Biden’s bureaucrats nix July 4th fireworks at Mount Rushmore

COVID-fear is being used as the excuse to cancel the celebration.

Last year, former President Donald Trump gave an epic address for the July 4th celebration at Mt. Rushmore. While there were protesters and ginned-up COVID-drama, the event went off spectacularly.

Governor Kristi Noem had hoped for another Independence Day display at Mt. Rushmore this year.

Noem sent a letter to the state’s congressional delegation earlier this week asking for their assistance in advocating for the fireworks as the Biden administration takes power in Washington. There’s been concern that the president’s Secretary of the Interior nominee Deb Haaland would put a stop to the fourth of July festivities.

Noem says she hopes the administration will honor agreements that have already been signed to hold this year’s fireworks show.

”All of the parameters and permitting processes have been laid out already and the documents signed,” Noem said. “With the change in administration, we just hope they continue through with that and not pull the rug out from underneath us, much like they did with the Keystone pipeline.”

However, the Biden administration could not yank the carpet out from under Noem fast enough . . . using COVID as a cover.

The Biden administration has decided not to allow Fourth of July fireworks at Mount Rushmore — citing the COVID-19 pandemic — in a reversal of former President Donald Trump’s decision to allow them at the national monument.

The National Parks Service made the call despite Biden saying in a primetime speech Thursday that COVID-19 likely will wane to the point of life nearing normal by July 4.

Parks Service Regional Director Herbert Frost wrote to South Dakota’s tourism office that it it is “only prudent to make plans based on the best available science and public health guidance available today.”

“Potential risks to the park itself and to the health and safety of employees and visitors associated with the fireworks demonstration continue to be a concern and are still being evaluated as a result of the 2020 event,” Frost wrote in the letter, which was first reported by The Hill.

Previously, environmental concerns had been used to cancel the show.

Last year, fireworks returned to Mount Rushmore for an Independence Day celebration for the first time since 2009. They had previously been canceled due to wildfire risks.

At the time of last year’s event, former President Trump gave a speech, and social distancing and mask wearing were not enforced.

In his letter to South Dakota Tourism Secretary Jim Hagen, Frost said that with such a large gathering, complying with social distancing protocols would be “difficult, if not impossible.”

I guess we are suppose to be grateful that we may be allowed to hold small family bar-b-ques this Independence Day. And while I will celebrate our founding fathers, I will be drinking heavily to at least temporarily forget the current leadership that is being foisted upon Americans.

“… the best available science and public health guidance available today.”

By now, everyone on Earth should recognize this as code for, “Shut up and do what your betters tell you!”

Great Maker, just more of the “If Trump did it before we aren’t going to allow it to happen again.” nonsense in the Biden regime’s desperate attempts to make Pres. Trump and all his accomplishments disappear from history. Pathetic. Simply pathetic.

2smartforlibs | March 13, 2021 at 12:36 pm

What made anyone think the commie regime had any intention of hold one anywhere?

Lucifer Morningstar in reply to 2smartforlibs. | March 13, 2021 at 1:10 pm

They’ll stick several thousand flags in a field like they did at Biden’s installation ceremony and say those are all the people that would have come to the fireworks display if it weren’t for the evil Covid and fire off several tens of thousands of dollars worth of fireworks over the empty field while Joe, fake Dr. Jill and a few specially selected people watch while properly socially distanced from one another.

    Guaranteed to happen. Just watch.

Worry not, comrades, as we will have most spectacular fireworks show ever to commemorate the ascendancy of the holy woke priestess Kamala to the presidency next year.

Super spreaders that never happened:
– 1.4 million people attended Trump rallies with no reported spread
– Sturgis welcomed 400,000 very drunk non-spreaders
– Trump rally attended by hundreds of thousands of non-spreaders on January 6th.
– Trump & Pence acceptance of nominations had no subsequent spreaders in attendance.
– No spreaders on any beaches in Florida
– No spreaders at Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year celebrations around the country.

Covid is spreading among illegal immigrants crossing from Mexico, though.

Guess the 4th of July is a soon to be forgotten holiday, maybe May 1 should have been tried.

I hope Noem holds a celebration there instead, invites some other good leaders (DeSantis, Abbott, Dan Crenshaw aka “Patch” ,etc.) and they blow the lid off the joint.

All Mao celebrations are a go and will happen on schedule.

You have to understand that Independence Day on the 4th of July celebrates a country that the Left and the current regime have no loyalty to. We will be advised what to celebrate, when by Jen Psaki once the regime decides and the GOPe concurs.

If Noem celebrates the 4th of July at Mr Rushmore, she will be on the ticket in 2024.

She and Desantis would win, even beyond the margin of cheating …

I hope she holds it over the administration’s orders.

