Wuhan Virus Watch: Surgeon General Attacked By The Perpetually Offended
Jerome Adams to minority communities: “We need you to do this if not for yourself than for your abuela. Do it for your granddaddy, do it for your big momma, do it for your poppop.”
Good Friday’s Coronavirus Task Force briefing created a fair amount of controversy, and none of it involved the virus.
While President Donald Trump is always the focus of the sessions, Surgeon General Jerome Adams pleas for the African-American community and other communities of color to follow the coronavirus guidelines were met with social justice scorn.
We need you to do this if not for yourself than for your abuela. Do it for your granddaddy, do it for your big momma, do it for your poppop,’ the nation’s top doctor said Friday at the daily coronavirus taskforce briefing – later defending his use of slang.
Adams assured Americans of color that ‘there is nothing inherently wrong with you,’ but ‘social ills’ are likely a contributing factor when looking at the dire statistics that the outbreak has killed twice as many Americans of color.

These terms had PBS correspondent Yamiche Alcindor clutching her pearls.
“There are some people online who are already offended by that language and the idea that behaviors may be leading to these high death rates. Could you, I guess, have a response to those who might be offended by the language you used?” Alcindor asked.
Adams responded, saying that he used vernacular that he uses with his own family members.
“I’ve been meeting with the NAACP, with the National Medical Association. I actually talked with Derek Johnson multiple times this week, the head of the NAACP, and we need targeted outreach to the African American community,” Adams responded. “And I used the language that is used in my family. I have a Puerto Rican brother-in-law. I call my granddaddy, ‘granddaddy.’ I have relatives who call their grandparents, ‘Big Mama.’ So that was not meant to be offensive.”
Most Americans who aren’t invested in social justice antics dismissed Alcindor’s question as another in a long list of failed “gotcha” moments.
US Surgeon General Jerome Adams says black, Latino & other people of color should “avoid alcohol, tobacco and drugs.” “We need you to step up,” he says. – I still don’t see what is wrong with that statement. I guess you’re pissed he didn’t say all races should avoid it.

With all due respect to @Yamiche, the question that she asked today to Surgeon General Jerome Adams is what I’d qualify as “tremenda comemierda” … cough, cough#surgeongeneral #PBS #Yamiche #WuhanVirus #COVIDー19 #PressBriefing #flu #whitehousePressconference #comemierda

I think many people are targeting Surgeon General Adams because of Trump, not what Adams said.
Here is a factual account of his speech — which he directed specifically toward African & Native Americans & Hispanics.
He is not racist. He’s a good man.https://t.co/L6TBGToxsN

Dr. Anthony Fauci: Administration discussing immunity cards for Americans
Meanwhile, Coronavirus Task Force member Dr. Antony Fauci has been stirring up a fair amount of controversy about the issuance of “immunity cards” to help address what is likely to be a continuing response to COVID-19 in the absence of a vaccine.
Anthony Fauci, the nation’s leading infectious disease expert, said it’s possible that in the future Americans may carry documents to prove they are immune or not infected with the coronavirus.
Fauci, who is one of the public health officials on the administration’s coronavirus task force, said such a system is one of several options they are discussing.
“That’s possible,” he said on CNN’s “New Day.”
“It’s one of those things that we talk about when we want to make sure who the vulnerable people are and not,” Fauci added. “This is something that’s being discussed, I think it might actually have some merit.”
Fauci’s idea is not going over terribly well with many liberty-loving Americans who also recognize some practical limitations.
This would be a nightmare. People would be fraudulently making illegal cards. We would waste a lot of time and resources coming up with that process. Just no. NO.

Do they realize that people who are desperate to return to work will go out and get sick so that they can get through it and have the antibodies and get the card? #mtpol #COVID19US #COVID19mt

Bah, Dr Fauci thinks Americans could carry documents “not infected with the coronavirus.” One day, could be tested and the test with 30% false negatives gives a negative reading. Next week they get infected. How often would they have to be tested? Like hookers VD certificates.

