“Your Truth Cannot Be Suppressed”: Kamala Harris Supports Student Who Accused Israel Of “Genocide”

The Virginia student was upset about the U.S. funding Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system.

Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday nodded when a college student accused Israel of “ethnic genocide.”

The exchange took place while Harris took questions from students at George Mason University, Virginia. A female student who identified herself as being of Yemini and Iranian descent objected to the U.S. support for Israel.

A video caught Harris nodding in agreement while the student talked at length. “Your voice, your perspective, your experience, your truth cannot be suppressed, and it must be heard,” Harris said in approval.

The Jerusalem Post reported the troubling exchange:

During a discussion with students about National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, US Vice President Kamala Harris did not challenge a comment by a student at George Mason University in Virginia who accused Israel of “ethnic genocide” and defended her right to say it.

The student, who identified herself as part-Yemeni, part-Iranian and “not an American,” also expressed outrage at US funding of the Iron Dome.

“You brought up how the power of the people and demonstrations and organizing is very valuable in America,” she said. “But I see that over the summer there have been protests and demonstrations in astronomical numbers standing with Palestine. But then just a few days ago, there were funds allocated to continue backing Israel, which hurts my heart because it’s ethnic genocide and displacement of people, the same that happened in America, and I’m sure you’re aware of this.” (…)

“The people have spoken very often of what they do need, and I feel like there’s a lack of listening, and I just feel like I need to bring this up because it affects my life and people I really care about’s [sic] life,” she said. In response, Harris said she was “glad” the student spoke up.

“Your voice, your perspective, your experience, your truth cannot be suppressed, and it must be heard,” she said. (…)

Regarding the student’s reference to Middle East policy, Harris said: “We still have healthy debates in our country about what is the right path, and nobody’s voice should be suppressed on that.”

The student was upset over the recent approval of funding for Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system by the U.S. House of Representatives. The defensive system shields the Israeli civilian population from rockets fired by Hamas, Hezbollah, and other Palestinian terrorist groups.

The Congressional approval angered Democratic Party’s left-wing Squad, particularly Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rashida Tlaib. “Yes, I wept,” AOC admitted following the vote.

The student, who brought up her Iranian and Yemini descent, failed to mention the Iran-backed Houthis militia’s massacres happening in Yemen. The pro-Iranian Yemini terror group, also known as Ansar Allah, openly calls for a genocide against Jews. The jihadi group’s official slogan says it all: “Allah is Greater, Death to America, Death to Israel, Curse on the Jews, Victory to Islam.”

While accusing Israel of imaginary genocide, the student overlooked that Israel is the only country in the region threatened with annihilation. The Iranian regime, which is racing to develop nuclear weapons, has repeatedly called for “wiping” the Jewish State off the face of the earth.

Author Douglas Murray on Harris’s behavior: “I think it’s a demonstration that the Democrats are in trouble.”

There is no such thing as “your truth.” There is only “the truth”, the objective truth which exists seraratey from you, There is truth and there is your opinion or your interpretation of it.

There can only be one truth in any given situation or it is not the truth. There are not many “truths”.

“No one has the right to destroy another person’s belief by demanding empirical evidence.”
    — Ann Landers, nationally syndicated advice columnist and Director at Handgun Control, Inc.

Yes, she said that. This is what you’re up against, folks.

Yes, we exist in various belief systems. We don’t really know what is true and couldn’t operate if we only acted when we “knew the truth”. Generally, what we “know” is what we choose to believe based on the best information we can get. We never really “know” anything. That is why NOTHING is ever truly settled be it science, law or whatever.

Ben Kent in reply to Pasadena Phil. | October 1, 2021 at 9:43 am

Phil – I assume that is sarcasm.

There clearly are universal truths. 1 + 1 = 2 in any sane mind.
It takes outside influence to teach someone to deny reality. Reality is the universal perception of if information we see, hear, touch etc. It is the processing of that information where a person’s beliefs skew their perception.

No. I am appalled at all of the deconstructivism going on this thread. Everything about life is about faith. We find “truth” in the bible not because it is factual but because the stories resonate with the human spirit. 1+1=2 is not a “truth” it is a mathematical fact.

We have gotten so used to using words without properly defining them that we don’t speak the same language anymore. We tend to say the same things to convey different points. When discussing philosophy, which is the highest form of all discussions of human existence, it is important to be clear what we are saying. Truth, reality, and facts are not interchangeable. And none of them lead us to “knowing” or “truth”.

