Ottawa Police Use Physical Force to Arrest Great-Grandfather, 78, for Honking in Support of Freedom Convoy

The Ottawa and Canadian government might have lost a lot of support against the Freedom Convoy truckers because video caught police arresting an old man.

Ottawa’s mayor declared a state of emergency while the police forbid anyone from using air horns or car horns on a specific street until February 16.

A new video shows Ottawa police using physical force against Gerry Charlebois, a 78-year-old grandfather who stands at 4’10”, because he honked at the truckers:

“What did he do wrong?” a bystander asks the officer, who initially snaps, “None of your f—ing concern, man.”“It’s an offense — it’s an offense to beep your horn. It is,” the officer later tells a group heckling him for “abusing old men.”Charlebois, who was wearing pajama pants at the time, was eventually marched away in cuffs by two officers who towered over him.

Loudmouths Ottowa Mayor Jim Watson and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have not said anything about Charlbois’s arrest.

I don’t even know why the police officer even arrested him instead of giving him a ticket. Charlebois was not even a demonstrator or participant of the protest!

Charlebois gave the officer a piece of his mind as he tried to get his wallet out of the van.

Can you blame Charlebois for fighting back? He ended up with a $118 ticket for “unnecessary noise.”

Charlebois told The Toronto Sun he “meant no harm.” He gave one “trucker a thumbs-up and a honk.”

The father of four, grandfather of 11, and great grandfather of four is “so sore” and his body “hurts so much.”

Charlebois’ family said you can see cuts and bruises on his arms, hands, shoulders, and knees:

“I was in shock,” Charlebois said. “When (the police) pulled me over, he told me I was in trouble for honking the horn.”While the video shows he cussed at the officer, Charlebois said he respects police “but I was just upset with him.” He said he had never before been arrested or on the wrong side of police.“Never,” he said. “He just pissed me off when he said that about the honking. It upset me.”Things deteriorated from there. After attempting to get his identification from his wallet in the back of his minivan, Charlebois was taken down with the twisting of his arm and hand, and landed on one knee on the ground before being pressed against his van and then, with the help of a second officer, handcuffed behind his back.

Those Ottawa police officers are so tough and brave in arresting Charlebois. That fact upset his son Gerald the most:

“I find it disgusting,” Gerald said. “There was no need to be so rough with him.”With a “very messed-up shoulder” and having difficult moving his arm, Steve said of his dad: “We may have to take him to the hospital for an X-ray.”On Tuesday morning, Gerald said he was “more sore today than yesterday.”
