Biden Admin Alarmed Over China’s Growing Nuclear Arsenal

President Joe Biden’s administration is worried about Communist China’s growing nuclear arsenal. The Biden White House is alarmed that Chinese nuclear arsenal appears to be growing “more quickly, and to a higher level than perhaps previously anticipated,” the State Department spokesman Ned Price on Thursday said.

The reaction from the Biden administration comes as satellite imagery earlier this week revealed a vast nuclear weapons complex in the desert of north central China.

Researchers from the California-based Middlebury Institute of International Studies uncovered 119 silos suspected of holding intercontinental ballistic missiles. “Spread across more than 700 sq miles, the site near Yumen includes the construction of underground bunkers, which may function as launch centres, cable trenches, roads and a small military base,” the researchers said.

In face of the growing Chinese nuclear threat, the Biden State Department urged Beijing to undertake “practical measures to reduce nuclear risks.”

The Reuters news agency reported the Biden administration’s response:

The United States said on Thursday China’s rapid build-up of its nuclear forces was concerning and called on Beijing to engage with it “on practical measures to reduce the risks of destabilizing arms races.”The build up had become more difficult for China to hide and it appeared it was deviating from decades of nuclear strategy based around minimal deterrence, State Department spokesperson Ned Price told a regular news briefing.Price was responding to a question about a report in the Washington Post that said China had begun constructing more than 100 new missile silos in a desert area in the western part of the country.”These reports and other developments suggest that the PRC’s nuclear arsenal will grow more quickly, and to a higher level than perhaps previously anticipated,” Price said using the acronym for the People’s Republic of China.”This buildup is concerning. It raises questions about the PRC’s intent. And for us, it reinforces the importance of pursuing practical measures to reduce nuclear risks,” he said.”We encourage Beijing to engage with us on practical measures to reduce the risks of destabilizing arms races – potentially destabilizing tensions.”

There are no signs that China is in any mood to listen to the Biden administration’s pleas for moderation and de-escalation.  The Communist regime is doubling down on its belligerent rhetoric towards the United States and its allies.

Pointing likely towards the U.S. and the West, Chinese President Xi Jinping recently threatened that Beijing’s enemies will “have their heads cracked and bleeding” in any future conflict. They “will find themselves on a collision course with a great wall of steel forged by over 1.4 billion Chinese people,” Xi warned in a televised speech marking the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party.

Beijing’s tone towards the U.S. has turned even more belligerent since President Donald Trump left the White House. The U.S.-China summit in Alaska ended in a train wreck, with Chinese representatives humiliating the Biden negotiating team in front of running cameras.

China is not the only rogue regime investing in underground ballistic missile facilities. Earlier this year, Iran — a key Chinese ally in the Middle East — unveiled a massive underground ballistic missiles storage facility. “Iranian state TV … aired footage of what it said was a new [Iran’s Islamic] Revolutionary Guard base, a ‘missile city’ armed to the teeth with cruise and ballistic weapons,” the CNBC reported in March.

The Biden White House hopes to contain the Iranian nuclear threat by rolling back Trump-era economic sanctions and restoring the disastrous Obama-Kerry deal.
