Is Charlie Crist Really Leading Ron DeSantis for Florida Governor?

Is Charlie Crist Really Leading Ron DeSantis for Florida Governor?

Let it not be forgotten that Crist has the ignominious distinction of losing state-wide elections as a Republican, as a Democrat, and as an Independent.

Pro-Cuban communism Rep. Charlie Crist (currently D-FL) is reportedly polling ahead of Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in his bid to return, this time as a Democrat, to the governor’s mansion. Color me skeptical.

Crist is among the most weaselly, skeevy pols out there. He was a disgusting, spineless faux Republican, and he’s been equally flaccid as a Democrat. His brief stint as an Indie provides the cherry on top of his laughingstock status.

No politician, excepting perhaps smarmy Mittens McRomneyCare, has leaped from one party to another to none and back with the whiplash speed of Crist. Untethered by principles or morals, Crist cares about Crist. Floridians didn’t take long to figure that out and made him a one-term governor.

As he was reminded when he displayed an absolute lack of self-awareness (or of political savvy) by using ‘make DeSantis “a one-term governor”‘ as his bizarre campaign hook.

What a maroon.

Crist, as governor of Florida, slobbered over then-President Obama’s boondoggle “shovel ready” stimulus, calling it a “godsend.

As he flipped and flopped between parties, Crist was pro-life before he was pro-abortion, then pro-life again, and has now landed on pro-abortion because he’s still currently a Democrat, and Democrats love them some infanticide.

Slimy Crist similarly engaged in the most amazing ideological gymnastics on a number of issues, yet he bizarrely blamed not his ineptitude as a Republican governor for his leaving the party but on a hug he gave Obama. Somewhere. No one really knows about this supposed incident since it didn’t register with anyone anywhere.

After all, it was not only completely unknown but it didn’t register with Republican voters anywhere near the level of horror at the sight of then-New Jersey governor Chris Christie hugging Obama.

Christie, prior to that moment, was a very real contender for the GOP nomination for president, but the optics were not good and were compounded by bridgegate. Crist, in his usual self-aggrandizing fantastical dream-land, apparently imagines he was on the road to the White House. (Spoiler: he wasn’t. Ever. And never will be.)

Let it not be forgotten that Crist has the ignominious distinction of losing state-wide elections as a Republican, as a Democrat, and as an Independent. There’s a reason for that. Floridians have Crist’s number, and that’s why I find suspect this new poll showing Crist (CRIST!) polling ahead of DeSantis.

Even Florida Politics calls it a “shock poll.”

U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist narrowly leads Gov. Ron DeSantis in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup, according to the latest survey from St. Pete Polls.

The results come as DeSantis continues to face criticism for his COVID-19 response amid a major surge in cases and hospitalizations that is making Florida the epicenter of the pandemic.

While his lead is barely within the poll’s 1.6% margin of error, 45% of respondents indicated they’d vote for Crist, a Democrat who formerly served as Governor as a Republican, while just 44% said they’d cast a ballot for DeSantis. Another 11% are still undecided.

That’s a big step up for Crist who, in previous polls, was trailing DeSantis by as much as double digits.

Yeah, no.

Where some Floridians may know the current Crist “Democrat” persona best, on his own home turf, the voters who know him best, reject him en masse.

Florida Politics continues:

Perhaps surprisingly, Crist trails DeSantis in his home media market in the Tampa Bay area, with DeSantis pulling 47% support to Crist’s 45%. DeSantis also leads in the Pensacola, Panama City, Tallahassee, and Jacksonville markets, all in north Florida, a typical Republican stronghold. His strongest performance is in the Panama City market, with 73% support.

Crist, meanwhile, is carrying much of South Florida, with 51% support in West Palm Beach and 57.5% in Miami. DeSantis carries Southwest Florida with 53% support in the Fort Myers area, another Republican stronghold.

DeSantis simply needs to blitz these areas with ads about how Crist supports Cuba, loves him some Cuban totalitarian cruelty, and actively works in the U.S. to ensure that the Cuban people are forever downtrodden and abused by their own government.

Game. Set. Match.

In the age of DOMINION UBER ALLES don’t be so sure.

All of the DIMs behave as if it is “in the bag”.

In the water industry, they are still spending Obama’s “shovel ready” pork dollars to this day.

JusticeDelivered in reply to Paul. | August 5, 2021 at 1:09 pm

Yep, they are spending $5-10K replacing lead service lines to ghetto homes which are worth $3000 on the market, and then they replace all their old lead bearing brass faucets and inside plumbing for another $5000 or more. Of course, much of that money goes to graft.

Depends on who counts the votes.

