Biden Wants to Pay $450,000 to Illegal Immigrants Separated From Their Families at the Border During Trump Administration

“The U.S. Departments of Justice, Homeland Security, and Health and Human Services are considering payments that could amount to close to $1 million a family”

The Biden administration is seriously considering paying $450,000 each to illegal immigrants who were separated from their families under Trump in 2018.

It’s difficult to believe they would even think of doing this as so many Americans are still suffering the after-effects of the COVID shutdowns. American citizens lost their businesses, savings and homes.

Not to mention that there are still homeless veterans and so many others deserving of help.

The Wall Street Journal reported:

U.S. in Talks to Pay Hundreds of Millions to Families Separated at Border

The Biden administration is in talks to offer immigrant families that were separated during the Trump administration around $450,000 a person in compensation, according to people familiar with the matter, as several agencies work to resolve lawsuits filed on behalf of parents and children who say the government subjected them to lasting psychological trauma.

The U.S. Departments of Justice, Homeland Security, and Health and Human Services are considering payments that could amount to close to $1 million a family, though the final numbers could shift, the people familiar with the matter said. Most of the families that crossed the border illegally from Mexico to seek asylum in the U.S. included one parent and one child, the people said. Many families would likely get smaller payouts, depending on their circumstances, the people said.

The American Civil Liberties Union, which represents families in one of the lawsuits, has identified about 5,500 children separated at the border over the course of the Trump administration, citing figures provided to it by the government. The number of families eligible under the potential settlement is expected to be smaller, the people said, as government officials aren’t sure how many will come forward. Around 940 claims have so far been filed by the families, the people said.

The total potential payout could be $1 billion or more.

Did you notice that this only focuses on families separated under Trump?

Jazz Shaw of Hot Air did:

To say that this news has some people up in arms would be an understatement. The first thing to take note of here is that the huge raft of lawsuits mysteriously only involves families that were separated during the Trump administration. Doesn’t that immediately cast the entire process in a bit of a partisan light?

Children are still being separated from parents (or in too many cases, coyotes and human traffickers posing as parents) on the southern border every day. And those separations were regularly taking place during the Obama/Biden administration, where the entire “kids in cages” story actually began. But oddly enough, the administration isn’t going to accept the blame for any of those, only admitting to alleged sins committed by the 45th President.

This is outrageous.

Numerous other outlets are confirming the Biden administration’s intentions, including the NY Times.

This is not only an insane idea, it’s an insult to every American.

I’m not paying for this shit anymore – are you ?

They cannot send 100 million Americans to jail.

Think about it. 40% of people PAY NO TAX

So if most of the other 60% stop paying taxes – this Bullshit ENDS.

      HOW TO DO IT ?

healthguyfsu in reply to Ben Kent. | October 31, 2021 at 3:11 pm

Nice idea but they have the power to garnish your wages with significant penalties. They can also do asset seizure.

Ben Kent in reply to healthguyfsu. | November 1, 2021 at 5:39 pm

Only works when tens of millions of taxpayers reach the point where they have had enough. It only works if nearly every taxpayer joins together.

The problem is – we are all like the proverbial FROM in water that is getting hotter and by the time we realize it has gotten hot enough to kill us – it boils and we are all dead.

Currently, We are on a slippery-slope to hell.

healthguyfsu – Do you have any alternatives to suggest that can stop this madness ?

Consider this an insight of where they will go with “Reparations”.

Every person who claims that one of their ancestors at some time or place was once a slave, or in the foggy mists of time may have been one, should receive upwards of 10 million dollars.

      JohnSmith100 in reply to UserP. | October 30, 2021 at 7:22 pm

I bet that most people have ancestors who were enslaved at some point in time. I also bet that they were smarter that the ones imported here.

What about the families here that have been cursed by open borders?

Just when you think that the utterly vile, lawless, arrogant, mendacious and subversive Dhimmi-crat apparatchiks and totalitarians can’t plumb deeper depths of brazen dishonesty, fiscal profligacy and rank stupidity, they manage to surprise you.

I think every Dhimmi-crat apparatchik in and out of office should be repeatedly queried: “How do American citizens obtain from Dhimmi-crats the same reverence, respect, deference, sympathy and concern that Dhimmi-crats exclusively extend to illegal aliens?

ArmyStrong in reply to guyjones. | October 30, 2021 at 2:12 pm

Just understand that we are not to call them illegal immigrants any more. Maybe they should be called unregistered Democrats.

guyjones in reply to ArmyStrong. | October 30, 2021 at 2:20 pm

Don’t forget about my personal favorite euphemism contrived by Dhimmi-crats to refer to illegal aliens — “undocumented Americans.” You know — alleged citizens in all respects, except for those pesky and quaint notions of legal formalities.

Republicans are going to have to have enough of a backbone to actually evict all of these grifting illegal invaders.

Lucifer Morningstar in reply to Paul. | October 30, 2021 at 1:38 pm

And how are Republicans going to to that exactly. You can be assured that any “paperwork” on these illegals will either be entirely falsified in which case it will be useless in tracking the illegals down or will be conveniently lost in the chaos on the southern border and no democrat immigration officials will know exactly where they were all shipped and dumped.

