UK Daily Mail: Study Claims Chinese Scientists Bioengineered Coronavirus

UK Daily Mail: Study Claims Chinese Scientists Bioengineered Coronavirus

The researchers also assert Chinese scientists reverse-engineered versions of the virus to cover up their tracks after the pandemic began.

A bombshell study that is poised to be published claims to have proof that Chinese scientists bioengineered the coronavirus that caused the COVID-19 pandemic.

Furthermore, the analysis also shows that the Chinese researchers tried to reverse-engineer versions of the virus to make it look like it evolved naturally from bats.

British Professor Angus Dalgleish and Norwegian scientist Dr. Birger Sørensen wrote they’ve had primary evidence “of retro-engineering in China” since last year, but were ignored by academics and major medical journals, The Daily Mail reported Saturday, citing the soon-to-be-published study.

The study concludes: “the likelihood of it being the result of natural processes is very small.” The virus is still killing 12,000 people a day around the world.

Dalgleish is a London oncology professor known for breakthrough work on a vaccine for HIV. Sørensen is a virologist and chair of the pharmaceutical company Immunor, which developed a coronavirus vaccine candidate called Biovacc-19. Dalgleish also has a financial stake in that company.

The journal article is slated to be published in the next few days by Quarterly Review of Biophysics Discovery. The material was exclusively obtained by, which provided a snapshot of some of Dalgleish’s and Sørensen’s findings in its recently published review of the upcoming study.

Digging through archives of journals and databases, Dalgleish and Sørensen pieced together how Chinese scientists, some working in concert with American universities, allegedly built the tools to create the coronavirus.

Much of the work was centered around controversial ‘Gain of Function’ research – temporarily outlawed in the US under the Obama administration.

Gain of Function involves tweaking naturally occurring viruses to make them more infectious, so that they can replicate in human cells in a lab, allowing the virus’s potential effect on humans to be studied and better understood.

Dalgleish and Sørensen claim that scientists working on Gain of Function projects took a natural coronavirus ‘backbone’ found in Chinese cave bats and spliced onto it a new ‘spike’, turning it into the deadly and highly transmissible SARS-Cov-2.

One tell-tale sign of alleged manipulation the two men highlighted was a row of four amino acids they found on the SARS-Cov-2 spike.

The four-amino-acid sequence is unnatural because they are all positively charged and would not reside next to each other in a genetic sequence that arose naturally. The grouping also means that the protein sticks to human cells like a magnet.

Legal Insurrection readers may recall I cited other genetic markers, which were also hallmarks of man-made manipulation, in my review of a detailed analysis of the origins of the coronavirus by veteran science writer Nicolas Wade.

The article provides diagrams of the the coronavirus RNA-structure, with the locations of man-made linking marked. The review also includes a table that shows that after the pandemic began to rage across the globe, the Chinese scientists submitted a number of different samples to the GenBank years after they were collected, in an effort to retro-engineer the virus and “prove” its “natural origins”. The Chinese clearly worked to tie bats and pangolins to the virus.

It is also being reported that the study will also blast China, academia, and the media for their mishandling of information related to the pathogen.

Quoting the authors, Daily Mail said that the duo had “prima facie evidence of retro-engineering in China” for a year but was ignored by academics and major journals. The study also accuses Chinese labs of “deliberate destruction, concealment or contamination of data.”

Dalgleish and Sørensen paint a very damning picture. Hopefully, I will be able to review the full 22-page report, as this may be one of the most important scientific findings ever published about COVID-19.

If this is true its a huge story!

Makes WHO look like idiots. Reveals NIH and CDC to be incompetent buffoons. Reveals how politicized science has become. Shows the mainstream media are really just a bunch of close-minded hacks who care little about the truth. Confirms that no person with a functional brain can get news from MSM anymore. Makes every clear-minded person who still thinks for themselves question what has become of our society.

