Democrats don’t have much to run on in November. Gas prices and inflation are reaching record highs, COVID is still an issue, they have no foreign policy successes, and Biden is underwater with pretty much everyone.

So what are they going to do? Demonize the opposition.

Tristan Justice writes at The Federalist:

Democrats Admit Jan. 6 Committee Is All About Midterms

House Democrats prosecuting political dissidents in the form of the Select Committee on Jan. 6 admitted this week the show trial investigation is all about the November midterms.

On Friday, The Washington Post chronicled the committee’s next steps in a feature headlined “Jan. 6 committee faces a thorny challenge: Persuading the public to care” as Americans lose enthusiasm for severe retribution against those involved with a constitutionally protected rally 14 months ago, who are the true target of the committee’s work as opposed to perpetrators of the Capitol riot.

He points out a key passage in the Washington Post:

Now the Jan. 6 Committee has become the Democrats’ new hoax, aimed not at probing the security failures at the Capitol but at smearing political dissidents in the run-up to midterms. Democrats admitted what was already obvious to The Washington Post on Friday.

“Their challenge: Making the public care deeply — and read hundreds of pages more — about an event that happened more than a year ago, and that many Americans feel they already understand,” the Post highlighted, followed by the passage below (emphasis ours):

They’ll attempt to do so this spring through public hearings, along with a potential interim report and a final report that will be published ahead of the November midterms — with the findings likely a key part of the Democrats midterm strategy. They hope their recommendations to prevent another insurrection will be adopted, but also that their work will repel voters from Republicans who they say helped propel the attack.

This strategy has actually been in the works for months. The left-wing columnist Amanda Marcotte wrote at Salon back in January:

The 2022 midterms will be all about Jan. 6: Democrats can win if they fight Trump’s Big Lie

Donald Trump may have canceled his press conference to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the January 6 insurrection that he incited on the Capitol, but he still has managed to communicate his desire for the event to be lauded as a glorious revolution. He wants to whitewash an act of domestic terrorism in the name of fascism, making life extremely hard for Republican politicians who wish to remain on the fence over the question…

Polling shows that a huge majority of Americans disapprove of the insurrection at the Capitol. But in 2024 election match-ups, President Joe Biden and Trump are neck-in-neck. That can only mean that a lot of voters are happy to vote Republican, so long as they can keep telling themselves a story about how Republicans are not the party of violent insurrection…

Democrats can — and critically should — make sure Republicans can’t play this game.

This is probably not going to work, especially if prices keep going up, but expect the media to play along.

The closer we get to November, the more we’ll hear about January 6th.

This election is going to be about inflation. The Dems must have forgotten how much people hate runaway inflation.

This week Hannity made a remark that the 7.9% reported inflation rate would be 16% if measured as in the 1970’s, the last major inflation spike. The method of measuring was changed so as not to count a switch from filet mignon to chuck or a shrinkage in size as inflation., owners equivalent rent, etc. If what Hannity said is correct, real wage increases – actual wage increases less inflation – are so negative that people will be getting increasingly angry, and not at Putin.

What they’re hoping is that they can make hundreds of millions of people forget that anythig at all has happened SINCE January 6, 2021.

You know, every time I fill my gas tank and then go buy groceries…Jan. 6 is what, deep down, really pisses me off.

Well, it didn’t bother me at first, but they kept telling me how terrible it was. Worse than anything in recorded history. Worse than the extinction of the dinosaurs. I don’t care if gas prices reach $100 a gallon. Jan 6 is all I care about.

Downticker needs his sarc detector recalibrated.

Republicans should answer: “That was two years ago. We need to MOVE ON. What difference, at this point, does it make?” Why don’t you Democrats in Washington give all those people their trials, so we can all MOVE ON? You’ve held these people for over a year with no trials! Isn’t that ILLEGAL? Isn’t that BANANA REPUBLIC?”

The next time anyone mentions 1/6 as a terrible and unparalleled disaster ask them how many died during the Civil War at Pearl Harbor and on 9/11 and why the FBI has refused to come clean on what it was doing on 1/6

Interesting. They think they have to run on some Big Thing, so they pick a non-event that they hope they can use to stoke outrage.

The thought of actually doing something about the problems the country is facing seems to have never occurred to them.