President Trump says he will unveil economic comeback task force on Tuesday
Let’s hope the Economic Task Force gets asked more serious and pertinent questions during its briefings.
President Donald Trump said he would unveil the members of his coronavirus economic task force next Tuesday and it will include members of both political parties.
Trump, at his daily White House press briefing on Friday, specifically praised Democratic Governors Gavin Newsom of California and Andrew Cuomo of New York, both of whom he has spoken to often during the coronavirus pandemic.
‘We will be announcing names on Tuesday,’ the president said, noting his task force will include medical experts, members of his administration, business executives and elected officials from both political parties.
Donations tax deductible
to the full extent allowed by law.
Voter ID bad, Corona virus vaccine card good, I get it.
So, another excuse to bring back the old “Papers, please- vhat ist your destination und nature of business?”, eh?? Bet the check would include presenting identification too- but only for citizens ???
What does racist PBS Yamiche Alcindor how to say about that profiling?
It’s a bad idea for the president to continue to take advice from this megalomaniacal little shrimp.
you must be kinda young, a while back if you traveled overseas you needed a vaccination card to show that you were vaccinated against smallpox, yellow fever among others
Maybe, but wasn’t that to fulfill then entry requirements of the particular country you were visiting? Is there any precedent for requiring such a certification for purely internal, domestic travel? And, even if so, it takes more than the whim of a creepy control freak civil servant doctor to impose something like that.
More manufactured outrage, this time by PBS’ Yamiche Alcindor.
Opinion columnists posing as reporters. Pathetic.
that is known as multitasking due to staff cutbacks
If Surgeon General Jerome Adams was working for Hillary Clinton’s administration his comments would have been endearing and wise.
But because he works for a Republican president’s administration, specifically Donald Trump’s, his comments are condescending and racist.
Really. That’s it, cut and dried.
Working for Trump also makes him an Uncle Tom.
She’s a household name now.
The worst part is her salary is paid for by taxpayers, a plethora of leftist foundations, and “viewers like you.”
But mostly taxpayers.
I’ve never had a flu vaccine and have contracted the flu maybe once (if at all) in my adult life. Why would I need an “immunity card”?
Also, the “herd immunity” argument is gaining a lot traction the past few days with Standford and Chicago studies already indicating that it has been happening since at least November/December 2019. THAT seems to be how we will get over this in the near and long term. Our immune systems are already doing their jobs! Why do ANY of us need and “immunity card”?
This reminds me of Three Mile Island where it was determined that the automatic shutdown program would have worked had the scientists not interfered with it. The scientific “experts” got it wrong there too.
Why do ALL of Fauci’s recommendations require that we surrender our constitutional freedoms? Whose side is he on? People get sick! That is why we have immune systems! I’ll bet he’s a vegetarian.
Think about this. Maybe half of us have already been exposed and immunized from the Wuhan virus without contracting it.
Again, why do we need an “immunity card”? I can just see that expanding into a “everything we want to know about you (if you want your freedom) card. No!!!! Let’s talk about the voter ID card instead.
Just for fun I clicked on the Breitbart link and burst out laughing. A “phlebotomist” who is doing Coronavirus testing “in a hospital parking lot” and claims to test 400-600 people per day claims that “30 to 50 percent of those tested” have antibodies. That claim is fascinating for a number of reasons. First, a phlebotomist is a low-level medical technician who simply draws blood. It’s certainly not someone who actually tests that blood for anything. Second, drive through testing sites take nose swabs, they don’t draw blood. I know that because I have a close relative in the IL National Guard who works in such a drive-through testing site. Third, even if blood was drawn, no one technician could possibly draw blood from 300-600 people per day in a parking lot. Fourth, if such an amazing claim was actually legitimate, that information would come from a credible medical expert during an extensively covered media event, not some semi-obscure person spouting off to a local news source. Just because Rush Limbaugh talks about it doesn’t make it proven fact.
Geez. You’re kidding right? She didn’t do all of the test herself! Her job is to test for infected/not infected and whether there are anti-bodies. How hard is it to get the correct results from her samples? And these were people who had symptoms. You live in a very closed world.
