Several counties in Connecticut have had recent COVID outbreaks, prompting the school to make this decision.

Yale University reinstitutes face covering policy

Yale University has reinstituted their mask mandate.

Days after the CDC identified seven Connecticut counties, including New Haven County, as COVID hotspots, Yale University made the call to bring back a mask mandate, requiring masks indoors, as well as outdoors at large gatherings and while waiting for a university shuttle, no matter your vaccination status.

Some students say that it’s understandable, especially with the more contagious Delta variant spreading, but there are critics too, who were hopeful to be fully unmasked this Fall.

“It’s a requirement to come back in the Fall, so I think people are wondering why. That seems like such a large measure there,” rising sophomore Matthew Pollack tells us.

Matthew says the new mandate is frustrating, because there already was a COVID vaccine requirement in place to be on-campus this Fall, but he gets there’s more to find out about how the Delta variant spreads among the vaccinated.

“I understand that. At the same time, it’s a shame, because my entire time here has been with masks and with a lot of restrictions, so it’s a shame to not see that going away,” continued Pollack.

“Some students say that it’s understandable”

Some students are idiots. No “science” justifies masks or vaccinating 20 year olds.