Unfortunately , the truth of a color revolution by the Dems and the Deep State using same tactics used to overthrow other governments will not see the light of day.

I would have thought the focus group data would tell them what the rest of us already know. This is a non-starter.

“Stupid is as stupid does”. Ironic words from a liberal actor.

Absolutely, and beyond, they are scared to death their house of cards comes crashing down.

Neck-in-neck?

Lucky for them that nothing whatsoever has happened since then.

What happened on Jan. 6th??

If somebody is doing their job, we’ll learn that the FBI staged an invasion of the Capitol building, and entrapped common citizens into participating. And hopefully we’ll learn it on October 1. Or just ahead of whatever the early date is when stupid people can mail in their stupid votes.

Several people paraded with intent to fist bump. It was horrifying.

“Wheel of Fortune” premiered. Truly a dark day in American history, and one that should never be forgotten.

Hardly anyone cares, to the extent they do care, most people wish that there was a successful insurrection that could have avoided the disastrous Biden presidency.

If only the J6 Inquisition could connect the J6 ‘insurrection’ with Russia.

You know they’re trying to do it.

I won’t be surprised if they concoct a way two weeks before the mid-terms.

It will be deemed ‘legitimate’ by NYT/WaPo/CNN/MS-NBC/Etc. And ‘mostly true’ by Twitter and Facebook fact checkers. And by 51 current and former IC ‘officials’ — the usual suspects, including Brennan and Clapper. It worked before. And they’ll probably have nothing to lose by giving it another shot.

henrybowman in reply to JHogan. | March 20, 2022 at 2:57 pm

After the Republicans take both houses, I hope they work their way down the list so generated. I know they won’t, but it’s a happy dream.

The docudrama and coffee table book will be awesome.

J6 “Some people did something.”
N8 “It’s the economy stupid.”

Democrats have been giving me an endless stream of stuff to be pissed about. It is amazing how good they are at picking the most obnoxious, least productive, most divisive side of every issue. Their constant lies, hypocrisy and rabid racism is astounding.

January 6th was a fraud orchestrated by the liberal democrats! They will pay dearly for this, but their insane policies have destroyed our prior net exporter status of oil, a booming economy, low inflation, southern border was under control, a wall was being built, the world was in reasonable control, and the idiot liberals stole an election because they could not win it honestly. We must bring back President’s Trump energy policies that idiot Biden cancelled, putting Americans back to work, allowing the oil pipelines to get back on schedule, allow oil/coal/natural gas/nuclear power to ramp back up, replenish the Petroleum Strategic Oil Reserve that Biden stole from, and become a net exporter of energy! If Biden is too stupid to understand this, then remove the demented fool and next up with this plan in hand!

Moon Battery | March 20, 2022 at 3:05 pm

The sad thing is that the low information voter, or the one that listens to the left leaning MSM will probably fall for this charade.

Bruce Hayden | March 20, 2022 at 3:10 pm

Here’s what to keep in mind:
1) the Dems really did steal the election – in particular, the {residency and at least three Senate seats. And in most states won’t be able to do it this year.
2) I really matters because the FJB Administration and the Palsi/Scheamer Congress is screwing up royally: Rampant inflation. Massive wasteful spending,Lying about COVID-19, political show trials, politicization of FBI and DOJ, wide open borders, foreign energy dependence, etc.
3) The cheating got us gross incompetents in the Presidency and Vice Presidency. Even when the right move is obvious, they do the wrong one, time and time again.
4) So, who is more likely to vote this time? A pissed off Trump voter, or an embarrassed Biden voter? What do they think these partisan witch hunts are going to motivate? The pissed off Trump voters? Or the Millenial/Gen X leftists who have been revealing in their newfound power to implement their Maoist agenda?

I think that, strategically, the reality is that this would be one of the worst things that the Dems could do this year. It will remind Republicans how they got screwed in 2020, as well as of the hero’s of 1/6/21, starting with Ashlii Babbitt, but extending to all the nonviolent protesters locked up without bail or trial. Indeed, one of the best counters is to ask the committee, where is the video? They are sitting on it, violating HoUse Rules by doing it, in order to prevent the public from seeing that there never was a violent demonstration, except by Pelosi’s Capital Police.

