We have been following the antics of Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon who won his George-Soros-backed election in 2020.
At the end of January, Legal Insurrection reported that ultra-progressive Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón’s “reforms” were putting the region’s criminal justice system in “free fall.” For example, Gascón forced his prosecutors to read statements in court impugning the state’s “three strikes” law and ending specific penalties.
The situation was so bad that the Association of Deputy District Attorneys for Los Angeles County argue in a lawsuit that deputy district attorneys cannot follow the directives without violating the state penal code. A judge subsequently blocked Gascón’s efforts to impose his reform directives.
In March, Los Angeles citizens began organizing to oust him. This week, the ouster has moved a little closer to reality as the Los Angeles County Registrar approved the petition to recall Gascón.
“George Gascon got elected by disguising a radical, dangerous, and pro-criminal agenda as ‘criminal justice reform,’ but that’s not what he is doing,” Desiree Andrade, organizer and spokesperson for the Recall George Gascon campaign, said in a press release. “What he failed to mention was that he would cater to the most heinous offenders in our society at the expense of victims and let cold-blooded killers back onto our streets.Proponents of the recall now have 160 days to collect signatures from 579,062 registered L.A. County voters. The registrar then has 30 days to certify the signatures. If successful, a recall election would likely take place in 2022.
Victims of Violent Crime for the Recall of District Attorney Gascón said it would formally kick-off the petition drive shortly.
“George Gascón got elected by disguising a radical, dangerous, and pro-criminal agenda as ‘criminal justice reform,’ but that’s not what he is doing,” said Desiree Andrade, organizer and spokeswoman for the effort to recall Gascón.”What he failed to mention was that he would cater to the most heinous offenders in our society at the expense of victims and let cold-blooded killers back onto our streets,” she said. “We have no choice but to seek Gascón’s immediate removal from office because his twisted social experiment is jeopardizing the safety of our communities and revictimizing victims and their families all over again.”
As this weren’t enough humiliation, the area cities of Azusa, Santa Fe Springs passed votes of ‘no confidence’ in Gascón.
Other cities that have passed similar measures taking issue with Gascón’s policies: Beverly Hills, Covina, Lancaster, La Mirada, Pico Rivera, Rosemead, Santa Clarita and Whittier.Council members in Azusa and Santa Fe Springs said Gascón’s policies are endangering public safety by not prosecuting numerous misdemeanor cases, not seeking enhanced punishments — including additional prison time for gang affiliation or weapons use — and not prosecuting minors as adults, even for complex or violent crimes.In Wednesday telephone interviews, Santa Fe Springs Mayor John Mora and Councilman Jay Sarno said Gascón’s policies are hurting police morale in their communities.“The police have a hard enough job as it is,” Sarno said. “When you’re out there risking your life every day and not getting the end results from an arrest because higher-ups aren’t prosecuting them, it demoralizes our police.”
California residents are really going to have to learn to take the Red Pill before elections, not after.
