Portland, Oregon, has the dubious distinction of being U.S. antifa’s homebase and “ground zero” for violent “protests” that include vandalism, arson, assault, and other assorted crimes.
The violence and takeover of various public spaces by antifa in Portland long pre-dates the George Floyd protests that morphed into a combination of Black Lives Matter and anarchist riots in cities across the nation.
After seeing leftwing media activists’ “reports” that resulted in such Twitter hashtags as #TrumpGestapo and the Speaker of the House declaring federal officers “Trump’s stormtroopers,” a group of “Portland moms” decided to enter the fray and place themselves between the leftwing terrorists and the federal law enforcement agents deployed to protect federal property from looting, vandalism, and arson.
Friday night, Bev Barnum said she was watching videos on social media from the protest showing people being detained by federal agents.”It didn’t take long for me to find a massive array of video displaying obvious human rights violations,” Barnum told CNN.. . . . Barnum said she told her husband she wanted to help and he suggested a fundraiser.”But I thought I needed to do more so I asked the Portland working moms group to protest with me — to shield the protesters from harm with our ‘mombods,'” she said.Barnum, founder of Wall of Moms, and about 70 other mothers converged onto the protest in downtown Portland, where protesters were gathered outside the federal courthouse. The women stood in the front of the protest line and locked arms to form a human shield. At times they were chanting “Moms are here! Feds stay clear!”
Hailed as heroes on the left, these moms undoubtedly think that protecting alleged criminals against federal law enforcement agents is noble on some level.
And yet . . . .
Their “wall of moms” shield standing between violent anarchists and law enforcement is intended to be meaningful on some sort of emotional level, so why are they partaking in apparently lawless behavior?
Because they can. The media is running interference for them, hailing them as heroes, so of course their lawlessness will not register.
