Florida Passes the ‘Stop W.O.K.E. Act’ Targeting Critical Race Theory

“will strengthen state civil rights laws and prohibit schools, corporations, and government agencies from promoting race essentialism, collective guilt, and racial scapegoating in the classroom or the workplace”

The Florida legislature has passed the ‘Stop W.O.K.E. Act’ which will now head to the desk of Governor Ron DeSantis for his signature.

WOKE stands for “Stop the Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees” and prohibits critical race training in schools and corporations.

Chris Rufo, who has been a leading figure in the fight against Critical Race Theory, writes:

Florida Passes the Stop W.O.K.E. Act

Today, the Florida state legislature passed the Stop W.O.K.E. Act, the strongest anti-critical race theory legislation in the nation.

The bill, which now heads to Governor DeSantis’ desk for signature, will strengthen state civil rights laws and prohibit schools, corporations, and government agencies from promoting race essentialism, collective guilt, and racial scapegoating in the classroom or the workplace.

I had the honor of working with Governor DeSantis and his team on the policy vision for the Stop W.O.K.E. Act and spoke with the governor at the launch event. DeSantis is the real deal: he has a substantive policy vision, has mastered the art of pushing back against false media narratives, and remains fearless in the face of the opposition.

Florida Senate Passes Race Education Bill, Goes to DeSantis for Signature

Florida lawmakers on Thursday passed a bill that would limit how educators discuss certain racial issues in classrooms.

The bill, known as HB 7/Individual Freedom, was passed by the Senate along party lines Thursday and now goes to Gov. Ron DeSantis, who was expected to sign it into law.

DeSantis and Republican lawmakers in the state have pushed for legislation to prevent Critical Race Theory instruction in schools, with the governor proposing a “Stop W.O.K.E. Act” last year to take aim against CRT in schools. The acronym stands for “Stop the Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees.”

Proponents said the bill simply states that teachers and businesses can’t force students and employees to feel they are to blame for racial injustices in America’s past.

Opponents said the legislation was designed to create racial division and would have a chilling effect on the discussion of injustices past and present.

People on the left, who insist that Critical Race Theory is not being taught, seem pretty upset about this.

Florida Lawmakers Pass ‘Stop Woke Act’ To Stifle School, Work Instruction On Racism

The Florida legislature on Thursday passed a bill meant to stifle discussions of racism, privilege and white supremacy in the state’s schools and workplaces.

House Bill 7 — dubbed the “Stop W.O.K.E. Act” by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis — passed the state senate in a 24-15 vote along party lines, with Republicans voting in favor…

Genesis Robinson, political director of the Equal Ground Action Fund, a Black-led political nonprofit, slammed Florida’s lawmakers for passing the “deeply harmful” bill.

“For Black people and all people of color across the state, this bill is whitewashing our history in America because conversations about historical, factual events may make white students, their parents, and employees uncomfortable,” Robinson said, calling the legislation a “denial of history.”

Florida’s bill is the latest in a wave of similar legislation passed in other states — including Texas and Mississippi — meant to prevent teaching about systemic racism and white privilege in schools.

Between Ron DeSantis and Glenn Youngkin, conservatives are making significant strides in taking back education. The left forgot that parents are the taxpayers who fund the schools.

Use government, use the power voters give us to stop this plague of woke totalitarianism going unchecked due to all power structures being in one direction.

I love it, absolutely love it and to rub some salt into anyone still quoting Ayn Rand instead of George Washington (father of the male for male citizens to buy guns who governed at a time of something called “obscenity”) “will strengthen state civil rights laws and prohibit schools, corporations, and government agencies from promoting race essentialism, collective guilt, and racial scapegoating in the classroom or the workplace”

Failure to ditch Laissez Faire means Libs win, I like the DeSantis approach. businesses and the public square has always been governed by rules set by government and always will be, lets finally use our influence in government.

