American Freedom Convoy Heads to D.C., Dems Put Up Capitol Fence Ahead of SOTU

The fence that was erected around the Capitol after the January 6th riot is going back up ahead of Biden’s State of the Union address on March 1st, due to concerns about an American trucker convoy-style protest.

Once again, the very people who told us walls don’t work will be hiding behind one.

Jessica Chasmar reports at FOX News:

Capitol fence to be reinstalled ahead of Biden’s State of the Union address

Security officials will reinstall fencing around the Capitol next week ahead of President Biden’s State of the Union address, Fox News can confirm.

U.S. Capitol Police are bracing for a potential “Freedom Convoy” truck protest to Washington, D.C., for the March 1 speech. “Freedom Convoy” truckers have been protesting in Canada for weeks against coronavirus restrictions and vaccine mandates and caused a temporary blockade of the busy Ambassador Bridge border crossing between Windsor and Detroit.

Capitol Police say they are “aware” of similar protests coming to Washington, D.C., and are making plans to both “facilitate” First Amendment protest activity while working with law enforcement agencies and the D.C. National Guard to prepare for Biden’s address.

“The United States Capitol Police and the United States Secret Service have been closely working together to plan for the upcoming State of the Union,” the U.S. Capitol Police said in a statement Friday.

Sam Raskin of the New York Post points out that this will actually be the third time the fence has gone up:

A razor-wire-topped barrier had stood around the Capitol for months after the Jan. 6, 2021, riots there. The 7-foot-tall fence was erected Jan. 7, 2021.

It was removed in July, only to be reinstalled in September ahead of a planned rally in support of the rioters. It was then taken down again the next day.

But it will now be reinstalled again as the Capitol Police prepare for a potential “Freedom Convoy”-like truck protest to DC for Biden’s speech. The truckers in Canada have been protesting the country’s COVID-19 mandates for weeks, including by forming a blockade of the busy Ambassador Bridge border crossing between Windsor, Canada, and Detroit, Mich., that resulted in disruption of international trade and clashes with local police. The bridge was finally reopened last week.

“Law enforcement agencies across the National Capital Region are aware of plans for a series of truck convoys arriving in Washington, DC around the time of the State of the Union,” said US Capitol Police said Friday in a statement.

This is an excellent point.

I think this is what bothers people the most.

“We identify as undocumented immigrants. Let us in.”

Pretty obvious who they fear and who they don’t. It’s baffling how they can have it completely backwards!

Politicians need a fence for protection from their own people, but no fence to protect against foreign invaders.

My friend will appreciate the resurgence of his song CONVOY.

Convince me that this approaching truck convoy isn’t a DOJ-inspired trick.

Right now I would bet the FJBiden Admin is in consultation with the FBI, NSA,DHS, Antifa and BLM as how to false flag the convoy to create the need for an “Emergency Powers Act” after how the Trudeau/Biden crackdown in Canada has gone.

The New Cuba… stretching from Havana through DC to Ottawa.

“Paging Lon Horiuchi… please pick up the FBI courtesy telephone.”

Seems there is an easy solution to all this. Govern by the will of the people, not your own profit.

There was no riot on January 6.

1) They are issuing automatic weapons to the Capitol Police, extra ammunition, and weapons free orders.
2) They are mobilizing the Democrats’ ANTIFA and BLM auxiliaries, arming them, and preparing them to attack any truckers or identifiable Americans in the crowd so the Capitol Police and come and rescue ANTIFA and BLM.

Check you dance card, it may be fuller than you think.

I won’t be watching the SOTU. When Xiden spews forth his lies, somebody please tell me if Nancy tears up her copy in protest.

    “Here…! Hold my ice cream!”

I won’t be watching, either. I always watched SOTUs, no matter who was giving them, but I didn’t watch Biden’s last year, and I won’t be watching this year.

He’s a complete joke, national embarrassment, and absolute disgrace. I won’t watch . . . unless he burbles about black children playing with his leg hair or how he stormed the beaches of Normandy when he was president of Pittsburgh, right before he beat up Corn Dog Pop the lying, dog-faced pony soldier who attempted to stop him from that Dunkirk thing with vanilla ice cream, Fat!

“I won’t be watching the SOTU. When Xiden spews forth his lies.”

Biden has just about reached the point where he’s gonna spew forth nonsense and will have to be carried out in a strait jacket. I hope that time comes right in the middle of his State of the Union.

His speech of late has become more and more wooden. When the big reversal comes there’s gonna be splinters everywhere.

“I hope that time comes right in the middle of his State of the Union.”

My mind just flashed on a scenario of Biden suffering vaccination collapse onstage, like that comedienne. “Jesus loves me!” Plonk!

Except Biden probably got a saline injection rather than an actual clot shot, assuming the needle was real and not a movie prop.

I expect he’ll have very low viewership numbers.

We’ll know they were horrible if we never hear a word about it. If no one in the Marxist media ever mentions it.

When Xiden spews forth his lies . . .

But what else does Biden have but lies. The country is in shambles. The economy is rapidly collapsing. The United States is considered a joke & irrelevant on the world stage. The Russians/Chinese/Iranians are doing whatever they please.

Yes, it’s going to be quite an interesting SOTU address but I’ll give it a pass anyway.

So barriers in Washington work, but not at the southern border?

That ought to be in every single Republican campaign ad from now until Election Day.