But most appalling in this thread is giving everyone the equal right to express their opinions without any fear of consequences. The fastest way to understand why it is important to have an all-encompassing philosophy is to grasp the “truth” that everyone, everywhere and throughout all time in history has been free.

The consequences of using our freedoms is only thing that differentiates us. Liberty is not the natural state of existence for humanity. It is the result of philosophizing about the nature of humanity and codifying LAWS that govern how we interact with each other that has given rise to “civilization”. It took hundreds of thousands of years of human experience to arrive at universal rules such as the Ten Commandments. They address the most important issues in terms of good vs evil but another way to look at it is to in terms as efficiency. It is efficient to love/fear God. It is efficient to honor your parents, to not kill each other. You may have a right to a different opinion but that option on these issues always leads to chaos on human misery.

You are always free to say whatever you want. But civilized societies don’t limit you to that freedom alone by killing you. But they impose consequences for those who choose “inefficient” behavior and insist on imposing their beliefs on society. Millions have died throughout history fighting for LIBERTY there are people on this thread who seem to think life is just a game of multiple choice without consequences for bad choices. Knock it off. That is why we end up fighting wars instead of deliberating among those who “get it” vs the rabble of idiots and blindly obeying idiots without question. We give them rights for them to abuse and WE accept the consequences of their behavior.

She’s an idiot and would have agreed with the NOT American if she had said “Thank you for supporting Israel”

You and Biden stole the 2020 election, and need to be prosecuted for treason.

“Your voice, your perspective, your experience, your truth cannot be suppressed, and it must be heard,” Harris said in approval.

Their “truth” is a falsehood to sane, rational people.

There goes the Jewish vote…

/yeah right

“Your truth” is still one of the dumbest things ever. Truth is truth, it’s not different for some

Speaking truth through projection.

Generally speaking, genocide does not necessarily mean the immediate destruction of a nation, except when accomplished by mass killings of all members of a nation. It is intended rather to signify a coordinated plan of different actions aimed at the destruction of essential foundations of the life of national groups, with the aim of annihilating the groups themselves. #HateLovesAbortion

To me that’s Leftist Group Think

The student, who identified herself as part-Yemeni, part-Iranian and “not an American,” who hates Jews to the depths her soul, makes a false accusation Jews and the vice-president of the United States defers to her lies and calls them truths.

Have you ever noticed how often she nods her head? This is muscular memory fellatio from her years of servicing older men. The ready laugh is from pretending to find the same men’s lame attempts at humor amusing.

She’s an aging, off-putting, Willie Horton … well, you know.

My favorite thing right now is the press trying to build her up. EVERYONE hates her and she sucked so bad in the 2020 DEMOCRAT primaries that she quit before the first primary vote. Kamala is toxic; the Democrat base rejected her in huge numbers. And they think her polling better than an embarrassing dotard directly responsible for the death of 13 service members and presiding over horrific inflation that is destroying lives is to the good?

PLEASE drag cackling Kamala out of her basement and make her the face of the Democrat Party. In the meantime, I oppose Biden’s Marxist policies, not because he is a white male but because his policies lead to wide=spread poverty, human degradation, and national humiliation. Pretty much the same reason I opposed the exact same polices under Obama. Not because he was black but because his policies sucked all the way to suckland.

Obama hated America. So does Biden. People who hate America deserve our disdain.

But what about people who support people who hate America? That is my problem, as that includes some family members and close friends.

Stuytown in reply to Fuzzy Slippers. | October 1, 2021 at 2:59 am

The Democratic base rejected all of the leftist, progressive Democratic candidates and elected the “moderate,” Joe Biden. We can all see how that turned out.

Fuzzy, a small edit: “Obama hated America. So does Biden. ”

I think that Obama was driven first by hatred of the US and its citizens. Second by easy money which came his way. Biden is no patriot, but I think he is a typical corrupt politician. “The Big Guy”. Cash is king to Biden.
Obama was driven by America hatred first, money second. Biden is driven by money and power–hatred or not of the US is far down the list.

Is that also why she wiggles her butt?

This is a good summation of the moral stupidity and bankruptcy of the contemporary Dhimmi-crat Party, as well as depressing reminder of how undeniably successful Dhimmi-crats and Muslim supremacists/terrorists have been in indoctrinating students into vilifying Israel and blindly promoting Muslim supremacists’ contrived and fallacious propaganda narratives of alleged victimhood. Our harlot Vice-President refuses to contradict a George Mason University’s student’s utterly slanderous, ignorant and despicable assertion that Israeli Jews are committing “ethnic genocide.” That’s where the contemporary Dhimmi-crat Party is currently at — flatly refusing to contradict claims that Jews are committing alleged genocide.