    Danny,

Speaking as a recovering libertarian absolutist I agree that the Marketplace can be corrupted or perverted by those with an agenda. That doesn’t mean the free market ideal doesn’t work; it means that fallible human beings will always seek unfair advantage when left to their own devices. Whether that’s rent seeking or just crafting regulations to disfavor competition or create artificial barriers to potential new entrants in a given market.

We don’t have a free market in the US. You are correct that the populist right would be better served by a set of policies that stop pretending we have anything resembling free markets. Our political class is deeply in bed with market manipulators of all stripes. The answer is to use our political advantage in the State legislatures to shift corporations back towards neutral position. One which doesn’t favor or disfavor any particular side or ideology.

Even libertarianism has limits on what government-sponsored education can indoctrinate with, particularly in regards to children.

Regardless, libertarianism is only viable if all parties are agreeable on a general notion of as much freedom as possible that doesn’t greatly compromise the lives of others. Leftist pigs have made libertarianism a non-viable strategy and taught us that they must be stopped by any means necessary since they are willing to use any means necessary to accomplish their totalitarian, fascist goals.

More like corrupted the ideals of libertarianism with that of libertine. The libertarian respects the limit of their own liberty as the line where the liberty of another begins. In contrast the libertine outlook recognizes no limit on their own liberty while placing constraints on the liberty of others.

The saga of the Masterpiece Cake Shop reflects this. The owner / artist has a right to refuse to apply his talents to further the rights of others. The LGBTQA+ or whatever they are calling themselves today, refuse to recognize either negate or positive rights of others.

Very briefly positive right = voicing ones own opinions regarding LGBTQA; which these neo fascists call ‘hate speech’. Negative right = exercising ones own right to take no action in support which the neo fascists call insufficiently woke, non affirming, tolerant of ‘isms’. IOW one must adopt the libertine viewpoint or be labeled as a reactionary bigot.

Libertarians don’t oppose common sense laws, regulations or ordinances. Nuisance laws as an example. I have a right to play whatever music I choose for my own enjoyment at a decibel level that I choose. However, I do not have the right to choose a decibel level that impacts your right to peace and quiet.

          Slight modification?

“The owner / artist has a right to refuse to apply his talents to further political aims he disagreed with.”

I’ll sell you a cake, you decorate it however you want to.

Finally seeing some normalcy coming back into the schools! After the left kicked MLK Jr. to the curb for the new leftist religion of “wokeism,” we can restore real teaching t0 the class.

This, and the bill to stop forcing homosexuality down little children’s throats, is cause for kudos for DeSantis and Florida.

“Equity” demands racism, equality abhors it.

One state out of 50 and look how close Florida was to having a crack head male prostitute , drug overdose Governor

    Waaaayyy tooo close!

Somebody needs to ask the leftist control freaks why they’re so excited about legislation outlawing something they say doesn’t even exist.
.

Reading Race Marxism, CRT has gotten way to main stream and needs to be stopped. Its working its way into every facet of society and entertainment.

Anyone seen Fatkins recently? 🤣

Seems to have disappeared. Maybe a little to much bad news like Russia getting bitch fucked in the Ukrain getting our dear bot down??

I’m appreciating the irony that the the state most activated against today’s woke neo-racism is the state where the term “cracker” (“whip-cracker”) originated.
Crackers Against Racism.
Such a nice ring to it.

You don’t see the irony of using a pejorative term about Southern whites to make a point about racism?

henrybowman in reply to rochf. | March 12, 2022 at 8:35 pm

Yes, I do see the irony. That’s my point.
Besides, it’s OUR word. We get to use it.
Those are the rules today. Right?

Danny in reply to henrybowman. | March 12, 2022 at 8:44 pm

The way some African Americans use the N word has made it more popular to use than any time post-civil rights movement, if you want to follow them by bringing the racial slur cracker back…..

The rules are play stupid games win stupid prizes, I hear young non-African Americans use the N word often enough to know that was the result of rappers and others trying to make it ok for them to use it.
