The Department of Justice said it will not press charges against President Donald Trump and other speakers at the Save America Rally, which proceeded the riot at Capitol Hill.

From CNBC:

President Donald Trump is not expected to be criminally charged with inciting a riot at the U.S. Capitol, a Department of Justice official said Friday, just a day after the top federal prosecutor in the District of Columbia did not rule out charging Trump.

“We don’t expect any charges of that nature,” the official said Friday during a conference call with reporters when asked if the DOJ was considering charges against speakers at a rally for Trump right before Wednesday’s riot.

Trump, his lawyer Rudy Giuliani, and the president’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., all spoke at the rally, which focused on their bogus claims that Joe Biden only won the presidential election through ballot fraud in multiple states.

Another DOJ official said that at this point the federal investigation is focused solely on criminal acts at the Capitol building.

I’m reading Trump’s speech at the rally and it’s the same old, same old that he has said at every rally since November 3rd.

Well no, the people who rioted are responsible. Tens of thousands of others did not.

Does anyone know a reliable number of crowd size besides Gateway Pundit…like maybe the Park Service?

The breach of the Congress should put any rational Democrat on alert. Start Stalinist tyranny and oppression and what happened on Jan 6 will look like a picnic. The Democrats have used violence to intimidate the Judiciary .
For the first time they know that violence could be used against them. Hopefully the fear of that might keep them from going into full fascist mode. Knowing the Democrats, I think few will get the message until its too late.

I estimated that it was at least a million. The largest crowd I have seen since the Viet Nam war protests, for sure.

DOJ hasn’t charged anyone for anything outside a Trump supporter it makes you wonder exactly what’s up

JusticeDelivered | January 8, 2021 at 8:13 pm

I don’t believe DOJ, Biden-Harris will try to force this.

That was my first thought when I read the headline.

Beijing Biden’s DOJ will target Trump for the next four years.

The Southern DIstrict of NY has dibs on him.

I disagree. If you wait even a few months to target Trump, then it looks like political retribution and a diversionary tactic when the race riots resume and the economy buckles under the weight of the Biden* administration’s onslaught and the Wuflu lockdowns.

Trump is their Emmanuel Goldstein. They must have an Emmanual Goldstein. They must keep their Emmanual Golstein front and center as evil incarnate in the minds of the sheeple.

The GOPe, at least 60-70% of elected Republicans, will either overtly collaborate in the effort or sit silently on the sidelines.

For the record, I wasn’t the one who downvoted your post.

Possibly one of the trolls trying to make trouble.

They will prosecute him for something, just not this. They are Democrats it’s what they do.

I don’t believe that there would be no charges against Trump either. Criminal charges could be an easy win, at least initially, for prosecutors. Trump would be dealing with a kangaroo court, a la Sullivan, DC prosecutors, and a DC kangaroo jury. It could result in a conviction on serious charges, or at the least result in Trump being humiliated and tied up with the case for years. Don’t underestimate just how unfair the process would be. Trump should consider a pardon.

Oh how F–king merciful. Our betters deign to NOT prosecute people in a naked, unjustified political witch hunt without grounds in the cited law of Sedition. This time

For now.

Do you feel free or safe yet?

Especially when you compare this to the likes of Harris, AOC, and so on rahing on the rioters?

“Our betters deign to NOT prosecute people in a naked, unjustified political witch hunt without grounds in the cited law of Sedition. This time”

Is that what you got out of that? All I see is them claiming that “inciting a riot” in particular is off the table. That really doesn’t say squat about squat.

Turtler in reply to henrybowman. | January 8, 2021 at 8:49 pm

A fair point. There’s also the fact that this is just the DOJ, and as others pointed out there are still the rabid scum from the New York DA and others that are likely to try.

“President Donald Trump is not expected to be criminally charged with inciting a riot at the U.S. Capitol, a Department of Justice official said Friday, just a day after the top federal prosecutor in the District of Columbia did not rule out charging Trump.” They forgot to add the part where they say…”at this time. We will wait until after the new attorney general is sworn in to convict and jail Mr. Trump”

I’m just a little old retired southern lady, but to me that was a historic, never-before-seen patriotic protest in DC. Riot? Not hardly. It didn’t come close to the destruction and violence going on in riots all summer long in cites from sea to shining sea to which certain local, state, and federal government officials turned a blind eye. They called those riots “peaceful protests”… bless their hearts.

JHogan in reply to Melinda. | January 8, 2021 at 9:11 pm

If the 500,000 people who attended the rally actualy ‘rioted’ the results would have been much different.

In reality a small minority, maybe a few hundred, overwhelmed a handful of cops to enter the Capital building. Breaking a few windows in the process. Which terrified the polticians who keep voting to send America’s youth off to die in endless wars.

Saw a photo of a guy wearing a fur horned hat waving an American flag in the Senate chamber. He’s going to prison.