And that is very likely why they are pushing this – because if the Republicans get their expected House blowout, Adam Shifty and his buddies will be exposed, and the leaders very likely stripped of their committee assignments, at a minimum. The Republican squishes are being primaried, and there is little chance that their two turncoats will be returning. Which means that there is very likely going to be a Republican majority screaming for the blood of the 1/6 committee. I think that this is the only way that the Dems on the 1/6 committee see surviving politically. I just think it won’t work, and they are just digging their hole deeper.

Olinser in reply to Bruce Hayden. | March 20, 2022 at 3:28 pm

    Striped of their committee assignments?

    Are you on drugs?

McCarthy couldn’t even follow through on his incredibly weak threat to remove Cheney and Kizinger from their committees for participating in the Jan 6 farce, and they’re part of his own party.

You think the RINOs are going to do one single meaningful thing to Democrats?

I mean I’d love to be proven wrong, but at this point its just delusional.

Until and unless every single ‘leader’ of the RINO party is replaced, nothing will change.

Comanche Voter | March 20, 2022 at 3:30 pm

When you got nothing, you have to stir up some what the Germans call “pferdescheiss” to obscure the fact you’ve got nothing. And nothing is what the Dims have got–just a bunch of crazy old geezers and geezettes–I’m looking at you Maxine Waters–screaming and waving their arms.

In those trial, discovery should be eye opening to say the least.

IMO, one of many tragedies of the cancel culture–although this happened long before the introduction of that vapid term–is the erasure of Joel Chandler Harris and the Uncle Remus stories. The story a young white boy learning wisdom at the foot of an old Black man. How racist can you get?
Massive shame goes, of course, to Disney’s removal and probable destruction of the incredible “Song of the South”. I have a PAL video tape, this reminds me to see if I can get it transcribed before it deteriorates. It may well have.

When I was learning to read, the standard fare was “Dick and Jane”. I discovered the Brer Rabbit stories, my reading ability took off like a rocket. I was shortly off the scale in the reading category. As I recall, the Uncle Remus stories were serialized in the Weekly Reader. I would have been in the second grade.

One of many fabulous tales was the Tar Baby story. A lesson for life. Today, when I make a reference to not kicking the tar baby, I get uniformly blank looks.

My message to the Democrats when it comes to making the 2022 election about Jan 6: “Please, please, whatever you do, don’t throw me in that briar patch.”

As far as

I congratulate the Dems for never letting us forget they focus on made up s***. Some of us have real s*** to think about. Like these families.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/u-s-marines-who-perished-in-norway-helicopter-crash-identified/ar-AAVikvd?ocid=msedgntp

Far be it for me to trade on tragedy. But military aviation is a dangerous business. Really, military anything is a dangerous business. I don’t want to be anywhere near a HUMVEE in a roll over collision. Not a lot of soft spots to hit you.

But perhaps more important, when I’m talking about myself I’m talking about myself. A not so obvious distinction in the age of Biden.

So I’m getting ahead of the story. Joe Biden won’t shut up about his son Beau who didn’t die from anything combat related, including training. Beau served, and he did serve so give him credit for that, in an air conditioned office as an Army lawyer. He could have been a lawyer in an air conditioned office in Delaware, so give him credit he did deploy. But he wasn’t suffocating on “burn pit” fumes. He died years later of unrelated cancer.

How did Mr. “Let me talk about myself” Biden get some sort of reputation for empathy?

https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnbaldoni/2020/08/20/how-empathy-defines-joe-biden/?sh=4c1aad9c75cf

This isn’t the kind of thing that would normally bother me. I don’t expect or want politicians to feel my pain, or whatever. I want them to not know I’m alive. But this “empathy Joe” s*** has got to stop. F*** empathy Scranton Joe.

Fortunately, the left is in the unusual position that they believe their own propaganda and those who actually know the truth must keep it silent so the useful idiot class ( they they desperately need for the cannon fodder) doesn’t get educated and leave the plantation.

Unfortunately, right now we are in the untenable position of “hoping” the RINO will do what needs to be done while knowing they wont because they never really have.

Ironically, in a way this IS all about January 6–they stole the election, then tried to fabricate their very own Reichstag Fire to justify it.

Absolutely tru
