Biden-Induced Border Crisis, Where COVID Meets Catch-And-Release

Biden-Induced Border Crisis, Where COVID Meets Catch-And-Release

NY Times: “The prospect of large numbers of migrants entering the country during a pandemic could create a strong public backlash for Mr. Biden”

https://twitter.com/aflores/status/979695729445715968

Before Joe Biden even took office, DHS reported a surge in illegal border crossings in anticipation of his presidency.  Since taking office, Biden has been busily undoing President Trump’s border and illegal immigration policy, effectively opening our borders in the midst of a global pandemic.

In addition to halting deportations and abolishing Trump’s “remain in Mexico” policy,  Biden has reinstated the disastrous Obama-era ‘catch and release’ travesty and hamstrung ICE to the point that one official said that Biden has effectively “abolish[ed] ICE without abolishing ICE.”

None of this is a surprise since Biden ran—in part—on an open borders agenda, but there is a giant COVID donkey in the room.  Even the left is questioning the wisdom and impact on public health of rashly opening the borders to thousands of migrants in the midst of the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic.

Even the New York Times is expressing concern.

President Biden’s first immigration crisis has already begun as thousands of families have surged toward the southwestern border in recent weeks, propelled by expectations of a friendlier reception and by a change in Mexican policy that makes it harder for the United States to expel some of the migrants.

More than 1,000 people who had been detained after crossing have been released into the country in recent days in a swift reversal from the Trump administration’s near shutdown of the border. Many more people are gathering on the Mexican side, aggravating conditions there and testing America’s ability and willingness to admit migrants during a pandemic.

New families every day have been collecting in Mexican border towns, sleeping in the streets, under bridges and in dry ditches, according to lawyers and aid groups working along the border. On Thursday in Mexicali, across from Calexico, Calif., desperate migrants could be seen trying to scale a border fence. A migrant camp in Matamoros, Mexico, just across a bridge from Texas, has boomed to 1,000 people over the past few weeks.

. . . . The prospect of large numbers of migrants entering the country during a pandemic could create a strong public backlash for Mr. Biden as his administration takes steps to undo the strict policies put into place by his predecessor.

The disregard for the pandemic that has so radically changed American society and destroyed the businesses and lives of so many Americas over the past year is not going unnoticed . . . except by White House press secretary Jen Psaki who apparently has no idea if the migrants are even being tested for Wuflu before being released into our country.

The Biden-inspired assault on our borders has reached “crisis levels,” with apparently no regard at all to the potential impact on public health or on American jobs.

And just think, we are only in week three of Biden’s “America Last” presidency.

So if I fail my covid test at the resort in Cancun, I can just head west and jump the fence.

Helpful hints: Pretend that you don’t speak English and have no useful skills, so that you’d be an immediate welfare case. A few gang tattoos might also help. If you can fake a criminal record, so much the better.

“The disregard for the pandemic that has so radically changed American society and destroyed the businesses and lives of so many Americas …”

The pandemic didn’t do those things. They resulted from decisions by the deep state and its allies to wreck the economy and destroy people’s lives in order to crush the peasants’ rebellion against their power and privilege.

We have a pandemic every year, with seasonal flu. We do not close the global society or the global economy. Now that we are over a year into the Kung Flu, we have not seen the 2 million casualties predicted, even with the padding of death statistics. The COVID virus has turned out to be a nothing burger. And our leaders know this. They can keep playing the COVID card, or the swamp America with illegal immigrants, who they will fast track to citizenship, in the hope that they will vote liberal-Progressive in the future. Guess which they are going to ultimately choose.

With regard to that particular model on Covid deaths you clearly haven’t understood the parameters for that model. It was a worst case scenario based on the US and the population at large doing literally nothing. So of course it would be wrong given people made there own behavioural adjustments, as hoc mask use etc.

And stop comparing covid to the flu. That’s just utter crap.

      mailman in reply to mark311. | February 8, 2021 at 8:57 am

Yeah Mac, how dare you compare the Chinese Death Kooties to the flu…an illness that you have a similar chance of dying from compared to the Chinese Death Kooties.

