Researchers at Harvard Medical School Say Reparations Necessary to Fight COVID

“estimated that such payments would cost up to $12 trillion”

Isn’t it interesting how the left keeps coming up with new ways to use COVID to advance their agenda?

The Washington Free Beacon reports:

Harvard Docs Say Trillions in Reparations Needed to Address COVID

Researchers at Harvard Medical School say they’ve found the key to reducing coronavirus infections in the black community: trillions of dollars’ worth of reparations.

A study published last week in the Social Science & Medicine journal found that paying $250,000 in reparations to individual descendants of slaves, or $800,000 per family, could have mitigated coronavirus transmission rates among black Americans. The Harvard study analyzes the effects of “pre-intervention” reparations—or payments if they had existed before the coronavirus pandemic—on COVID-19 contact rates and transmission of the virus.

Dr. Michelle Morse—one of the Harvard Medical School assistant professors who led the study—told the Harvard Crimson that reparations “could have been as effective” at combating the coronavirus in African-American communities as a vaccine. Duke University professor William Darity, an economist and reparations advocate who co-authored the Harvard study, recently estimated that such payments would cost up to $12 trillion.

The Harvard team’s research was conducted as part of the Lancet Commission on Reparations and Redistributive Justice, which is expected to release a full report on worldwide reparations this summer.

The study was published days before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties held a hearing on H.R. 40, a bill that would establish a reparations task force to study the lasting effects of slavery and segregation and “recommend appropriate remedies.” More than 170 Democrats have cosponsored the bill, which has gained traction since Democrats took control of Congress in January.

Harvard becomes a bigger joke with each passing week.

Dr. Morse is an academic internist, the newly-crowned Chief Medical Officer for the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (an office, by the way, that had never been seen as needed before) and a rapidly rising star in social justice and “anti-racism” circles. It is neither surprising nor all that interesting that she is being quoted as favoring reparations, and there is no indication at all that the “study” is anything more than an exercise in phantom numerology. Lancet is even more of a joke than Harvard.

You’ll have to forgive me if I’m slow, but what exactly is the purported causal mechanism by which giving money to people solely because of their race leads to a reduced rate of infections?

A virus actually knows how much money you have? That is one smart virus!

It’s ever bit as logical and believable as viruseses that spread only after curfew hours.

There is a certain logical flaw here. If you want to spend taxpayer dollars toward mitigating COVID-19, there are more targeted ways of spending the money than making “individual descendants of slaves” the funding criteria. How about have a COVID-19 positive person in your family? How about awarding $5,000 to every American who listened to the Trump Administration and did not wear a mask as a result (regardless of whether they caught COVID-19 or not?)

Reparations? Reparations have been made; it was called Liberia.

And affirmaive action and food stamps and section 8 and welfare and quotas and race-normed test scores and reduced-grade college admissions and…

Is Harvard just handing out degrees to anyone who walks in off the street? Their studies and opinions contain more garbage with each passing day.

I’d be much more likely at this point to hire a community college grad than a Harvard one….

So, we have an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School, and an economist and reparations advocate at Duke co-authoring a study as part of the Lancet Commission on Reparations and Redistributive Justice. Is anyone surprised at the conclusions reached by these race-hustlers that “reparations” were the answer for Covid-19? These are the same kind of people who believe that the temperature of the planet can be controlled by giving money to government.

Huh! We could have defeated the COVID scam by giving black people cash? Wow, I was way off. I thought unicorn farts and pixie dust were the cure. Those Harvard people are smart.
