Report: Documents Show Biden Admin was Completely Unprepared for Afghanistan Withdrawal

“Outsiders were frustrated and suspicious the administration was having plenty of meetings but was stuck in bureaucratic inertia and lacked urgency until the last minute.”

The Biden Administration’s evacuation of Afghanistan in August of 2021 was a disaster. Some analysts point to that moment as the beginning of Biden’s imploding poll numbers, as Americans were horrified by the images of people clinging to airplanes and falling to their deaths.

Newly leaked documents show that Biden and his team were completely unprepared for this moment.

Jonathan Swan and Hans Nichols broke the news at Axios:

Scoop: Leaked document reveals Biden’s Afghan failures

Leaked notes from a White House Situation Room meeting the day before Kabul fell shed new light on just how unprepared the Biden administration was to evacuate Afghan nationals who’d helped the United States in its 20-year war against the Taliban.

Why it matters: Hours before the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan’s capital on Aug. 15, 2021, senior Biden administration officials were still discussing and assigning basic actions involved in a mass civilian evacuation.

  • Outsiders were frustrated and suspicious the administration was having plenty of meetings but was stuck in bureaucratic inertia and lacked urgency until the last minute.
  • While the word “immediately” peppers the document, it’s clear officials were still scrambling to finalize their plans — on the afternoon of Aug. 14.
  • For example, they’d just decided they needed to notify local Afghan staff “to begin to register their interest in relocation to the United States,” the document says.
  • And they were still determining which countries could serve as transit points for evacuees.

Shelby Talcott of the Daily Caller has more:

The obtained memo was the meeting’s “summary of conclusions” and details how officials were still scrambling to work out simple details for a mass evacuation in Afghanistan. In one note, the memo reveals officials had only then come to the agreement to contact locally employed staff to gauge interest levels “in relocation to the United States.”

The notes also reveal that officials hadn’t yet sorted out exactly what countries would be transit points for those needing to leave Afghanistan.

“State [Department] and DOD [Department of Defense] will begin planning transit processing for evacuees after departure from Kabul,” the document reads.

“The NSC staff will chair a small group discussion to explore ways to engage Canada and other third countries, such as North Atlantic Treaty Organization allies, to host Afghan allies at risk … who have either not been vetted or received limited vetting,” another portion of the memo reads.

It’s stunning to remember that Biden actually left Americans and allies behind. It doesn’t seem real.

There’s a lot of failure to go around here.

– Biden’s handlers made decision without any idea of the facts on the ground. When the facts turned out to be horrifically bad, they made no adjustments, just stuck to their guns.
– The Pentagon should have had the logistics of a pullout planned 20 years ago, updated at least once a year every year in between.
– The state department … Do they even know they work for the U.S.?
– The CIA should have developed clear models of what could happen in Afghanistan to inform decision makers. Instead, they did nothing of substance. They collect a huge budget for what, exactly? Do they have a purpose other than collecting that budget?

The woke jackasses at the Pentagon INTENTIONALLY didn’t plan for it.

They thought that they could just refuse to make a plan for withdrawal, then string them along forever with the justification, ‘well if we pull out now without a plan, it will be a disaster!’

The stupid jackasses simply underestimated the stupidity of the Biden admin.

As if we didn’t know that?

Just ask the Americans stuck there and the horror of our Allies. At least they had the courage to stay and get their people out

We left our people, many still there, 80 billion dollars worth of military equipment but brought 70 thousand Muslims who many are raping children, young as 3 years old ( the culprit said ,” hey, it’s OK in our culture”, some of our own, their own, including child brides.

And we needed a report for that ?

There is no doubt that Kabul was as bad a debacle as Saigon in 1975 and Dunkirk in 1940 and that Biden lied to the American People as to the state of our ability to get Americans and our partners out. What happened was that we airlifted many potential terrorists instead of our partners.

Far worse than Saigon. About 50 Americans were left behind, unable to leave for various reasons (often reporters covering the story). They were arrested and subsequently deported as a group about a month later. At least one or two POWs who defected remained, one returning to the US in 1979, the other apparently moved his family to safety in Cambodia and subsequently died (was killed?) during the Pol Pot insanity.

Interesting difference between the two. We are still reminded, 45 years later, about Saigon when the fall of the Republic of Viet Nam was mostly a direct result of a Democrat congress eliminating all funding for Nixon/Kissinger’s “Vietnamization” program and previous successful rioting by college students. Now, months later, the media hardly ever fails to not inform us of the results of the fall of Kabul and Afghanistan. Wonder why there’s that difference. 😉

Dunkirk doesn’t even compare. That was the direct result of a military defeat and mass retreat, they certainly wouldn’t have CHOSEN to evacuate off the mainland that way, it was literally their only option.

The evacuation of Dunkirk by the swiftly organized fleet of little boats is widely considered to have been a kind of triumph. Something that will never be said about Kabul.