The people who dreamed up this idea are just asking for an actual civil war. What happened on Jan. 6 would be minimal compared to what could happen if this ever happened.
People who are unjustly convicted of crimes and spend time away from their family in prison don’t get those types of settlements.
Plenty of landowners in border areas deserve compensation under these scenarios.
The people involved in any of these suits would never see much of the money, the ACLU will keep most of it.

Yeah, the folks both individuals who’s property is impacted and the communities impacted; crime, schools, healthcare, social services should have a path to the courts.

Sovereign immunity is a problem but maybe not. Here’s a theory; where the feds have a statutory responsibility and fail to act creating injury to a person or community does that failure to act constitute an equivalent abdication of immunity? Especially in the realm of immigration where the feds have gone to CT to invoke their dominion over the issue to preclude State action.

A reliance upon the feds argument that ‘it’s our job, not yours, you can’t be involved BUT where we fail to exercise that responsibility and duty then no entity can go to CT to make us follow the law that Congress has passed’ seems a stretch. Discretion on individual cases is fine, attempting to invoke discretion on entire categories of cases or at present all cases doesn’t seem tenable.

Let individuals and communities impacted access simple nuisance doctrine to make the feds remediate the results of the failure.

More proof that Democrats are off the wall. Having this stupidity released to the public a week before election day is mind boggling.

Every single Republican running for office this year should make the $450K part of his closing argument – “You voted for Dems last November and this is what they deliver to illegals, along with taking away any raise you got with huge inflation.”

“The U.S. is in talks to offer immigrant families separated at the border in 2018 about $450,000”

Who are we talking to? Whose idiot idea is this? You just can’t make this stuff up !

This is a great idea. In fact, my family and I are going to go to Mexico, renounce our US citizenship, then cross the border and collect our half mill.

Ben Kent in reply to windbag. | October 30, 2021 at 10:10 pm

Renounce you USA citizenship – because it isn’t worth shit anymore. The gov’t hates citizens.

The come across the border illegally and get free healthcare and $450 k.

Biden Wants to Pay $450,000 to Illegal Immigrants Separated From Their Families at the Border During Trump Administration

No, that’s not entirely true. Biden’s handlers want to pay illegal aliens separated from their families at the border during the Trump administration. Sadly, Joe himself no longer has the mental capacity to know what he want or not. He simply spews out what he is told to say with very little, if any comprehension.

I seem to recall that the family separations were the result of a court order. Am I mistaken? I tried to do a search but the results were less than clear.

But the Democrats Propaganda Ministry has all the blame on those poor family breakups of President Trump so that wrong must be righted.
Imagine that winning lottery ticket for a criminal offence.

crossing the border illegally is a misdemeanor, many of those still locked up for Jan. 6 crimes are misdemeanors, I doubt those who are being locked up without bail are going to get $450k

The Americans come second or political congruence (“=”) policy. Obama kept children in cages, and Biden wants to avoid determining the relation of adult and child. Emigration reform to mitigate the progress of immigration reform and collateral damage at both ends of the bridge and throughout.

LibraryGryffon | October 30, 2021 at 3:22 pm

My husband suggests “how about $450K for each of us suffering from having to listen to this nonsense?” I’d add, how ’bout $45k for American citizens separated from their families because of the covid idiocy? I haven’t been able to see my uncle and his wife in almost two years. They live less than 60 miles from me.

henrybowman in reply to LibraryGryffon. | October 30, 2021 at 3:53 pm

Meh. This is all trail-balloon, run-up-the-flagpole theater. Eventually the figure will be lowered to $50,000, and the chattering classes will raise their voices in hosannas about how “reasonable” this “compromise” is.

Every American should get $ 1 Million for the pain and suffering of dealing with crazy-ass proposals like this.

Really, I’m losing sleep at night. Having nightmares. Cold sweats. Give me $450 k.

“The U.S. is in talks to offer immigrant families separated at the border in 2018 about $450,000”

The U.S is in talks. In talks with whom? Who in the U.S. is doing the talking? Why is it necessary to have talks? What the hell are they talking about? Who writes this sh!t?

If undocumented means you don’t have any documents how you gonna document it? Oh you mean anybody who asks for money will get it. Well then, why not just say Biden plans to give money to all illegals who ask for it.

Is complete insanity no longer a disqualifying condition for the presidency?

Ben Kent in reply to henrybowman. | October 30, 2021 at 10:14 pm

Look at the primaries. Half the people were insane to start with.

The primary system ensures that the winner is the craziest. The most extreme ideologues control the primaries – so what do you expect.

    The parties are te problem.

2smartforlibs | October 30, 2021 at 4:24 pm

Since they came here illegally and BROKE our laws why do we need to worry about this jackbooted thug vaccine? This means we have no laws so what laws would be broken?

When laws are selectively enforced – then law enforcement no longer has LEGITIMACY.

It seems very clear so any reasonable person that laws are, in fact, selectively enforced – therefore, there are no laws.

Why do I pay income tax? I have money withheld every month, from a modest fixed income from my nest egg. This whole story has me pissed on a fundamental level. Bizarro world.

Ben Kent in reply to amwick. | October 30, 2021 at 10:20 pm

    HOW TO DO IT ?

He’s certainly free to do so. Out of his own bank accounts.

Although if they couldn’t stuff amnesty-for-illegals into the “reconciliation” bill I doubt they’d get this through congress either.

Unless he can do it with an executive order, of course. And assuming anyone can locate where these “deserving” illegals went.
