The strain of actually campaigning during a tight race is clearly showing on California Governor Gavin Newsom.
I wrote that the governor faces a “wall of apathy” among Democratic voters, and the “unsophisticated ones” want him recalled. The struggle to avoid being booted out shows that this is the first time Newsom has had to work to make his case to the electorate in quite some time.
Campaign fatigue may be setting in, as the governor gave a profanity-filled response during an interview with reporters the many of the state’s leading news media outlets…complaining about other states.

Gavin Newsom snapped last week while talking to reporters, ranting that everyone outside the Golden State is “b—-ing” about it.Newsom, who is facing a closer-than-anticipated recall election, spoke to the Sacramento Bee in an interview last week in which he grew angry at critics of California.Clips from interview have since gained steam online, where they have been making the rounds on social media.”It would be nice if our homegrown team would be focusing on what’s right,” the embattled governor yelled. “Everybody outside this state is b—-ing about this state.”
The trouble is that California’s rules are toxic not only to our businesses but to those in other states. The most recent example is the latest regulation impacting the distribution of pork products, which required two US Senators from the great state of Iowa to intervene.
Speaking of toxic to California…the response that is getting the most play is his answer to the press query about many of the policies that have been enacted that are devastating the state.

The interview took place on July 29 and was published on Aug. 5 by the Sacramento Bee.”California has the nation’s highest housing cost, highest gasoline prices, and highest utilities. Wage growth has been spectacular in Silicon Valley but not so much for areas along the coast and in some inland areas,” an interviewer said to Newsom over a video call. “How do you make the case that you as governor can deliver the California dream to all Californians?”The governor responded with a lengthy rundown “off the top of [his] damn head” on the sectors that California dominates outside of Silicon Valley tech companies, including logging and manufacturing.
The interview was pretty dramatic and can be viewed via the Sacramento Bee.

It also hints that he may accept that he may not survive the recall election (emphasis mine).

He challenged the premise of more than one question posed to him. He spoke of policy decisions that he predicted would be viewed favorably by history even if voters “kicked” him out in this recall.
According to California Globe’s Katy Grimes, during the 6-1/2 minute interview, Gov. Newsom said ‘damn’ nine times and slammed his desk with his hand and fist 59 times. Indeed, an aerobic workout!
