“If you come to the United States illegally, you will be returned. Your journey will not succeed and you will be endangering your life and your family’s lives.”
DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas scurried to the border after reports informed everyone of the over 10,000 Haitians trying to cross the border.
Leslie blogged about Biden’s plan to deport the Haitians starting on Wednesday with seven flights a day.
Mayorkas insisted the U.S. doesn’t have open borders because the admin will not accept anyone illegally:
“If you come to the United States illegally, you will be returned. Your journey will not succeed and you will be endangering your life and your family’s lives,” Mayorkas said. “This administration is committed to developing safe, orderly and humane pathways for migration. This is not the way to do it.”
Mayorkas outlined some of the ways in which the Biden administration is addressing the current crisis. These include securing additional transportation for return flights to Haiti and other places with the hopes of having one to three flights per day. The government is also trying to address the humanitarian concerns on the ground by providing supplies, water and portable toilets.
It’s weird. Biden told people who want a better life to come to America during a 2019 Democrat presidential primary debate:
“They deserve to be heard. That’s who we are,” Biden said of those applying for asylum in a 2019 debate moderated by Univision’s Jorge Ramos. “We’re a nation that says, ‘You want to flee, and you’re fleeing oppression, you should come.'”
Townhall’s Julio Rosas asked Mayorkas if he will admit in public we have a border crisis. A private recording last month revealed Mayorkas saying as much.
Mayorkas said: “I’m going to stop right there. Let me just say very clearly. We are focused on meeting the challenge. We are focused on [the] mission.”
The Border Patrol has encountered so many migrants, including over 200,000 in July and August.

I asked Sec. Mayorkas if he will publicly admit the situation at the border is a crisis since he was recorded last month privately admitting there is a crisis and it’s unsustainable.
He did not, instead saying DHS is focused on “meeting the challenge.” pic.twitter.com/TmYoxUaqsM

NEW: Mayorkas says there are 1-3 deportation flights to Haiti a day for migrants in Texas. #MTPDaily@JuliaEAinsley: "Later this week we're going to see the number of those deportations rise exponentially. … We expect that to be somewhere between 6 and 8 [flights] per day." pic.twitter.com/EufOKqqdkQ