I think I’ll go with the smart people like Hanson, Limbaugh and Mark “Slash” Levin who, like me, may not be scientists but we know science when we see it. Science is an alternative belief system that is only useful if good data is plugged into good models. Have any of these “experts” been right about anything so far? Even their methods of designing their models are goofy. People like Hansen, Limbaugh and Levin are not afraid to state the obvious. You try to exclude people out of the conversation. Like the abortionists exclude men from that discussion.
Nope. Not kidding at all. And not trying to silence or exclude anyone; just proving that this phlebotomist’s story is a fraud. It’s not a “ closed world” if one is searching for the truth. I’ve demonstrated that the most she could have been doing is swabbing noses. Antibodies are found in blood, not sputum, so she didn’t even get that basic part right. Perhaps you prefer to get your medical advice from non-medical pundits who can’t even spot a fraud when it’s waving a big red flag. I do it the old-fashioned way by studying credible sources and using my professional medical knowledge to form my opinions. Regardless, I wish you well and hope you and your family stay safe and healthy during these trying times.
That’s what your linked article claims she did. And it’s obviously impossible.
I believe your critique on the Brietbart article is fair. What is interesting is that the source of the Brietbart article is the left wing Chicago City Wire and I can’t imagine the align much with Brietbart.
I share your skepticism. I am not defending the article, BUT not all hospitals run the same way.
A good friend of mine was a Phlebotomist at a local hospital for many years. He not only drew the blood, but ran the tests that weren’t sent out. BMP, CMP, urinalysis, ABG, Troponin, Lipid, liver, thyroid, glucose, A1C etc. We’ve had many conversations about how the testing changed over the years. If you wanted to work there, you had to do it all – because frequently on overnights, there were only 1 or 2 people. So it is technically possible that a “Phlebotomist” would see results.
The type of test she would be talking about would be a specific antibody test. There is one test approved as of April 9 or 10. which was late last week.
(Since that is only 3 days ago, what are the odds Chicago would have this test? I guess they have to test it somewhere.)
There are some 70 other labs and manufacturers working on tests like this. They have to be testing somewhere.
So, I would rate this as possible, but not probable.
Agree with RNJD. The Breitbart article is absurd. I am an MD and test for Covid. There is no blood test accessible outside research facilities currently. This phlebotomist would not have this data. No one has this data.
This is just junk – internet rumors pretending to be facts.
I believe the Stanford “research” was presented by Victor Davis Hanson, who is a military historian, not a medical person, and who is advocating for the economy to be “opened up” – whatever that’s supposed to mean in the middle of a world-wide pandemic. I haven’t located any legitimate medical studies indicating that the Coronavirus has circulated in the U.S. beginning in November/December 2019. Since humans have no natural immunity to this novel virus, if it had spread through populations before the large gatherings associated with Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Years occurred, why would the apex of deaths be occurring now – 6 months later? I hear lots of speculation on this site and others relating to personal experiences with sickness, but none match the world-wide track this virus is taking. Correlation does not imply causation.
You answered your own hypothetical question.
There was that researcher in Seattle who retested a lot of flu samples from before Christmas and found a small but not insignificant number were actually Wuhan. And any deaths before late January would have been assumed to be part of the regular seasonal flu death toll.
Please post a link to this research. I’m tracking this and would appreciate the information.
Try this: https://komonews.com/news/coronavirus/seattle-flu-study-allegedly-tested-samples-for-covid-19-against-federal-state-guidelines
Thank you. Reading the article it sounds like the “normal” flu study samples began to be collected in late 2019, but the article doesn’t specifically state how far back the lab began testing for COVID-19 from the existing samples. (I.e. were they 2019 samples or did they begin with those taken in 2020?) That’s important information and I’ll keep checking this out. Thanks for your help. Stay healthy.
