Hey, if “Jesus was a Palestinian,” maybe the Marines on Mount Suribachi were also.
Did you hear the one about Jesus being Palestinian? It’s not true, not even close, not even in the same universe as truth, but it’s part of the Pallywood industry of fakery and cultural misappropriation that we have documented for a decade, and which has been adopted by some in the U.S., such as Senate candidate Raphael Warnock.
Nothing is sacred when it comes to rewriting history, but I have to admit, this one is particularly absurd.
Joe Truzman, who covers Palestinian Gaza-based terror groups for the Long War Journal, has tweeted an image posted by the Palestinian Joint Operations Room, the Gaza coordinating group uniting numerous terror groups preparing for combat against Israel.
The poster portrays the raising of a flag by Palestinian fighters, replicating the iconic image of the raising of the U.S. flag at Mount Surabachi on Iwo Jima by U.S. Marines.
The original image appears to come from the Palestine Information Center, a Gaza-based propaganda outfit:

Why isn’t it a good move? I agree it is a tasteless appropriation of the sacrifice of our marines. What I don’t get is why would they care if they piss off marines with this picture? What is the downside for them?
I’m not a veteran, but, judging from the Marines that I know personally, they have pissed off the wrong people.

Who cares? The Arab world has been trying to get rid of Israel for 72 years. They have been unsuccessful, despite the backing of most of Europe. The Palestinian liberation groups are now simply a means to funnel money to the leadership of these organizations, who then squirrel it away in France [a la Yasar Arafat]. With their record, if the Palestinian liberation movement were a US football team, it would not only be defunct, but forgotten.