      Mac45 in reply to mark311. | February 8, 2021 at 11:32 am

Of course I understand the “parameters” of the initial model, which predicted 2 million deaths in the US. It was, at best, a guess based upon limited information. But, it was used as the basis for wholly unprecedented draconian social restrictions which essentially destroyed a burgeoning Global economy.

Now let’s take a look at social distancing and mask wearing. A year after the big Kung Flu scare began, we are still debating how well masks work or if they work at all. the same with social distancing. The most telling data point is grocery stores at the beginning of the pandemic. Mask wearing was discouraged and it is literally impossible to have meaningful social distancing in a grocery store. So, nearly the entire population of the US was herded into these enclosed spaces. Guess what? There were very few cases of COVID, or even COVID-related, illnesses and deaths attributed to these locations. And, this was during the peak of the seasonal influenza season. So, here we are a year later and public health officials and politicians are now convinced that masks, social distancing and the destruction of the world economy have saved us all.

Mask wearing is like that old joke, where a man sees another man, in Times Square, wearing an elephant tail bracelet. When asked why he is wearing it, the man says to keep wild elephants away. The first man looks at him in shock and says, “There isn’t a wild elephant within 6000 miles of us.” The other man smiles and says, “See how well it works?”

That’s the COVID response for ya.

        mark311 in reply to Mac45. | February 8, 2021 at 2:36 pm

No, the data doesn’t support your hypothesis at all. Given the high rates of transmission, the ad hoc mask wearing, poorly implimented social distancing measuring how exactly are you reaching your conclusion with regard to detail social distancing as your example?

There is a lot of data internationally for social distancing and mask wearing. So yes there is data that plausibly supports mask wearing.

I can understand why you get get this mixed up though the US hasn’t had a consistent policy at all so that makes the data analysis very difficult. If you take the UK example you had relatively clear guidelines in the first lockdown which had a measurably impact. This included allowance of people wearing masks in shopping centres. Breaking down the contribution of each conponant is a challenge true but empirically the data supports mask wearing.

          Mac45 in reply to mark311. | February 8, 2021 at 6:20 pm

“…but empirically the data supports mask wearing.”

Actually, it does not. The problem is in the definitions used. What constitutes a “mask”. Are we speaking of N95 masks, which are quasi-viral filters? Are we talking about single layer bandanas, which do not even filter aerosol droplets? Or something in between? Then we have the problem of how masks are being worn. Most, worn by non-medical personnel, gap at the side, preventing a good seal and allowing contaminants to enter and escape. Of course, the single layer fabric masks [bandanas] do not even stop aerosol particles from penetrating the fabric. So, where is your empirical science as applied to real world conditions?

Now, social distancing will work to curtail the spread of an aerosol borne virus. If it is taken to extremes. There has to be virtually NO contact of any kind at anytime for it to be effective. We still saw transmission in countries which installed extreme social distancing restrictions. The same with mask wearing.

But, the effectiveness of these procedures is all based on the elephant bracelet in Times Square. It sounds reasonable, until you look at it a little closer. In the US, we have seen transmission rates remain the same between those areas with relaxed mask and distancing restrictions and those with much more extreme restrictions. In fact, we have seen transmission rates higher in the areas with more extreme restrictions. So, either the theory is incorrect or there is some other factor, or factors, involved, which impacts the transmission and infection rate.

The grocery store illustration is interesting. If the theory is accurate, and the Kung Flu is as infectious and deadly as hyped, then we should have seen a huge spike in the early days of the pandemic, which could be easily traced back to grocery store patrons and employees. This did not happen.

See, the problem is that the medical and scientific community did the unthinkable, they invented a theory and then massaged the data in n attempt to prove it was true. Unfortunately, as more data surfaces and is ACCURATELY analyzed, we see that the theory was not proven viable. Yet, we continue to impose restrictions; masks, distancing, shutting down the economy, travel restrictions, etc.; which have not been proven to be effective. This is not science, it is witch doctoring. Next we will be shaking rattles over people, chanting and having bears walk over their supine bodies to cure them.

