I try to watch “The View” as little as possible beyond the clips shared of the program on Twitter. It’s one of the most poisonous talk shows on TV, perhaps even worse than Joy Reid’s show. These ladies try to present themselves as “informed queens” but in reality come off as nothing more than the TV equivalent of “woke” Twitter, with zero to offer in the way of rational, informed discourse. Instead, they opt for venomous “mean girl” rhetoric because they think it makes them look in tune with what’s happening in the world.
A couple of reprehensible segments they did earlier this week in the midst of the retirement of Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer and President Biden’s pledge to nominate a black woman to replace Breyer are perfect cases in point.
On Thursday, the same day Justice Breyer made it official, during a panel discussion, the rabidly liberal co-hosts began talking about how it was important for Biden to make sure to nominate another liberal considering the make-up of the court in their view is skewed 6-3 conservative. They also talked about how “representation” was supposedly equally important on our nation’s highest court and how it was imperative that Biden follow through on his campaign promise to nominate a black woman.
That’s when the bigotry started.
Co-host Sara Haines said to her colleagues that the fact that there have only been two black men on the Supreme Court was “a little shocking” to her. That prompted co-host Sunny Hostin to proclaim with a serious face that “one doesn’t really represent the black community,” clearly referring to Justice Clarence Thomas:
A little later, the attacks on Thomas escalated, and Justice Amy Coney Barrett was also vilified by the panel, especially by Joy Behar, who essentially declared both Thomas and Bennett traitors to their race and gender respectively because they oftentimes don’t decide hot button cases in the ways liberals expect a black man and a woman to:
BEHAR: You could make the case that somebody like Amy Coney Barrett was put in there because she’s a white woman.WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Yeah.BEHAR: Who they say, well, she’ll go against abortion rights and she’s a “woman.” So that was deliberate, I think. Clarence Thomas, a black guy, a black man, a justice, okay, I’ll give it to him. He’s a smart guy, but he is to the right of Attila the Hun, this guy. And they put him in there saying, oh, a black man will go against voting rights, which is what he does.
In addition to that, both Behar and Goldberg laughably proclaimed that Sen. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was “not following the law” when it came to the Supreme Court – without giving one example of what it was they were talking about.

At another point, Behar engaged in another classic Democrat tactic of declaring the Supreme Court “dictatorial” simply because the make-up of it wasn’t what she preferred it to be. Remember, in the past when the court made rulings that pleased liberals – like the one about Obamacare – Democrats gloated about it and called it the final word, the law of the land. But when they don’t vote the left’s way, they are “dictatorial” and then the discussions of term limits and/or adding Justices to the court become fashionable in Democrat circles. So predictable:
Not surprisingly, the panel got a lot of blowback in response to their overt displays of bigotry and what some would call their “whitesplaining” regarding how Clarence Thomas was supposed to think and decide in their minds. Naturally, Behar fumed the next day about it, declaring that she was an “informed” person who read the newspapers and then made “informed decisions” accordingly. After Hostin interjected by suggesting she herself was supremely qualified to have opinions about the SCOTUS because she is “a member of the Supreme Court Bar,” Behar demanded her critics stop with the “baloney attacks” because apparently the only people allowed to criticize others are the cast of characters on “The View”:
For anyone who watched these segments and believes the co-hosts didn’t say anything wrong, imagine for five seconds what the reactions would be like if this was a conservative panel that made similarly condescending and insulting comments about Justices Kagan or Sotomayor or the late Justice Marshall, suggesting they should rule a certain way based on their race or gender? There would be howls of outrage all over the place – even from other conservatives, and rightly so.
For decades the left has preached about the advantages of diversity and how women, people of color, and other minorities should have a seat at the table to express their opinions free from judgment of them based on their gender or color of their skin. And yet these same leftists will tell you that if a black man doesn’t believe in affirmative action or if a woman doesn’t believe in abortion they are insufficiently black, female, etc., and “not representative” of their community.
Simply put, on this issue – like so many others – the left does not practice what they preach. Because to them, it’s not really about minorities having the right to think independently; it’s about shoehorning minorities into little boxes and brainwashing them with a leftist groupthink mentality about society that forbids thinking outside the box.
This toxic, narrow-minded mentality is the main reason I walked away from the left decades ago and never looked back. Any Democrat who viewed these videos with a similar disgust maybe should consider doing the same because I’ve got news for you: What Behar and Hostin said is actually very representative of modern leftist “thinking,” and unfortunately that will never, ever change.