These are the slanders that help incite violence against American and Israeli Jews, as we witnessed during the pogrom — tardily and tepidly condemned by useless zealot Attorney General Garland and dotard Xi-den — committed by bands of roving, Muslim thugs in the streets of New York City and Los Angeles, months ago, during which American Jews were viciously attacked.

Jews have been living in the Middle East and what is now modern-day Israel, for millennia before Islam’s founding, but, Dhimmi-crats have been propagating the narrative that Israeli Jews are alleged colonial “occupiers” who have somehow stolen Arab Muslims’ land and “displaced” them. This are evil slanders and lies, causing real-world consequences — make no mistake.

The Dhimmi-crats’ and their Muslim supremacist allies’ transparent goals are three-fold — 1) Vilify Israel, Israeli Jews and non-Israeli, non-Jewish supporters of Israel; 2) Rationalize, excuse and justify violence against Israeli Jews and supporters of Israel; 3) Erase Jews’ (and, Christians’) historical ties to the Middle East, by peddling the despicable, contrived lie and brazenly false historical revisionism that posits that Muslims are allegedly the “native” people of the Middle East, who existed there before anyone else.

“This is a good summation of the moral stupidity and bankruptcy of the contemporary Dhimmi-crat Party,”

She is the vice president, so I would assert she is good summation of the moral stupidity and bankruptcy of the contemporary American elite.

What a vile, disgusting, pandering whore.

Or a great opportunity to hold her to her own standards? What is YOUR truth? Do you have a right to state it? Kamala says,”yes.” That works for me. #FJB

What ‘truth’? This woman’s moral center is anywhere she gets paid to put suck it in. (As it were.)

As nausating and compassless Harris is, she still does not come close to the treasonous, lying, thieving pig that is Hillary Clinton.

If Kamala Harris had dinner at your home, you could at least be sure she wouldn’t steal the silverware. Hillary Clinton would. She’d probably too lazy to flush the toilet, either.

Lesson: don’t invite Hillary Clinton to your home for dinner, unless you’re planning on poisoning her.

If the #FJB trend continues, and Harris gets into the White House, I imagine a trend of t=shirts saying #FKH will become trendy. (They will likely sell as a 2-pack: one that says ‘#FKH’ and the other that says ‘#I did’.

      I don’t think I understand your comment.

Truth is objective. People can have their own opinions and beliefs, but not their own truth.

Yes, people also have the right to state their opinions, but they should get mocked if they assert it as “their truth.”

And VPOTUS should know all this, and not pander to morons who believe this insanity.

She didn’t say the student’s claims were “the truth”. She said they were “your truth”. That is a term that simply means “something you believe in very strongly”, without regard to whether it’s actually true.

Several commenters above have objected that there is no such thing as “your truth”; truth is objective, and it doesn’t care what you believe. But that is a fundamental difference between the cultural/political left and the rest of us.

It is a basic doctrine of the left that there is no such thing as objective reality. Everything is seen from a particular perspective, and if seen from a different one it would be different. In every field, leftists attack the concept of reality. Hence they tell us that history is just “his story”, that objectivity is merely the white male way of looking at things and is thus “patriarchal”, that a person’s “gender” depends on their perspective rather than anything real, that science must follow a “consensus”, etc.

Hence their century-long fascination with constantly changing the language we use; for which see George Orwell. It almost doesn’t matter to them what changes they make, so long as they are changes, because their real purpose is simply to make language confusing, in order to undermine the ability to communicate eternal truths.

In support of their position they point to such things as quantum physics, fuzzy logic, non-euclidean geometry, the constant evolution of language, as well as to biological phenomena such as chimeras, intersex conditions, and other weird things that don’t fit into a neat logical organization of reality. And those things are real, but the conclusion they want us to draw from them is not.

On the macroscopic level quantum physics has a negligible effect and can almost always be safely ignored. Much of what is taught as history is bunk, but that doesn’t mean there is no objective history, just that a lot of it is unknown, or known only by a few. In most practical cases, fuzzy logic is not applicable. Birth defects are just that; those who have them are exceptions to the general rule, because they’re broken in some way. Etc.