Moreover, It makes Biden look stupid for trying to give China a pass. It will now be harder for Biden’s so-called “Covid-Origin Commission” to whitewash the the China connection. But don”t be surprised if they try to do so anyway because if China said the sky is green – they would likely go along because China has huge influence on America’s politicians.

Finally, like it or not, whether you’re a R or D, it objectively makes Trump look smart for putting on spotlight on China.

The sun coming up in the morning makes Biden look stupid. That is not at all hard.

Biden said his Nat’l Security Team was divided almost 50-50 on whether the virus was from the lab or naturally occurring. Maybe its time to fire the half of “intelligence” that can’t seem to figure out issues if they relate to China (or at least call them something other than “intelligence” – any suggestions on what the new term for these analysts is welcome). By the way, Bonus if the analysts fired are the same half that found evidence of nuclear weapon in Iraq.

Covid is natural and came from wet-market

        Trump Colluded with Russia

Iran is years away from a nuclear device

Iraq is on verge of Nuclear weapon

China won’t dare violate the Hong Kong self-governing agreement

North Korea doesn’t have the capability to develop a nuclear weapon.

        >> what am I missing – surely there are plenty more

So is it now okay to call it the China virus? Aren’t things usually named after their inventors?

DaveGinOly in reply to Pasadena Phil. | May 31, 2021 at 6:48 pm

I’ve noted that of late the MSM has no problem calling corona virus variants “British”, “Brazilian”, and “Indian.”

The Chinese regime is the last, best hope of 20th century totalitarianism; and has been given a pass for decades.

Re: The four-amino-acid sequence is unnatural because they are all positively charged and would not reside next to each other in a genetic sequence that arose naturally.

My daughter, who has a PhD in microbiology, confirmed that this statement is accurate.

IMO, the escape from the lab was accidental, given how highly contagious it is, but the spread from China was intentionally not stopped (to gain competitive advantage and get rid of Trump)..

Legitimate research produces copious evidence, in the form of laboratory records. If there are sections of the Wuhan lab records that are pencilled (faked), substituted, or missing, there will be traces left behind.

We also need to watch for traces of CCP action: disappearances of researchers or members of their families, reversals in public positions taken by researchers or critics of the CCP, concerted explosions of fake news fireworks, etc.

Finally, we need to look at the differences between the CCP vaccines and those of the rest of the world, to find out whether the vaccines should be discontinued due to a tendency to provoke a hyperimmune response on subsequent challenge.

An invasion of Taiwan would provide a suitable distraction from an unequivocal finding of China’s responsibility for COVID.

accidental release my ass.

This story is apparently exploding faster than the spinners can spin.

Of course it is chinese engineered virus with funding and research provided by democrats in the USA.

It is a biological weapon, and the chinese are at war with us. The evidence is clear. The chinese made certain to spread their weapon around the world.

Only an intent to spread the virus would cause such behavior.

DaveGinOly in reply to Barry. | May 31, 2021 at 7:00 pm

    Sorry, Barry, no “intent” necessary.
I was actually going to post this link for another purpose, but intended to call out what I find most interesting about it, and that “interesting” bit flies in the face of any need for “intent.”

So that’s a story about gain-of-function research, Fauci, the WIV, and the NIH. We all know it by now. But here’s what caught my attention:

The experiments are also opposed by prominent scientists, including the Cambridge Working Group of 200 researchers which issued a public warning in 2014.

“Accident risks with newly created “potential pandemic pathogens” raise grave new concerns,” the group’s letter read. “Laboratory creation of highly transmissible, novel strains of dangerous viruses, especially but not limited to influenza, poses substantially increased risks.

“An accidental infection in such a setting could trigger outbreaks that would be difficult or impossible to control.

Experts knew that even an “accidental” release could produce “outbreaks that would be difficult or impossible to control.” Yet we wrecked our economies and societies, to say nothing of the personal misery inflicted, for no good reason, and “experts” knew that it would be all “cost” and very little, if any, “benefit.”

