Fauci’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), a division of the National Institutes of Health, used $205,000 of taxpayer money in part to study hormone therapy for monkeys for HIV research.
The Washington Free Beacon reported:
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in December 2021 gave Scripps Research $205,562 for the study, which aims to determine why transgender women have high rates of HIV. As part of the study, researchers subject male monkeys to feminizing hormone therapy to study how it impacts the monkeys’ immune systems, according to the National Institutes of Health.—The NIAID began running HIV vaccine tests on monkeys a year after Fauci took charge. Each year, the department acquires 400 to 600 rhesus monkeys from a South Carolina island leased by Charles River Laboratories, which has a $27.5 million contract with the NIAID.
Why? WHY!?
How about we run tests on the people? Why not look at the hormones they’re taking, what surgery they had, what medications they take, etc? It’s not like you’re testing new medicines.
PETA neuroscientist Dr. Katherine Roe described the research as “yet another pointless, wasteful monkey torture experiment.”
Roe stated the study will not succeed “because monkeys cannot contract HIV.” Monkeys contract Simian Immunodeficiency Virus, which is a milder strain of HIV. It is not sufficient enough to advance HIV research.
Fauci took over NIAID in 1984. Studying monkeys and HIV began in 1985. All of that money could have gone towards reliable and sound HIV research.
Oh, wait a minute! That’s right! This is not the first time Fauci has screwed over HIV research. During the HIV/AIDS breakout in the 1980s, Fauci did not allow people to use “repurposed drugs that would have helped alleviate many of the effects of the diseases impacting patients.”
Leslie also pointed out a letter activist Larry Kramer wrote to Fauci in 1988, slamming him for wasting $374 million. Kramer recalled visiting Fauci’s “Animal House of Horrors in 1984.” He then called Fauci a murderer because Fauci used every excuse to explain why NIAID hadn’t tested a lot of drugs for HIV and AIDS.

NIAID denied a report it funded testing on beagle puppies. But the division confirmed it “has supported research on dogs in the past.”