This is the same (censored) thing any large organization does when faced with a decision they don’t like. You have to consider just how many well-paid bureaucrats were collecting massive bonuses for sitting in Kabul and making not-decisions, then add in how many government contracts included kickbacks to the people supposedly in charge there. They did not *want* that gravy train to end, and were clueless enough to think that they would be able to muck things up to a particular point and say “Well, we can’t do it this year. Maybe by next year.”

Then to add to the mess, the military pulled out of the air base before the evacuation of Kabul even really started, which proved to be a horrid decision for which many books will be written.

Reality hit these idiots like a sledgehammer, but it won’t affect their employment. They’re going to get moved to a different department in some other foreign deployment where they can start up the gravy again.

“the military pulled out of the air base before the evacuation of Kabul even really started,”

My nephew working for a government contractor in support services for maintenance of those planes and helicopters pulled their complete teams out within hours after the military loaded those planes with our troops. They were given no time to follow the protocol for disabling any of the above. As a former enlisted, he is still recriminating about how badly this went down had they been able to their job as was the plan if an emergency evac were to come down.

What’s especially galling is that while the vile Dhimmi-crat apparatchiks perennially and narcissistically portray themselves as allegedly being the smartest and most capable people in any given room, the reality is that they are the stupidest, most gullible, most naive and most incompetent people, around, every single time.

If this indicates how inept they were in the middle of that particular ongoing crisis… imagine what is happening right now with Ukraine.

Biden just upped the ante and ordered 3,000 more to be deployed.

WTF … can anyone here explain what we are doing?

Biden keeps turning the knob but with amounts that are pitiful. 6 F-15s into Estonia, 5 Russian made Mi7, 300 javelins missiles.

I can’t shake the feeling Putin wil end up deciding to call the bluff.

If the people are threatened, if their strategic interests are at risk, Putin will. He has demonstrated an unparalleled determination to place Russians first.

“Documents Show Biden Admin was Completely Unprepared for Afghanistan Withdrawal”

Show of hands — who here needed “documents” to determine this?

Did Kerry take a little vacation rip to clue the Taliban in on what Joe’s plans were? Now there’s a document we’d all like to see.

And yet these bozos think they know how to run our lives.

Don’t get me wrong, the Biden admin sucks, but the responsibility for this disaster lies squarely at the feet of the woke political officers in charge of the military.

A year before this Trump TOLD THEM they were pulling out, gave them a specific date, and demanded a plan. They ignored him. Biden’s admin actually moved the withdrawal date back months, and they were STILL unprepared.

This was woke political ‘leaders’ in the military being utterly unqualified for the positions they hold.

Austin and Milley should have been court martialed over this disaster. Not only did that NOT happen, they’re still in their fucking positions.

Court martial Milley and Austin, then impeach and convict the idiot in the Oval Office.

A handmade tale, collateral damage, a politically congruent spectacle, and billions of dollars in state-of-the-art military housewarming gifts.

They could have been better prepared by hiring any random poster on the internet to manage the withdrawal.

The tragedy of the Afghanistan withdrawal, the people left behind, the allies sacrificed, the Afghans who will suffer, the damage to American prestige and its consequences, the people starving, the people murdered because America acted incompetently, should be the lead story in every US newspaper for 10 years. Biden and his cronies should be put behind bars.

plenty of meetings but was stuck in bureaucratic inertia and lacked urgency

I’m the Prez! I don’t do no steenkin’ logistics…

AS it/he/it/them are unprepared for ANY DAMN THING the BUFFOONS do, OR attempt to try to do. IDIOTS one and all

Sadly I’m not surprised. Even Obama warned the entire world when he said, “Never underestimate Joe’s ability to f*** things up.”

Want to bet the Trump admin left than a plan, which Biden promptly trashed because Orangeman Bad? Then Joey Softserve forgot the whole thing.

When I was in the Nav everytime the carrier put to sea the first order of the day was to update the NEO Ops publications. We had a Non-combatant Evacuation Operation plan for every country we were going to sail near. We constantly updated them.

I’m supposed to believe there was never a plan for getting our people out of Afghanistan? We’ve been there, what, 20 years. This is just another manifestation of the Trump Derangement Syndrome. And I blame the people who voted for him. Oatmeal Brain Biden was obviously unfit to be a school cross walk monitor. And they voted him to be President. And they got what they wanted. Like Antifa/#BLM rioters pulling down statues to erase history, all they cared about was erasing Orange Man Bad. And what did that lead to boys and girls? People falling off USAF C-17s. Yeah us!

Scum.

From the linked document:

“(0//FOUO) DOD, in cSordination with the State Task Force, will seek to manifest at. least 5,000 individuals for relocation per day from Afghanistan. (Action: DOD and State, immediately)”

These clowns thought they had days.
