Nancy Pelosi has suddenly noticed that we’re having a little bit of a crime problem in the U.S. and she is just bewildered as to the possible cause.
It’s nice of the Speaker to finally notice reality, isn’t it?

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi blasted an “attitude of lawlessness” across the country Wednesday, decrying a recent surge in smash-and-grab crimes – particularly in her hometown of San Francisco – but refusing to admit it stems from police funding cuts and bail reform measures pushed by left-wing lawmakers.
“It’s absolutely outrageous,” Pelosi (D-Calif.) said when asked about the crime spike. “Obviously, it cannot continue. But the fact [is] that there is an attitude of lawlessness in our country that springs from I don’t know where … and we cannot have that lawlessness become the norm.”
“It must be stopped, and it’s not just San Francisco,” Pelosi emphasized. “It’s in our entire country.”
The brazen group robberies have made national headlines for weeks. Last month, for example, around 80 people raided a San Francisco-area Nordstrom department store and drove off in two dozen cars with up to $200,000 in goods, police said.

It looks like Pelosi is trying to play catch-up with San Francisco Mayor London Breed who seems to have reached her breaking point on crime in her city.

All of it has been captured on video, making for regular Fox News segments and rising consternation among Democrats who see crime as a potential weakness in next year’s midterm elections.
“We are not a city where anything goes,” a shaken Breed said. “Our compassion should not be mistaken for weakness or indifference,” she added, in reference to the California city’s famous culture of tolerance.

It’s amazing that it has taken this long for liberal leaders to finally notice this problem.
In Nancy Pelosi’s case, it’s laughable. I don’t believe for a second that she is just noticing this now. She just feels she now has some political cover to mention it.

It’s not an attitude of lawlessness, but actual lawlessness that is the problem.
The solution is not a matter of changing people’s attitudes concerning lawlessness, but of stopping and punishing criminals who commit crimes.
From the top down.
The war on cops has meant the end of pro-active policing and the thugs know it.
The very recent defund the police initiative, the support for “mostly peaceful protests” and the Soros-sponsored DAs have all exacerbated the problem, but it goes much deeper, it’s cultural. There is a a certain ah, um, “class” of kids being raised without values, parents are AWOL, locked up, drugged out or whatever. Chicago’s weekend murder count is a symptom too. Cops can’t and never have been everywhere at once. Most retail establishments are wide open for easy theft, but historically losses were small. Car windows have always been relatively easy to break, but car theft was relatively rare, etc. Because almost everyone grew being taught that it’s not right to steal. Things have changed. And this underclass continues to grow and becomes a multi-generational way of life because it is subsidized by government handouts. We should not even call these programs “well-intentioned” anymore. They may have started this way but now they are political special interest groups unto themselves, the poverty-industrial complex. The programs don’t work, everyone knows they don’t work, but no one will say it and the only politically correct solution is to double down with more money for the same failure.
The attitude of lawlessness was incubated in the culture of lawlessness the d/prog created. First in academia then in deep blue strongholds then solid blue areas then purple areas. The issue is that relative llatecomers to the party weren’t around for the initial, incremental temperature changes, they realize nearly immediately that the water is too hot. Plot on a map the ten cities with the highest crime rates then overlay political party who controls the city. Then breakdown the cities by zip code and we find the lion’s share of crime is committed in a few zip codes in a few cities. That alone tells us the policies put in place are the drivers of lawlessness.
A well funded PD able to proactively patrol, make arrests supported by a DA who will prosecute and a judiciary who will apply appropriate sentences to a prison system with enough room to handle the intake will both remove criminals and deter others. Remove any single one of those codependent steps and it falters. This takes politicians willing to tell the harsh truth, mobilize support and follow through to enact and maintain these policies. Unfortunately it’s much easier to be slack and tell people what they want to believe, in fact it’s become fashionable to make excuses and tell lies; CRT/equity/social and racial justice reform/elimination of cash bail requirements.

It comes from the liberal democrats encouraging such behavior with defund the police activities. It comes with liberal prosecutors refusing to do their jobs and prosecute criminals and keep them off the streets. It comes from liberals tolerating drug addicts shooting up on the street. It comes from looking the other way as the homeless defecate on the public streets and sidewalks. It comes from the teachings of critical race theory and lunatic equity racial policies. But yet Nancy and the democrat party has no effing clue as to where it all comes from.
Perhaps it’s time for some Republicans to be having press conferences and calling out Nancy and the rest for their obvious lunatic gaslighting attempts. Especially right now as the midterm elections are approaching. But I doubt they will as they just don’t have the spine to do so nor do they want to upset anyone from across the aisle. It may not just be San Francisco, but sure is just Leftist cities. When people try to rob a store here, they get shot or the crap beat out of them. Then the police get there and haul you off and you get charged.
We also had very sane BLM protests that ended after dark. Antifa never raised their head to riot (see bit above about being shot, beat up and cops showing up).
