent the internet or read these books; not because they are stupid or disinterested, far from it, they are too busy working and too tired at the end of the day. That’s one reason for the popularity of talk radio. People can listen during the working hours while they are turning wrenches.

Numerous progressive websites list 12-15 tax provisions as “tax subsidies”. Basically any tax deduction for an out of pocket cash expenditure is a subsidy in the minds of the anti fossil fuel activists
As a tax professional in federal and state taxation, I can confirm, the only actual subsidy in the tax code is percentage depletion in excess of basis which only applies to the non intergrated producers.

As it stands now, Biden’s actions now have a 10 month shelf life. What he and even possibly “she” will be left with coming November elections will be a “a 24 month Veto Pen” with a limited amount of ink. The legacy of this term of Democrat majority will be how quickly and how badly they diminished our country beyond the pale and took us back 40 years. It is predicted to regain the strength of influence and financial stability will be a minimum of 10 years to achieve a point in time where we were 26 months ago. If this was truly about “saving mother Earth” and the situation was that dire- every country on Earth would have to be involved ( voluntary or by force) and there would be no allowances for “developing” of “impoverished” nations.
2. The left WANTS you to fall into the “mire” trap ( quicksand) to consume all your efforts, energy and resources fighting a straw man argument. They do this by keeping everyone focused on how “stupid” the left is and trying to “show they are wrong” and all that when they know its a scam coming out of the gate. They WANT you to think you are “smarter” than them ( just like a mark always things he can game the con man) because you get “appeased’ and this lets them win.
3. The truth is 2 fold in terms of what this truly is:
A- Climate Change actively is a scam with the sole purpose of wealth redistribution in order to “break” people financially in a Cloward-Piven scenario in order to increase govt dominion over the sheeple.
B- Climate Change is passively a “control technique” rather than say a “conquering army” taking over a population and forcing edicts ( which generate and fuel opposition)- this is a subtle “no specific enemy” type of overall control from an infinite number of “rules and regulations” covering a broad spectrum of life.
This is similar to the frog boiling scenario but it gives no clear “responsible party ( Alinsky technique) to focus opposition against and it breeds surrender through a combination of personal frustration combined with the inability to create “organized resistance” against a specific entity ( cant shoot down a cloud no matter how many missiles you have) as well as a truly 360 degree attack hitting at all points at all times.