(To get back to Barry’s statement – The above shows that “intent” wasn’t necessary. All the was necessary was the accidental release of a virus that had been modified in a way that it would be particularly virulent. The virus takes care of the rest.)

We all knew this last year and

NOTHING will happen

They hold all the cards

They produce 90% of our drugs, manufacture most of our crap

You think Alzheimer’s Xiden would do anything?

The fact that the MSM is now “allowing” discussion of the compelling circumstantial evidence for a lab origin of Covid19, after a year of suppression of the story (and retaliation against anyone who dared try) may be the brick to shatter The Matrix for some not already awakened.

But this leads me back to the other great lie/suppression/propoganda op of our time: The Big Cheat Election of 2020. The two of course are related, with the forces of globalism, cronyism, corruption, Big China and ideological Marxism all allied in interests to defeat the one leader who threatened to roll back their agenda that has gone largely unchecked for 20+ years.

The truth must come out. But in the meanwhile, I would ask LI if it could perform a great service to the debate and publish a summary analysis of all the “election suits” brought by Team Trump (i.e. Team America-as-founded) in terms of salient issues/evidence and the grounds for decision.

It is too easy for most to hand-waive the mountains of evidence of large scale shenanigans by saying “20 lawsuits were all found baseless” etc. We know that most were dismissed on procedural/standing grounds, and some cases simply wrongly decided on Constitutional issues. The remaining were all before there was a chance to develop the kind of evidence now emerging in AZ and GA.

Would. L.I. take this on a public service? Maybe join forces with Peter Navarro?

The fact that they are “allowing” it isn’t because they are being forced to, it’s because it now somehow serves their purposes in whatever the next step of their game is. They’re not allowing it because they have somehow been forced to, by exposure or any other reality-based reason — no one can force them to discuss anything they don’t want to see discussed. (Hunter’s laptop, anyone?)

Our country is over run with Chinese products, Chinese students, Chinese influence, China buying up land and taking over US companies. China’s fingers are in just about everything including our media – government conglomerate. So it’s a sad state of affairs that our first instinct, when China does something nefarious, is cover and defend China. And only later, if at all, begin to question China.

Next we need to know Fauci’s involvement.

markm in reply to maxmillion. | May 31, 2021 at 3:36 pm

He approved funding for gain of function research in Chinese labs, because it was considered too dangerous to do in the USA – even with level 5 containment. The lab in Wuhan is apparently level 2, described as like a dentist’s office.

DaveGinOly in reply to markm. | May 31, 2021 at 7:08 pm

The most secure labs at WIV are level 4. But the research on bat corona viruses was being conducted in a level 2 lab, when it should have been in a level 3 or 4 lab.

The lab was certified as meeting the standards and criteria of BSL-4 by the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) in January. (2017)

Interestingly, this article is accompanied with the following disclaimer, that Nature appears to have forgotten:

Editors’ note, January 2020: Many stories have promoted an unverified theory that the Wuhan lab discussed in this article played a role in the coronavirus outbreak that began in December 2019. Nature knows of no evidence that this is true; scientists believe the most likely source of the coronavirus to be an animal market.

henrybowman | May 30, 2021 at 12:27 pm

So these two British and Norwegian scientists are clearly way more competent than all the American researchers who were telling us over and over all last spring and summer that the COVID virus could not possibly have been humanly engineered.

American exceptionalists, take note. Those days are gone.

I would like to point out that as I have been following the story since the beginning, the most reliable sources of news have been British and Indian. Also, we can’t be certain of American researchers were also sounding the alarm, because their views have been suppressed.

Dathurtz in reply to henrybowman. | May 30, 2021 at 12:48 pm

I personally know 3 virologists who got red-pilled last April because they thought the virus had to be engineered. That’s 100% of the virologists I know, though the sample size is too small.

I didn’t comment in another forum on this yesterday. Half the commenters said there was no proof it was manmade, that gene editing would have left traces that could be seen. And yet, I recall reading a year ago that there was evidence of gene editing. But in the MSM. Seems the evidence has been here all along, and there are many still not seeing it.

