There is also a non-zero chance of being criminally charged if you defend yourself (see George Zimmerman, Officer Wilson, Kyle Rittenhouse, Mark & Patricia McCloskey).
Some years ago I read a science fiction story (I forgot the title and author) where in order to combat high crime rates anyone who was a victim of a crime could be charged as an accessory. Thus if you were a woman who was raped you could be charged as an accomplice along with your rapist. Needless to say this reduced reported crime rates because victims didn’t dare report what had happened and risk going to jail themselves.

When Pelosi called on Biden to avoid the debates, I thought, “She is conceding the election already!” Surely she knows Biden can’t win without debating. She certainly knows debating will confirm his status as a dotard, likewise resulting in failure. So how does she expect to win? She doesn’t. She expects to seize power.
The “soft coup” failed. The Democrats are now planning a violent takeover; the current riots are merely an overture, a ramping up of the violence so that when it really goes hot it will appear to be an extension and escalation of what has been happening for months. This will make the violence seem “organic” and “grass roots,” when in fact it will be (and has been) part of a plan to first destabilize the country, and then to take advantage of that destabilization.

I think people misunderstood Biden’s “if you don’t vote for me you’re not black” comment. He didn’t mean that you would be kicked out of the blackness club if you don’t vote for him. He meant you will literally stop being black, gay, female, or BIPOC. By virtue of Straka’s support of Trump, he is, by Biden’s definition, incapable of still being gay.
Interesting how this guy’s concern is how whatever he does will be presented in the media.
How about his immediate, individual experience or safety?
It’s amazing how ultra-mediated people’s lives have become.
