White House Plan for ‘Gender Equity’ Includes Elimination of Cash Bail

The Biden administration recently announced the creation of a “National Strategy on Gender Equity and Equality.” Most Americans would probably prefer that they try to tackle problems like the border crisis or the supply chain crisis, but they have their own priorities.

For some reason, this new strategy also includes the elimination of cash bail.

Joseph Simonson reports at the Washington Free Beacon:

White House ‘Gender Equity’ Plan Calls for Elimination of Cash BailAs the country faces an unprecedented murder spike, President Joe Biden is claiming that eliminating cash bail for violent criminals is critical to promoting “gender equity and equality.”A 42-page report from the White House Gender Policy Council entitled the “National Strategy on Gender Equity and Equality” outlines a “whole of government” approach to ending so-called inequality between men, women, and transgender people. Among the critical steps necessary to remedy disparities between these groups, the White House alleges, is working to overturn cash bail, a legal mechanism that proponents say helps keep violent criminals off the street.”We will work to end cash bail and reform our pretrial system, recognizing the harm these processes cause, particularly for Black women and families,” the report says. The Biden administration’s decision to push for a radical criminal justice reform measure—even as broad swaths of the public say they are concerned about rising violence—reflects the political tensions of an increasingly unpopular president who feels compelled to placate his party’s radical base.

The description of the plan at the White House website reads like it was written by a UC-Berkeley undergrad:

The strategy identifies ten interconnected priorities: 1) economic security; 2) gender-based violence; 3) health; 4) education; 5) justice and immigration; 6) human rights and equality under the law; 7) security and humanitarian relief; 8) climate change; 9) science and technology; and 10) democracy, participation, and leadership. These priorities are inherently linked and must be tackled in concert. The strategy also adopts an intersectional approach that considers the barriers and challenges faced by those who experience intersecting and compounding forms of discrimination and bias related to gender, race, and other factors, including sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, disability, age, and socioeconomic status.

Conn Carroll writes at the Washington Examiner:

Biden released a ‘National Gender Strategy,’ and it is every bit as ridiculous as it soundsIf the Babylon Bee had been asked to write a “National Gender Strategy” to be posted on the White House’s website, it wouldn’t look any different than the document the Biden administration actually released last Friday. The “fact sheet” contains every buzzword and policy that you would expect to hear from a progressive activist with a degree in gender studies. The four-page document begins by identifying “gender equity” as a “moral and strategic imperative.” Thanks to COVID-19, “we are at an inflection point,” the statement reads, as the pandemic has “magnified the challenges” that women and girls face — “especially women and girls of color.”

The Biden administration is in over its head. The country is now facing serious problems at home and abroad. With the announcement of this new strategy, it looks like they are just trying to give the liberal media something else to talk about.
