Spanish is a gendered language which is why the words Latino and Latina exist. The left doesn’t like that, and this is why they have pushed the genderless term Latinx.
According to a new Gallup poll, a mere four percent of Latino or Hispanic people prefer Latinx.
Amazingly, CNN reported on this:

In contrast, the poll — released Wednesday — found that 15% prefer “Latino” while 23% prefer “Hispanic.”But most don’t really have a preference, the poll found, with 57% reporting “does not matter.” If they had to choose, most respondents leaned toward “Hispanic,” a term that directly signifies being of Spanish-speaking origin. “Latino,” on the other hand, is less specific, referring instead to Latin America as a whole.The findings from Gallup are consistent with another survey by the Pew Research Center from 2020, where researchers found that only one in four Hispanic or Latino adults had even heard of the term “Latinx.” Only 3% of them used it to describe themselves.

The same poll finds most black Americans prefer the term black over African American:
If They Had to Choose, Most Black Adults Would Choose “Black”In the current survey, for the first time, Gallup asked a follow-up question of Black respondents who did not have a preference whether they lean toward one term over the other if they had to choose.Black Americans were fairly mixed on the question, with a slight preference for “Black” (52%) over “African American” (44%). Four percent had no opinion either way.
NBC Latino did an on-the-street informal poll about this a few years ago and many people didn’t even know what Latinx means.
It’s just another example of how the left attempts to control people through language. They do a pretty good job of it, too.
