Senate Dems Protect Putin’s Gas Pipeline Using ‘Jim Crow Relic’ Filibuster to Stop Sanctions

Two days after President Biden declared that people who opposed him on abolishing the filibuster and/or federalizing elections were racists, Senate Democrats blocked Sen. Ted Cruz’s sanctions bill against Nord Stream 2 by using the filibuster.

Democrat “leaders” including President Joe Biden, Sen. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and former President Barack Obama have been on a coordinated campaign for months now to get Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema to change their minds and stand with them on eliminating the filibuster so they can ram through radical bills like one that would federalize our elections and make it easier for voter/election fraud to happen.

One of the primary weapons in their arsenal has been to label the filibuster and the use of it “racist,” or as Obama put it in 2020, “a Jim Crow relic” that needs to be abolished – comments Joe Biden echoed in 2021.

Here are some recent examples of similar rhetoric from other Democrat politicians:

Earlier this week during a speech in Georgia, we saw perhaps the most aggressive push yet from Biden to get the two Democratic holdouts on board, shocking some political observers who apparently don’t know Biden’s history very well by suggesting that anyone who disagreed with him on changing the Senate rules on the filibuster and/or regarding election reform were no better than racist Democrats of the past including Bull Connor, George Wallace, and Jefferson Davis.

“I ask every elected official in America: How do you want to be remembered?” Biden rhetorically asked at the time. “Do you want to be on the side of Dr. King or George Wallace? Do you want to be on the side of John Lewis or Bull Connor? Do you want to be on the side of Abraham Lincoln or Jefferson Davis? This is the moment to decide. To defend our elections. To defend our democracy.”

Two days later, however, the same Democratic party that has flip-flopped on their previous defenses of the filibuster and who are now routinely painting it as a tool only racists would utilize turned around and used that very tool to block a bill proposed by Sen. Ted Cruz that would impose sanctions on Russia’s Nord Stream 2:

Senate Democrats on Thursday blocked legislation from Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) to slap sanctions on businesses tied to the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, a win for the Biden administration, which believes such sanctions could damage relations with Germany.

Senators voted 55-44 on Cruz’s legislation, falling short of the 60 votes needed for it to pass. Democratic Sens. Tammy Baldwin (Wis.), Catherine Cortez Masto (Nev.), Maggie Hassan (N.H.), Mark Kelly (Ariz.), Jacky Rosen (Nev.) and Raphael Warnock (Ga.) joined every Republican save Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) in voting for the bill.

Understandably, Cruz called ’em out:

On a related note, in 2020 alone, Senate Democrats abused the filibuster 327 times to block Republican/Trump agenda items. Republicans used it once.

This tweet sums things up for Democrats rather nicely on this issue, I think:

Indeed, you couldn’t make it up if you tried. You just couldn’t.

It’s only bad if used against them.

The Fourth Reich emerging from behind the communist curtain? Everything fits including Nazi Klaus Schwab founding and leading the Davos Forum. Just sayin’….

Democrats really do miss the old USSR.

Their “precious democracy” is indistinguishable from the Soviet Communist Party… you know… the one that Teddy Kennedy wanted a quid pro quo with to defeat Reagan. The Dems are backing the EU elites in this pipeline deal. Follow the money if you dare.

Kennedy did not offer any quid pro quo; he wanted the Soviets to help the Dems defeat Reagan simply because it was in their mutual interest. They weren’t interested.

The talking point down the line is a clockwork with Leftists, one starts the meme and everyone parrots it.

“Using Jim Crow Relic”

Or using a Jim Crow Bar to pry away the sanctions, as the Friendly Bear might put it.

Well…JimCrow is very on brand for the Democrats….

“…Bull Connor, Govs. Orval Faubus of Arkansas and George Wallace of Alabama, and … U.S. Sens. Robert Byrd of West Virginia, J. William Fulbright of Arkansas, Albert Gore Sr.…”

It’s a clear example that d/prog care more about power than principles. 44 d/prog supported the Biden position that in effect allows Russia even greater control over the energy supply for Western Europe.

Remember Russia collision? I do and I recall a breathless succession of media stories that the prior Admin was ‘doing the bidding’ of Putin. I recall an endless parade of d/prog officials jostling each other to get a microphone to tell the world that Putin was a huge threat and must be stopped. This is particularly amusing in light of the apparent imminent Russian invasion of Ukraine who’s defense was elevated into an impeachment.

Let’s stop calling them hypocrites…

Democrats want to destroy two party system and protect Russia.

It’s clear – there’s no difference here.

“Gun control” was a relic of Jim Crow. And explicitly so.

First, six Democrats voted ‘yes’ knowing that the other 44 had their backs. They cast a vote that protected them at home. That’s been one of the historical uses of the filibuster.

Second, eliminating the filibuster is “supposed” to be just for civil rights and voting rights laws. Otherwise, according to the Democrats, the filibuster is just fine. This translates of course into “give us what we want”. It’s transparent but that’s okay so long as they get what they want in the end.

Second, eliminating the filibuster is “supposed” to be just for civil rights and voting rights laws.

    Yeah, that doesn’t work.

The distinction between nominations and legislation is clear. It’s a bright line, so abolishing the filibuster for one didn’t automatically mean abolishing it for the other. But the distinction between supreme court nominations and all other nominations never made any sense, and it was always clear that it would not hold. From the moment the Dems abolished it for all nominations “except scotus” it was obvious that the first time anyone tried to filibuster a scotus nomination the “exception” would collapse.

Likewise any distinction between different types of legislation is untenable. Once the filibuster is abolished for one type of legislation it’s inevitable that the next time any legislation is filibustered that type will be added to the abolition, and so on until it disappears entirely.

That’s because spending is “special.” And black privilege is “special.” And vote fraud is “special.”
All issues that Democrats own or want to own.
Democrats will maintain the list of what’s “special.”
They will take issues off it and put other issues on it whenever it suits them.
You will hear about the changes right before the vote.

re: “eliminating the filibuster is “supposed” to be just for civil rights and voting rights laws”

That’s ironic, given the voting rights laws they want to pass would destroy civil rights.

Jim Crow: Democrat. Bull Connor: Democrat.

Lincoln: Republican. MLK Jr.: purportedly Republican.

And take note of how the Democrat party has kicked MLK to the curb with their racist “equity.”

Purportedly only as in “one person said so and a lot of right-wing web sites started repeating it, but nobody has ever offered any reason to suppose it’s true”. There’s plenty of evidence that he was neither a Republican nor a Democrat because both were to his right.

You have to understand that while the use of a filibuster to oppose anything desired by the totalitarian Left is both blasphemy and mortal sin, the use of a filibuster to support any totalitarian act by the Democrats and the Left sanctifies it and makes its purpose pure. At least according to the Left and the American media [very tight Venn diagram there].

From 1860 -199o every single civil rights filibuster , was filibustered by the Democrats. Those are the Jim Crow filibusters.
Likewise, election fraud became an institution in 1854…by Democrats and has infected the election process since. It is so bad we now see “Republicans” actually enabling election fraud in WI, GA and who know where else for payola. And it is big business.