Sadly, only a few are likely to do it. I get the distinct impression the current Congressional Republican leadership thinks they can coast to victory in November.

What? Congressional Republican leadership in each House of Congress is not decided by voters; the actual reps. or sens. pick the leaders.

I get being disillusioned and all that, but it would really help a lot if you knew what you were talking about. Yes, “Congressional Republican leadership thinks they can coast to victory in November” because leadership has nothing to do with voters beyond whom voters elect to represent them or their state. Leadership positions are not voted on by the people The exception is when a member of Congressional Republican leadership loses his or her election (think Eric Cantor).

Being clueless is not a good look.

Grump at me if you wish, but right now there is no coordinated message coming from the GOP Congressional leadership that will appeal to Republican voters (if they don’t want Trump as the party leader, let them tell us what they DO stand for).

What little we hear from the Congressional GOP leadership is not reassuring. Wasn’t that Mitch McConnell who recently called the J6 protests a “violent insurrection”? Which side is he fighting for? That is not counting the number of Biden* nominees that easily sail through in a 50-50 Senate. Nor the number of Republicans who voted for the “stimulus” bill.

There seems to be zero urgency in the Republican Congressional leadership, no sense at all that they can blow this UNLESS they get serious. Erecting a fence around the Capitol AGAIN should make it easy to dunk on the Democrats as Rep. Gooden did, yet I hear nothing.

Come on, Fuzzy: having the Congressional GOP leadership taking Gooden’s comment and running on it this November is just about as easy a layup as it gets! If they don’t want to use that, then pick something else that will appeal to disgruntled voters.

GOP leadership messaging: Republicans good, Democrats bad, Trump bad. That’s why it’s called the Stupid Party. Too many Republican voters really are that stupid. It’s not even the lesser of two evils anymore. Even that is too complicated a concept. The only thing that counts is Republicans winning. And the Uniparty keeps getting stronger and stronger. An endless cycle of stupid.

Actually, no, that was not Mitch McConnell, that was Ted freaking Cruz (and, as you can imagine, it broke my heart to have to break up with him over it).

House GOP leadership stripped Liz let’s find a country to bomb Cheney of HER leadership position, remember? That’s pretty much all leadership can do. And they did that, and that’s not nothing.

The GOP who voted for the Biden infrastructure were idiots, as were those who voted for the WuFlu stimulus boondoggle, both have contributed to inflation, and now the parents who got the Biden child tax credit are getting BILLS from the IRS because they got more money, earlier, than could be accounted for by their regular filings.

The GOP maroons who voted for both of these monstrosities need to be primaried and hopefully replaced by less stupid GOPs (or even Manchin-type Dems).

None of that changes anything I said, though. GOP leadership is just party leadership; they don’t lead the people. We have someone who does that. 😉

Actually, I get the impression that a) they do not want to win a Republican majority in any putative election that takes place in November, and b) in the process they want to suck up as much cash as they can from donors regardless of which side the donors are on. Kinda like the Conservatives in Canada. YMMV

The Gentle Grizzly | February 22, 2022 at 5:19 pm

Turn the tables. Get the Congress, the president, and the VP inside the fence, all cozy and safe.

Then, surround the fence. People, trucks, other vehicles, anything. And then party like it’s 2022

I don’t think that’s possible anymore. Pretty much all of those streets have been blockaded for about 20 years, unless something’s changed recently. Remember that poor woman who got lost in that maze a few years ago, and ended up being murdered by the capitol police?

Much as I enjoyed the Smithsonian and would like to return, I’d not step foot in Washington DC today.

It isn’t just the armed-camp atmosphere of late. I was there on business several times pre-Trump. The sheer ARROGANCE of the people there is disgusting.

The manner in which they drive, and this is especially true of the obvious quota-hires in their Mercedeseseses, Audis, BMWs, etc. “Look out, peasant! Get out of my path! I’m important!

The crazy prices for virtually everything – prices so high you need to be either a lobbyist or have a government “job” to afford it.

And, it’s dirty and dangerous. If I want dirty and dangerous, I can visit
Baltimore and spend far less money.

“INSURRRRECTION!!!!”

Demos-cracy is aborted at The Twilight Fringe (i.e. penumbras and emanations). Democracy dies in the District of Corruption.

Brandon, the ‘uniter’, thinks he needs fences topped with razor wire and thousands of soldiers to protect him and his party’s leadership when he gives a big speech to the nation.

He and his junta are telling rest of the world all they need to know about his legitimacy as the ‘leader’ of a nation that was formerly a beacon of freedom, liberty, and democracy in the world.

So, they’re scared..that’s the way it should be!

I think a boycott of DC would be more effective than a blockade, and harder to “prosecute.”

The Democrats hate dissent

in another time, a grandfather of mine once told me to always remember:

“when you threaten a man’s life or that of his family, you’d best be prepared to go all the way ’cause he will take you there whether you want to go or not. “

MoeHowardwasright | February 23, 2022 at 8:56 am

I need for the convoy to enter DC proper. Just fill all 5 lanes on the 495 both ways and drive 25 mph honking all the way. Guarantee you will bring DC to a standstill and not give the demonrats the satisfaction of trucks near the captiol or White House. Play the game, just not by their rules.

The politicians are afraid of the people, but they will learn nothing from their demonstration of that fact.

MoeHowardwaright, Your suggestion is spot on!