Is it possible that Rona is natural and has an intermediate host animal? Sure. We haven’t identified a species host/bridge for Ebola and have been looking since the late 1970’s.

That said, lots of people with experience in the field have pointed out that there are curious things about Rona that seem to indicate it has characteristics consistent with human tinkering. Is it man made? Maybe.

Taking into account the origin Nation and location. The response of that Nation to downplay the situation. In fact to deliberately mislead and obscure the problem so much that international flights were not curtailed….the fact that they did not invite independent evaluation of the two labs in the city of origin or deliver full and complete data from those labs and its health care providers to the international community for independent analysis and verification….

Those things taken together seem to indicate China is disingenuous at best. In the absence of proof from the Chinese of exculpatory evidence or even willing cooperation with anyone independent of China, it seems fair to say that it likely came from one of the labs inadvertently from a failure to follow safety protocol.

IMO, the ball is the court of China to disprove that very reasonable assumption. They have yet to do so.

China has nothing to worry about. Comrade Biden’s IC is frantically busy manufacturing a cover story for China that our leftwing media and propaganda cartel will enthusiastically use for future ‘fact checking’ when anyone on the right tries to assign any blame to China.

Comrade Biden, and his handlers, have no choice . The Chinese Commies have leverage on him and his corrupt family. They can destroy his presidency.

RandomCrank | May 30, 2021 at 6:16 pm

Beware of single studies, especially when they tell you what you wanted to hear. There is a crisis of replication, and it’s getting worse. This news is interesting, but cannot be regarded as definitive — even if I quite strongly suspect that it’s true.

Now the world realizes the American “conspiracy theory“ never was.

Maybe we should investigate Warren Buffet. He was talking about an upcoming economic disturbance a full 18 months prior to Covid. What did they know and when did they know?
People need to be hung for this.

Finally, I want to know if my tax dollars were used to further Gain of Function testing in China……or anywhere. Don’t do that, government! And you wonder why no one trusts you.

CommoChief in reply to scooterjay. | May 30, 2021 at 7:26 pm

It seems so based on Fauchi testimony. He authorized gain of function grants. He authorized grants to foreign labs. He refused to definitely state whether gain of function was performed in Wuhan …

IMO, there is a large amount of previously unknown to the public data about to breech the dam so to speak. The questioning by Senators and the less expansive, carefully phrased answers seems to indicate that some of this is known to the Senators and that the public health officials don’t know how much information the Senators actually have.

Anyone think the Chinese Commies and the Biden admin, including ‘our’ IC, would have any problem with making Fauci and a few unlucky Chinese scientists the fall guys in all of this?

‘They did this without our approval and knowledge. And hid the facts from us.’ — Chinese Commies and the Biden admin.

Fauci will get a slap on the hand and be forced to retire — at 80. And no one will ever know what happened to those unlucky Chinese scientists. Any deviation from this narrative will be declared a ‘conspiracy theory’ by our media overlords and state approved ‘fact checkers’.

The chinese win because half of America is blind. There is no real dispute, just lies and uninformed ignorant bafflegab.

Let’s see, what were some major developments leading up to the outbreak…

-imminent failure of the 2nd impeachment attempt

-Arrest of 3 people spying/selling info to China

-Booming US economy

-Trump talking tougher tariffs on Chinese products

-Return of manufacturing in US

-Upcoming US presidential election

And ask yourself, who stood to benefit from covid lockdowns and the crash of the US economy?

“Engineered” or not, I’m convinced the release was intentional. The only thing the CCP did not know was how close mRNA vaccines were to deployment in the US. It took a trillion dollars of taxpayer money, which would be paid back by Pfizer and Moderna from sales to other countries, if Biden hadn’t waved that requirement. But at the end of the day, anything the Democrats can do to distract attention from one of Trump’s greatest achievements, they will do. And I say this as someone who never voted for him.
