The Farmington Public School District in Michigan is under fire for a month-long ‘equity challenge’ that includes a suggestion for staff to join a Black Lives Matter protest, warns of microaggressions, and talks about white privilege.
But remember, Critical Race Theory is definitely not being taught in American schools.

Public school district in Michigan offers a ’21-day equity challenge’ that includes ‘white privilege checklists’ and culminates with a call to ‘join a BLM or affiliated protest’ – and a list of ‘microaggressions to avoid,’ including calling America ‘the land of opportunity’A public school district in Michigan has encouraged its staff to participate in a 21-day ‘Equity Challenge’, exploring themes such as identity and intersectionality, race and class privilege, implicit bias and microaggressions.Participants were told that telling a student America is the ‘land of opportunity’ is a ‘microaggression’ that minimizes their concerns about having a successful future, according to Farmington Public Schools documentation on its website.They were also warned that asking people to say words in their native language was another microaggression, singling them out to be ‘exotic.’Those on the course were asked to tick boxes about their identity and white privilege. They were also encouraged to attend Black Lives Matter marches, support black businesses and assess racism in their own workplaces.The voluntary course began on November 1, with 21 days of different topics – based on the theory that it takes 21 days to form a habit.They were provided worksheets and reading materials, and were encouraged to participate in discussion groups.
An extensive ‘action sheet’ includes suggestions about the type of political candidates to campaign and vote for.

While the movement to address racism and affirming that black lives matter has widespread support, BLM as an organization remains highly controversial from involvement in past violent protests to anti-police rhetoric to calling for people not to buy products from white-owned businesses. Reasonable people can disagree on those objections but the point is BLM is an organization that comes with pronounced political viewpoints. The direct solicitation for parents and students to join BLM runs counter to the political neutrality expected from a public school system.On the microaggression controversy, we have previously discussed such lists on the college level that specify issues ranging from seating choices to eye contact. Terms are flagged from “melting pot” to phrases like “pulling oneself up by your own bootstraps.” Such terms like “postracial” and “personal responsibility” have been added to lists. Even the word “triggering” has been declared “triggering.”The district warned that saying that America is “the land of opportunity” is another microaggression to be avoided. Why? This country has a record number of people crossing our borders because of the opportunities that it affords to them.
The left doesn’t even thing twice about this sort of thing. The political double standard is so ingrained in the system, that progressives just do whatever they want without any fear of push back.