Saw a photo of DC on fire at night on May 31. The people who did that are not going to prison. In fact, Biden and the Lefties sanctioned it.

What that implies and what it means should be obvious to anyone with a functioning brain.

SEAshelllady in reply to Melinda. | January 8, 2021 at 10:44 pm

I too am a “little, old lady”, Melinda–and I am ashamed of where our country is right now as far as our personal freedoms are concerned. President Donald J. Trump was the most productive, valiant, gutsy POTUS we have had in my lifetime–and I am proud to say I voted for him in 2016 (and stayed up all night until 2:30 A.M. to see Hilary’s campaign manager concede the election to Trump) and also voted for him in this debacle of a 2020 election. God Bless Donald J. Trump–yes…he has his peculiarities–but don’t we all. His leadership skills are remarkable and his courage is undeniable. The rioters were a miniscule small group compared to the almost ONE MILLION citizens who participated in this support for Trump and to protest the fraud that occurred in the election. Dirty Joe will NEVER be my President–never!!

Would the family of a dead police officer agree with you. No.

      mailman in reply to mark311. | January 9, 2021 at 10:04 am

Why don’t you ask David Dorn’s family how they feel.

        mark311 in reply to mailman. | January 9, 2021 at 10:20 am

Two wrongs don’t make a right. What’s his death got to do with the poor man in the Capitol? David Dorns death was wrong as was Brian Sicknick. Those responsible should be held to account. Referencing another crime is irrelevant. Pretending that the events in DC werent shameful and stupid is deluded.

Don’t believe it! They’ll bring charges after PDJT is not in office, and not in a position to pardon anyone.

Goddamn Joe Biden. May the Defraudment of Justice become his constant companion. As with Satan, the father of all lies, now come the servants of perdition.

It would be so delightful to wake up and read obituaries for Biden, Schumer, Pelosi…. and a legion of others.

Shovel ready projects, ahoy.

2smartforlibs | January 8, 2021 at 9:12 pm

Now that he’s run out of office what threat is he other than he knows where every one of those low lives hid the bodies. It’s the rest of us that should be worried. My states wanting to charge anyone in Washington yesterday with a crime if they were at the capital or not.

It seems odd. The DOJ gets its crime intelligence from the news.

Subotai Bahadur | January 8, 2021 at 9:27 pm

After the illegitimate administration is fully installed, THEN they will start charging people with Thoughtcrime and Anti-Democrat Activities.

Subotai Bahadur

They already do. Recall Feminism’s caricature of men and boys, women and girls, and couples. Rape… rape-rape culture, and #MeToo which spectacularly imploded, to secure reproductive rites. The Rainbow of inclusion exclusive of black, brown, and featuring a gay pride in the shredded remains of white. Diversity [dogma] (i.e. color judgment) that denies individual dignity, individual conscience, intrinsic value, and normalizes color blocs, color quotas, and affirmative discrimination. And, of course, the wicked solution under the Pro-Choice quasi-religion (“ethics”) to abort and sequester the carbon remains, and or cannibalize lives deemed unworthy or profitable. Social progress. Social justice. Characteristically leftist.

So all presidents get lifelong secret service protection right? How would that work if he is sentenced to jail?

A safe bet is around half a million assembled. And several hundred, perhaps, who may or may not be “Trump supporters”, in the capital. One killed, one medical death, and several medical emergencies.

It’s hypocritical to say “mostly peaceful protests” about burning down a civilian’s place of business and a church next to the white house, while calling it Armageddon when people enter a place of politics to express anger at their representative.

Its even worse to coddle the violent ones burning down and threatening civilian’s all the while saying we must address their grievances and then refusing to even consider to look at the grievances of the other group.

Saying this is the same as saying it is ok for terrorists to target civilians but not ok to target politicians and armed forces, our representatives on the night of the 6th said it is ok to declare war on innocent people just going about their daily lives but it is unacceptable to make them feel uncomfortable.

Think about that for a minute. These people cowered behind armed guards, killed an unarmed protester in cold blood and were the same ones saying we had to reach out an olive branch to the people burning our cities and threatening our homes and places of business.
These are the same people saying

https://www.facebook.com/lindsey.simmons.31/videos/10223547353099160

These people are the epitome of hypocrisy.

One protestor is dead ?shot by police) and one officer is dead (assaulted with a fire extinguisher). Everyone who. Rome into the building is theoretically chargeable with felony murder.

    Bullshit!

    dmi60ex in reply to BobM. | January 9, 2021 at 11:22 am

    My question.
Why ,when one side of the Capitol is being attacked by a group of.unknown motives and objectives and they trying to breach barricades ,
were they letting and ushering in peaceful and substantial crowds on the other side .Journalist Susan Ferrecio walked in invited has video of people roaming.
Is the Capitol Police this incompetent.Did they put innocent protesters at risk of violent protesters?
Why when the police were playing bump.and grind weave and woke with protesters to get by did.they not order onlookers to depart.?