I’ll have to check with Conservative Tree House and see how “Skeptical Cat” feels about that poll.

Here’s the problem with the poll: It way overrepresents older voters. And that is not surprising considering it is a phone poll.

Those over 70 make up less than 20% of registered voters in Florida, yet almost 30% of the poll participants are over 70. Those 50 and over make up about 52% of registered voters in Florida, yet over 63% of the poll participants are over 50.

The problem is not that it over represents older voters; ask any one in the Villages, and you’ll see that’s incorrect. It’s that they over sampled Democrat party voters; many who may have misrepresented themselves as independent, or Republican.

      Agreed. This poll is suspicious as hell. Here’s my rule of thumb for polls;
Ignore all polls less than 75 days from election, in blue states add 2% for the r, in red states add 4% in order to get closer to reality. It’s a poll not the election. Events intervene between now and then.

Polling has become nothing more than an extension of the left0wing gaslighting that goes on every day.

Polls are not to be believed at all anymore. They’re all designed to advance an agenda.

Polls were once designed to gage public opinion. Today’s polls are designed to affect public opinion.

      iowan2 in reply to bw222. | August 5, 2021 at 5:39 pm

      Of course.
DeSantis has been in the target all week, or longer. This is just more of the leftists standard operating lies. Polls are used to drive a narrative. Polls are purchased for a purpose. Who is buying (commissioned) the poll. What is their goal.

Crist is a professional pol: If he’s not in office he’s running for office.

Let them say whatever they want to say.
Let weasel boy run.

It’s going to be an easy win for DeSantis.

Does anyone believe any polling done by anyone in or associated with the Dem-media propaganda complex anymore?

JusticeDelivered | August 5, 2021 at 1:16 pm

It was funny that the Dem echo chamber had them convinced that Hillary would win.

Depends on who will count the votes!

Pollsters are as corrupt as the media.

One of the most embarrassing alums of my alma mater and that’s saying something.

I still can’t believe I bought into this guy when I lived in the state. I’m guessing Gillum is too coked up and infested with STDs to run against De Santis this time.

healthguyfsu | August 5, 2021 at 3:20 pm

By the way, in Virginia one term governor is a regular thing because it is part of the limits the state places on political aristocracy. Of course, those norms are in danger right now with McAuliffe wanting to hop back in (it’s been done before but not often…he knows he can’t take Kaine or Warner’s seats so he just wants to grift and try to gun grab more this time). His “biparistan” campaigning crap is just that…this guy only worked with conservatives because he had no choice; he will be a disaster without the checks and balances.

Charlie Crist……..loser!

FortesFortunaJuvat | August 5, 2021 at 4:00 pm

crist is a loser and there is no legitimate way he is leading Governor DeSantis.

pablo panadero | August 5, 2021 at 4:51 pm

Remember DeSantis claiming that the NY/NJ refugees were registering mostly as Republicans? They are so stupid that they will view Crist as the Moderate in the race, with DeSantis as too radical. It can happen. Build a wall now Florida.

caseoftheblues | August 5, 2021 at 5:18 pm

My dog wearing a Desantis mask would beat Crist. Our guv is well loved and admired down here

They cannot cheat enough for Crist to beat DeSantis. Not even close.

Polls are numbers. Numbers can be manipulated in ways which represent any given position. Key to those numbers are the way the questions are phrased. Bottom Line: Polls are worthless.

“No politician, excepting perhaps smarmy Mittens McRomneyCare, has leaped from one party to another to none and back with the whiplash speed of Crist.”

Huhwhut?

Being Governor of Massachusetts didn’t make Romney a Democrat. (It would have given him cooties, except he already had those anyway.)

Maybe you’re thinking of Mike Bloomberg.

barbiegirl ny | August 6, 2021 at 8:45 am

I highly doubt that AMERICAN CITIZENS in this state, many of whom fled other communist states, would be this stupid. Trust NOTHING and NO ONE. Don’t let any of these polls discourage you. The commies are already preparing for the 2022 election by ratcheting up the “next pandemic”, so adding some disheartening news to the mix should come as no surprise. They’re as evil, devious, corrupt bastards as they come.

I believe those poll results…………are the result fo polling only Democrats with a hypothetical race.

Now if they asked the same people the open ended “Who would you like for the next Governor?” Charlie Crist would get very few mentions.

Most polls are nothing but manufactured lies intended to drive public opinion, not measure it. The few commissioned by candidates who actually want to know where they stand are never released to the public — they would overturn the narrative that the politicians and fake-news work so hard to make people believe.

Charlie Crist leads nowhere, except among the establishment political hacks who would like to force him on voters — because they can control him.