All of this would be only an interesting condition, except for the long-term damage being done to the global economy, society in general and individuals in particular. The economy is still all but shut down. Testing protocols and classifications are still being padded. Death rates are still being padded. All to keep people convinced that the COVID virus is a serious threat. Why is that, do you suppose?

A little advice, mark311: avoid being a patronizing prig. Trolls should either flame or at least offer more than, “you poor ignorant moron, let me tell you what I heard on MSNBC, CNN, and other approved news sources.” Like that’s “news” to anyone here. We know the leftist line, we understand it fully, and we reject it for reasons noted here by Mac and throughout by other commenters.

Your “you clearly haven’t understood . . . ” and “I can understand why you get get this mixed up” condescension is not only grating but (frankly) laughable. The only one mixed up and lacking in understanding here is you. As Mac in this thread, and others in every other thread, makes abundantly clear.

Talking down to people only works when you are actually, in any way, above them. You are a troll and therefore below everyone else commenting here, add in your reliance on fake news, your inability to think critically, and your inability to do more than drip disdain and assert that the lies you spew are “true. Because. So there!,” and you are hardly in a position to sneer at people like Mac (who, in his sleep, can think circles around you on your best day).

Bring them all, by the bus load, trains, planes and deliver them unto Capitol Hill, with at least 1,000 Obamigrants to each congressmonsters address of record.

Schumer’s residence(s) can surely accommodate thousands of new neighbors.

There should be at least 10,000 daily visitors to Ilhan’s office(s) where they can learn all they need to know to become great Americans, AOC-Americans, Ayanna-mericans, Sheldon Whitehouse-Americans.

Truth be know, Ted Nugent could probably feed them all and show the willing the way to do the right thing to succeed in places that offer nothing more than failure, like Detroit, Philly, Los Angeles.

    “Sheldon Whitehouse-Americans.”

Sorry. Had a mental flash of somebody dumping a buttload of these immigrants in Providence. The residents would probably assume they were just more Portuguese.

Biden-Harris, doing their best to make Benedict Arnold look like a patriot.

ronk in reply to FOAF. | February 8, 2021 at 1:49 am

just your information, Benedict Arnold was, was an american hero, he was responsible for the colonials winning the battle of Saratoga, and he devise the west point defenses, what make him turn traitor I don’t know. but these arseholes will never messure up to him before he turned traitor. If you’re ever in the Saratoga area the state park there has a plaque honoring the leg he lost at the battle of saratoga

alaskabob in reply to ronk. | February 8, 2021 at 2:15 am

All of his sacrifice for the Revolution was always ignored or given to someone else such as at Saratoga. He was severely wounded but kept his leg. Bitterness was his doenfall. If he had not turned he would have been second only to Washington. That position rests with Greene.

When America becomes just like Mexico this will no longer be a problem.

henrybowman in reply to JHogan. | February 7, 2021 at 10:49 pm

Actually, the way AMLO has been cheerleading Trump lately, it’s conceivable we may end up actually being worse than Mexico.

I really enjoyed the Forbes tweet.
Apparently, Psaki holds press conferences so that the PRESS can tell HER what Biden is doing.

the wuhan virus is overwhelming everything, no one talks about the other diseases that are coming from the southern border, like treatment resistant TB

It is demonstrably stupid to allow immigration at all in the current situation. Stupid.

Diversity [dogma] is a first order forcing of [catastrophic] [anthropogenic] immigration reform. Emigration reform to mitigate progress of immigration reform and collateral damage at both ends of the bridge and throughout. A wall to reduce smuggling, trafficking, social progress (e.g. pedophilia, rape-rape), children in cages, and the trail of tears across harsh terrain. Well designated checkpoints to facilitate safety assessments and credible claims to asylum and visitation rights.

Some, Select Black… American Lives Matter. National and international diversity (e.g. color supremacism), not limited to racism, is a legacy of the communist-socialist-fascist axis of left-wing sects. That, and wicked solutions.

“The prospect of large numbers of migrants entering the country during a pandemic could create a strong public backlash for Mr. Biden….”
SNORT!
What MSM outlet will even report this news? No news, no backlash.
Even if there were a backlash, it would have no effect on the occupant of the WH.
