Was it worth it, Gov. Andrew Cuomo? Your COVID-19 nursing home order and hiding the real numbers are breaking down your walls.
Cuomo ranted and raved during his Friday press conference. Then the NY Assembly GOP prepared the impeachment process, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) supports an investigation, and an assemblywoman shared messages she received from people who claimed Cuomo bullied them.
The Assembly Republican Conference plans to introduce a bill to form a bipartisan impeachment commission. The lawmakers will examine “the state’s method of administration and conduct in all matters relating to nursing homes and long-term care facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
The commission has 60-days to gather information and present its case on impeachment.
New York Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay (R-Oswego) told Fox News:
“I don’t know how close we are to impeachment, but, what we are calling for is an impeachment commission, a bipartisan commission made up of eight members – four Republicans, four Democrats – to investigate if there were any crimes committed by the governor with his cover-up of the nursing home deaths in New York State,” Assemblyman Will Barclay told “The Faulkner Focus” on Friday.Barclay said the bipartisan impeachment commission would have “60 days to investigate and then give the report to the state legislature.””And if there’s something there, the assembly can move for articles of impeachment. All you need is a majority vote to do that. And then it would go to the Senate or a trial where they would need a two-thirds vote,” Barclay said.
New York lawmakers have been demanding an investigation into the nursing home deaths.
On Wednesday, reports came out of the FBI, and the U.S. attorney in Brooklyn already has an investigation going into Cuomo’s administration.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez joined a chorus of New York lawmakers demanding an investigation into Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s handling of nursing homes during the coronavirus pandemic.The New York Democrat said in a statement: “I support our state’s return to co-equal governance and stand with our local officials calling for a full investigation of the Cuomo administration’s handling of nursing homes during COVID-19. Thousands of vulnerable New Yorkers lost their lives in nursing homes throughout the pandemic. Their loved ones and the public deserve answers and transparency from their elected leadership, and the Secretary to the Governor’s remarks warrant a full investigation.”
Welcome to the party, pal. But better late than never. Granted, when blood is in the water, politicians are eager to snack on the weak.
But still. I’m glad that people are finally waking up.
Assemblyman Ron Kim told The New York Post this week about Cuomo calling him last weekend and going full-on mob mode. Cuomo threatened to ruin and destroy Kim.
NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio calls it “classic Andrew Cuomo.”
Then Cuomo trashed NYC:
Democratic Assemblywoman Yuh-Line Niou tweeted that people have filled her texts, DMs, and email with their stories of Cuomo bullying them.
Cuomo screamed at Rep. Tom Reed (R-NY) in 2017:
“I’ve never seen something like it,” Reed (R-N.Y.) said in an interview. “I’ve heard about the wrath and his anger, and that was the one time where I received it personally.”It was 2017 and Republicans in Congress were pushing through a tax overhaul with significant implications for New York. The Democratic governor was incensed about the bill — particularly its cap on the federal deduction for state and local taxes, a provision that remains a perpetual target of Cuomo’s ire — and was lobbying hard for the congressional delegation to oppose it.Reed, who backed the legislation, said Cuomo’s anger seared itself in his memory for how over the top it was, tattering their professional relationship since.“That leadership gets old,” he said. “I think people — New Yorkers — get sick of it.”