I did believe that Officers showed restraint inside as I did not see any in her video that connected with nightsticks.
And most of the protesters did not appear to be trying to hurt the officers.
Good bit of pushing and shoving few fist hits on the video I watched.

The other thing I don’t get one station said he had died of a stroke and his family did not want it to be politicized .
Other that he died of his injuries.
No.these two stories are not mutually exclusive but it just seemed strange and I find in the era of Trump.everything is strange.

Also for the legal beagles what are the elements of inciting a riot as opposed to impassioned protected speech.??

And what if they knew the other possibly violent group was entering and they let the passive group in to increase the dastardly Trump.voters to be arrested

      mark311 in reply to dmi60ex. | January 10, 2021 at 7:37 am

Answering your question re the police officers death. The statements seem to indicate that he suffered injuries due to the protestors and then later had complications. All very vague ATM so hard to say exactly what happened at this stage.

No charges “of that nature.” Good, nor should there be. But, I can’t tell if Mary Chastain is happy or disappointed, which I guess is the way it should be; she’s merely ‘reporting,’ we’re ‘deciding.’ Right? Neither would I bet a plugged nickel that the DoJ is finished investigating president Trump in behalf of the expanded, nation-wide deep state’s hate filled, never ending search for charges of some “nature” to indict, prosecute, and jail him for. If the DoJ, Supreme Court, states, and MSM had been even slightly as interested and “outraged” about anything that has transpired over the past (fill in the blank) ______ years involving untold legions of others except Trump, none of this would have happened. None. But, from tax- or fee-funded Obamacare, okay’d wire taps, to fraud-free elections all across the country, we know all these things are true because the DoJ has approved (or declared them to be none of its business), crack teams from the FBI have relentlessly investigated, and numerous ‘judges’ having pondered the evidence and testimony – secretly and in the open – have declared it so. Right.

Anyone not at the very least deeply concerned about recent events regarding censorship and attempted censorship of ideas outside of an approved orthodoxy is a fool. A fool in the most dangerous sense of that word. A small but real right wing has learned to communicate outside of Twitter, et.al., for years or to communicate in code words/ideas. A much larger and seemingly well-funded far left has been permitted to communicate in a shockingly open manner and that trend continues.

What is being missed by our elites is manifest to those who have studied history. When an overly monolithic establishment is perceived to fail citizens will look for other ideas and solutions. By driving any dissenting ideas to the margins those ideas often evolve in a dangerous and unchecked manner, on both the left and right. And btw, even now there exists a surprising (and ignored) intersection in the beliefs of radical thought on both ends of the spectrum. A major challenge, e.g., an economic downturn that creates large numbers of unemployed and underemployed will find those who lose faith in the establishment looking elsewhere for answers. The creation of a monolithic and literally oppressive political establishment is a recipe for radicalizing dissent. These things have an unfortunate tendency to not end well.

They know that they don’t care ,they won today .
Anyone with sense.knows free flow of ideas is just as .important as the free unrestricted flow of goods and the market flow of ideas will produce a dividend to those with superior ideas.

These are dark times.. bewildering.. So the DOJ will not charge people for something.. ok.. but Nanshee is writing up impeachment papers.

I wonder if they will have another parade as the carry the pages from the House to the Senate.

Personally I hope our VSGPotus pulls the pin.. I hope he does, but I also acknowledge that is magical thinking. I do have serious cognitive dissonance.

TY Mary, I appreciate your post, I did not see his speech as anything that extraordinary… Certainly not rising to the level of raising a riot.

Hopefully one of the Democrats who have good political instincts will talk them down off.that ledge.I would think Bill would know this is an act that has zero chance .I think Turtle would just schedule it to end on 22nd.Thats a no win hot potato for him.

      dmi60ex in reply to dmi60ex. | January 9, 2021 at 11:41 am

I would think they would just take their.stolen election ,lay low ,and run out the clock.
Donald Trump.has exposed more of the establishment pettiness and corruption and brought out insanity more than, I don’t know, its just not.explainable.

When will he declassify everything? It’s getting late.

Even more GOP legislators on piling on Trump. They must think that there is less damage by virtue signalling than internal damage from Trump’s major part of the party being stepped on.

Leftists dolt from Utah who entered the Capitol and was very close to Ashli Babbitt when she got shot was arrested and released without charges. Seems about right to me. The fix is in for those who egged on the protesters to enter the building.

I am sorry….when I remember the ugly lies and false accusations of the Kavanaugh hearings or the Dems calling others tyrants…or passing laws that erode this country…calling the Capitol the temple of Democracy is a bit much. We are about to see a ruling party really transform this country while spouting more lies and false accusations. Such a religious experience….The Temple of Hypocracy.
