Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel issued a veiled threat to the Ford Motor Company after it allowed President Donald Trump to remove his mask while touring the facility.
Dana Nessel, a Democrat, told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on “The Situation Room” Thursday, that she would enforce Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s executive order that requires anyone who is medically able to wear a facial covering when in an enclosed space. As a result, Nessel had previously threatened legal action against “any company or any facility that allows him inside those facilities and puts our workers at risk.””I think that we’re going to have to have a very serious conversation with Ford in the event that they permitted the President to be in publicly enclosed places in violation of the order,” Nessel said after Trump flouted the order during the public portion of the tour. “They knew exactly what the order was and if they permitted anyone, even the President of the United States, to defy that order, I think it has serious health consequences potentially to their workers.”
Trump wore a mask during the tour but removed it in front of the press to not give them the satisfaction of seeing him wear one.
Ford said it shared its safety policies with the White House before Trump’s visit. Trump toured the facility because it repurposed itself “to produce ventilators and personal protective equipment.”
Nessel continued:
“I am ashamed to have him be President of the United States of America,” she said.”And I hope that the voters of Michigan will remember this when November comes, that he didn’t care enough about their safety, he didn’t care about their welfare, he didn’t respect them enough just to engage in the very simple task, the painless task, the easy task of wearing a mask when he was provided one.””And so I hope that we’ll have a new president soon enough who does respect people more than this president does,” she continued.
I hope the Michigan voters remember the tyrants who serve as governor and attorney general!
Trump lashed out at Nessel on Twitter, warning her that it’s not a good idea to threaten a corporation that provides jobs in her state. Trump said it in his usual fashion:
Have you been wearing masks? I do. I’m required to wear a mask when I go to physical therapy. It makes you hot and stuffy. My PT and I often have to remove ours at the end in order to talk about future appointments and what to work on at home.
Maybe, just maybe, Trump knows that it’s hard to wear a mask when addressing a large crowd. I mean, if my PT and I have to remove ours for a small conversation, I imagine it’d be next to impossible in front of a crowd.