So Harris, who has been steeped in this ilogic, was simply replying from her perspective, that the student’s “truth”, i.e. her strong beliefs, must be heard and given the same respect and standing as what we would call actual reality, which to her is simply our strong beliefs.

henrybowman in reply to Milhouse. | September 30, 2021 at 10:32 pm

This covers a lot of ground.
If your neighbor’s dog tells you to kill people, that’s your truth and has to be respected.
If space aliens told you to swallow downers and booze so they could carry you away in their UFO, that’s your truth.
If the Bible says you and your followers will be burned alive by the US government, that’s your truth… in fact, that one worked out.
If I get a night-time revelation that I can save constitutional America by assassinating the vice president… well, that’s my truth, and it has to be respected, cannot be suppressed, and must be heard.
And I won’t even annoy Jodie Foster by making it all about her.

“It is a basic doctrine of the left that there is no such thing as objective reality. Everything is seen from a particular perspective, and if seen from a different one it would be different.”

No, they deny object reality in opposition to them, not all reality – just yours if you are in opposition, and you have no right to your reality, and they may strip it away, as they see fit, and force your to accept the absurd and the objectively untrue, that they know full well to be untrue, to force your submission and provide a testament to your loyalty to them.

They will not respect or even tolerate your reality, your point of view if it veers away from theirs.

Lastly, you say “On the macroscopic level quantum physics has a negligible effect and can almost always be safely ignored.” On a macroscopic level, quantum physics rules the known universe. Ignore it at your own peril.

No, they really don’t believe in objective reality. That is the point of 1984. If you haven’t read it, do. Or it may be time to reread it.

lichau in reply to Milhouse. | October 1, 2021 at 12:19 pm

Previously, I recommended re-reading 1984 every ten years. Now, I am on a one year schedule. I am a fan of Old Time Radio, there are a couple of dramatizations that count for a half reading.

This concept throughout this thread about “your truths” and “all truth must be respected” is largely hogwash. That is how civilizations break down into anarchy. We form nations and community relationships on consensus, not on “everyone is right in their own way”. That is why we have religions, science and other institutions that make it possible to even have peaceful nations.

There are “truths” (we need to stop using that word as well as “knowing”) that are so inefficient and destructive that they must be marginalized and pushed out of public discourse.

Everyone has a right to think what they want and have a voice. But the right to be respected? Where does that come from? No one has a right to be heard. At least, heard more than once. Without a consensus about rules regarding how we have productive discussions and debates, we are forced to shout at each other to silence the stupidity and ensuing chaos.

Milhouse in reply to Pasadena Phil. | October 1, 2021 at 8:37 am

That is how civilizations break down into anarchy.

Yes, that is the point. That is why the left is so committed to this concept.

lichau in reply to Milhouse. | October 1, 2021 at 12:30 pm

Milhouse, I have a slightly different take. I don’t think the Left really wants anarchy, they just want to be in charge. I do not challenge that their methods will more likely lead to anarchy, I just don’t think that is their explicit objective.

My take is more history/human nature. Virtually all post hunter-gatherer societies have been totalitarian in nature. A tiny, tiny minority holds all the wealth and power, the vast majority lives a “nasty, brutish and short” existence. The West launched a counter movement culminating in the grand experiment we know as the United States. It was a super nova in human history. Such a thing as a “middle class”, and class mobility. But, it is coming to an end. We are simply reverting to the mean–0.01 percent live in unbelievable luxury, the rest struggle to eat on a day to day basis.

The US’s vaunted “separation of powers” is an example. The elected representatives (Congress) have largely abdicated–bought off by pursuit of personal wealth. Being part of the 0.01 percent. We are increasingly being ruled by dictates of some combination of the Executive (EO’s) and the non-elected Judiciary.

Milhouse, I have a slightly different take. I don’t think the Left really wants anarchy, they just want to be in charge.

Oh, they don’t want anarchy for its own sake. They want anarchy so they can take over. Once they do that they will of course be against any further anarchy.

But in the meantime the object of many of their policies is to undermine civilization and promote anarchy. To foster discontent. To make the proletariat’s life miserable so it will rise up.

Hence such USSR-sponsored projects as the installation of ugly public art (yes, really), the campaign against Levittowns (“Little Boxes”), the anti-nuclear and environmentalist movements, etc.

Iran promotes video of Kamala Harris praising anti-Israel student:

“Regarding the student’s reference to Middle East policy, Harris said: ‘We still have healthy debates in our country about what is the right path, and nobody’s voice should be suppressed on that.’”

Well, I wasn’t planning on going to any political events, but if I can find one where Willy Brown’s Bratwurst Bun is taking question I’ll be front and center to talk vax mandates, vax effectiveness, artificially exaggerated Covid deaths, and the fact these “vaccines” aren’t vaccines in any sense of the word (as defined in public health laws).
