CDC Bends COVID Rules to Allow Migrant Shelters to Operate at Full Capacity

All over the country, there are businesses, schools, and churches that are still not allowed to reopen, but it’s a different story at migrant shelters.

The CDC is now bending the rules to allow these shelters to operate at full capacity.

Stef W. Kight reports at Axios:

CDC lets child migrant shelters fill to 100% despite COVID concern

The Centers for Disease Control is allowing shelters handling child migrants who cross the U.S.-Mexico border to expand to full capacity, abandoning a requirement that they stay near 50% to inhibit the spread of the coronavirus, Axios has learned.

Why it matters: The fact that the country’s premier health advisory agency is permitting a change in COVID-19 protocols indicates the scale of the immigration crisis. A draft memo obtained by Axios conceded “facilities should plan for and expect to have COVID-19 cases.”

– The document goes on to recommend detailed ways to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in shelters.

– It encourages operators to continue giving COVID-19 tests to newly arrived children, follow 14-day quarantine guidelines, wear masks, improve ventilation and ensure they save room for isolating any child who tests positive, among other actions.

– The memo states that there “is no 0% risk scenario” given the coronavirus, so “facilities should plan for and expect to have COVID-19 cases,” CNN first reported.

– A spokesperson for HHS did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Are you getting a sense that there are two sets of rules here?

On a related note, I’d like to know… Who is supplying migrants at the border with professionally made Biden t-shirts and signs?

Audrey Conklin writes at FOX News:

Migrants wear Biden T-shirts at US-Mexico border, demand clearer policies

Migrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border on Tuesday were photographed wearing T-shirts in support of President Biden at the San Ysidro crossing port in Tijuana, Baja California state.

One apparent migrant held up a poster that read, “Biden, please let us in!”…

There has been a recent surge in the number of unaccompanied minors arriving at the U.S. border from Mexico, according to The Wall Street Journal, though the Biden administration has rejected the term “crisis” to describe the situation.

The panel on The Five discussed this a few days ago:

Migrants come to the border with nothing but the clothes on their backs, but somehow have the resources to create professional signs and t-shirts. Makes perfect sense.

“Four legs good, two legs better”. “

As I recall, the t-shirt industry mass produces these things ahead of time such as the Superbowl shirts that are sold *at* the game after the win with the un-winning team shirts shipped to third world nations. I’m willing to bet the Biden campaign has a bazillion unsold and ungiven shirts in warehouses across the nation, since there was zero interest in his swag. I can’t help but wonder if some brilliant/half-wit in the campaign had the bright idea to ship some of the obsolete crap they had to get rid of. Oops.

Texas opened up. It has a Republican governor. If one were to have a cynical view of this presidential administration, you might think they’re sending tens of thousands of Covid cases to mingle in the community so they can point later and say “See! Their caseload jumped when they opened up! Blame the Republicans!”

Well, those certainly wouldn’t say “let us in.”

Oh, heck. I missed that. That makes it a custom print job done for the moment, since adding a message to an existing surplus shirt is a lot of work.

      So much for spontaneity.

“. . . is permitting a change in COVID-19 protocols indicates the scale of the immigration crisis.”

More accurately it’s an indication of how much these people (the immigrants themselves and Democrat pols and Democrat bureaucrats) want to take us for a ride. All at our expense.

Yeah, Dems, fill up Obama’s cages again.

Can we move he conversation to the flying obvious: we are living under martial law, and illegal aliens have been deemwd super-citizens.

Pro-Choice, selective, opportunistic, relativistic (“ethical”) is not just policy, it’s a State-established religion.

Bless their hearts.

This bit confuses me though. Was reading a Brownsville digital paper and it had this quote. “The Brownsville official said they do not have the authority to prevent those who test positive from boarding buses to travel into the U.S. interior.”

Why would they ‘not’ have the authority to stop anyone, citizen, legal immigrant, or illegal border crosser, from boarding an enclosed public vehicle, knowingly carrying a contagious disease?