“”She and Desantis would win, even beyond the margin of cheating …””

That’s what people thought last year. Dems have demonstrated that their ability to “cheat” can overcome ANY margin, as long as they control the executive and judicial entities.

Evil Otto in reply to txvet2. | March 14, 2021 at 6:46 am

Exactly right. They no longer care to disguise it beyond the most perfunctory level. Any amount of fraud will simply be dismissed by the Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself), even if it’s ridiculously blatant.

And half the population is cool with that.

Move the fireworks off of federal land. This is all unconstitutional anyway so honor your oath to only obey lawful orders.

Fireworks are banned here in LA too but I expect this year’s fireworks will be even more spectacular than last year’s which lit up LA like “shock and awe” Fallujah when it seemed like everyone was firing off fireworks from their own homes.

It’s over, folks. The damage is has gone too far.

Voting is now corrupt (in other words: WE DO NOT HAVE FREE ELECTIONS ANYMORE) .

Quasi-government goons like BLM and Antifa are free to destroy and kill – us.

The FBI has been corrupted, and a goon named Wray heads it- with the goal of targeting you and I.

And now, the fait accompli: the US military is now being groomed to turn its guns on you and I:

Official US Military Twitter Account Trolls and Attacks Civilians, Refers to Tucker Carlson as a “Boomer”:
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2021/03/official-us-military-twitter-account-trolls-attacks-civilians-refers-tucker-carlson-boomer/

It won’t be long until the Official US Military Twitter Account calls Tucker a traitor. And it won’t be long until the Official US Military Twitter Account calls you and I traitors. And it won’t be long until the Official US Military Twitter Account sanctions that the guns of the US military be turned on you and I.

I’ve been harping on the idea of secession, but let’s face it: it’s the only way out for us. The walls are closing in, and it’s going to be very, very bad, very very soon.

Lucifer Morningstar in reply to TheFineReport.com. | March 13, 2021 at 7:25 pm

I’ve been harping on the idea of secession . . .

Yes, you have been harping on that subject for far too long. And I wish you’d just stop it. Stop it now.

There is no way any state can successfully secede from the Union. The minute any one state or group of states tries to secede the federal government will respond with an overwhelming military response that will make the last time some states got uppity look like a cake walk in the park. Don’t doubt it. Biden will blindly invoke the Insurrection Act, declare any state that has declared secession in rebellion and under insurrectionist control, and then move in the troops with orders to do what is necessary to bring the rebellious states back under control, and that will be it. All that will remain to do is install the puppet governments in the conquered states and the show trials and executions of the traitors and it’s over and done with.

And don’t whine to me about the Constitution. The regime currently in charge doesn’t give a rat’s a** about the Constitution and will do anything necessary to stay in power. It’s way too late to worry about the walls closing in. They’ve closed and there is nothing, absolutely nothing, we can do to change that.

I agree with you – in part. You overestimate the ability of the federal government to enslave the nation with military troops. You underestimate the resolve of 75m + people, most of them armed. You also underestimate the patriotism of our military people – most of whom come from the very place that would seek to secede. (You think they’ll start shooting their own families and friends?)

In any event, all you are saying will indeed come true – in time, and without a whimper from us. I’d rather start the discussions now, then try and do it when there is no Internet, and when every form of mass communication available to us now will be cut.

You are right in that there will be a very serious reaction. But you are wrong about you opposition to the idea: when we look back a very short time from now, we’ll wish and wish and wish we began the effort when we had a chance.

I think that you are right that we will look back and wonder what we could have/should have done. But secession is not the answer; what happens? What states go where and which blue chunks (i.e. big cities) hold up the whole thing. There is not way to fix this by getting out, unless we literally leave for Australia or wherever there is some semblance of liberty. We have to fight this here, and we have to defeat it here. How we do that . . . that’s the real question.

Brave Sir Robbin in reply to Fuzzy Slippers. | March 14, 2021 at 2:29 pm

“Australia or wherever there is some semblance of liberty.>”

I am not sure Australia has a semblance of liberty anymore.

Secession is not going to happen, but I find it refreshing that he’s not bashing dead people, people a decade or more out of political power, or Trump appointees for a change.

I don’t agree with secession. Move to a red state, but fight from there. Identify the most dangerous traitors, then eliminate them. Let Antifa/BLM atteck patriots, but be prepared. Deadly force is legal in defense of third parties, in all states. As this goes on, militias will proliferate. We need to, as Ben Franklin published in cartoon form, Join, or Die.

I sure hope Gov. Noem can hold an alternate fireworks display and include the “TRUMP” fireworks like the former President did in Washington. Troll level – out of the Universe!