Yes, it is absolutely essential to disallow intelligent people who are have no medical background to logic and reason to this issue. Much better to give medical people and scientists full control of the conversation even though each has their own model through which they run their own data, probably Chinese, to arrive at a very wide spectrum of conclusion, none of which conclude the lower estimate of deaths, to argue for the loss of our constitutional freedoms. Just like with global warming. Scientists are gods. You nailed it. No independent thinking allowed here.
National lock down and shutting down our economy is NOT the only nor the most sensible solution. This kind of logic is how we got into the global warming hoax.
The author wrote, “These terms had PBS correspondent Yamiche Alcindor clutching her pearls.”
Probably a printing error. The correct version read, “These terms had PBS correspondent Yamiche Alcindor clutching her bag of Almond M&Ms.”
You just had to mention almond M&Ms, didn’t you? Mmmm!
Now I want M&M’s.
The problem with the almond M&Ms is that they don’t upset the stomach like the peanut variety, so there is no rate-limiting step, and bad things can happen.
A similar phenomenon is also present with shelled pistachios, so I have heard. 😉
Don’t think of M&Ms!!!!!!!!
Baked into chocolate chip cookies!!!!!!!!!!!!
Darn now I’m hungry……..
This video is a must see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZw1pANXnZs
This nonsense happened last week and goes a long way to explain why some areas may be seeing a disproportionate number of minorities affected by the virus. But heaven forbid the one who talks the truth and presents this for what it is. I doubt Little Rock is the only city that has had Corona Virus Parades.
What really pisses me off is we have a 9pm-5am curfew and our Mayor pleaded with the governor to impose a stay at home order because of this lunacy. The good law abiding responsible citizens will have to be punished because the people who act like this will continue to act like this, law or no law, curfew or no curfew. Is what they’re doing in the video legal anyway?
This is the problem with governments today. Punish everyone because calling out the actions of the few isn’t politically correct. Watch the video, please. Blacks aren’t magically more susceptible to the virus. Idiots are.
Yep, we have a group with different values. short term gain oriented, who ignores law, and lawful directives. That group expects handouts and never takes responsibility for for consequences of their actions. And anytime there is a consequence they claim racism and expect to have their palms greased.
Jerome Adams gave good advice, but they will dismiss it because he is educated and productive. How do we fix a culture of ignorance?
“Johnny and Jimmy misbehaved, so, the entire class will stay after school!”
Wuhan virus obituary:
“Relying on bogus Chinese data to feed our hopelessly flawed models while ignoring alternative models, we experts disregarded common sense and discipline by opting to destroy the economy as a safety precaution. We saw no other option. If a single human life was saved, it was worth it.” ———–Dr Anthony Fauci
Fauci continued to say ” but we continued to hack our agenda. “
And he is still on CNN spewing his “it’s all about me, Trump didn’t listen to me” nonsense. Does anyone doubt whose side he is on? Get rid of him Trump! If all of these “experts” care more about politics than science, find a friendly “expert”.
It is behaviors … * SHRUG * … Like it or not
Leslie, if you see this, I would like to ask, how many models exist in the industry, if there are more than one why is the UW model the one that is always being used?
Yeah, sorry but not your decision Dr. Mengele.
Oh, a “task force” . . . with members from both political parties, no less. Sounds like a stall for time, because this is unlikely to do anything of consequence. The D’rats believe it their responsibility to see that anything which could possibly be useful will fail—and cause a lot more damage while it does so—all in hopes of damaging DJT.
If you want to restart the economy, rescind all of your idiotic restrictions and GTF out of the way.
From the Fox News article, not mentioned here:
Some even accused her of trying to stir backlash against the task force official in a tweet she made during the briefing.
“This is pure art. In her first tweet as soon as he said it, she insisted ‘some will find this language offensive’ and by the time she wrote her second tweet suddenly ‘many’ had already ‘found this language offensive.’ She discovered those many people awfully quickly,” writer A.G. Hamilton said.
Twitter is just another swamp with lots of Chi-na Tweet Farms.
My daughter decided when she was very small to call her grandfather “pop-pop”. I have no idea where she got it from, no one in our family has ever used the term before, but he liked it, and it stuck. We’re POP (people of palor).
My POP family as well.
At least it’s not “Corn Pop” – wait – do you suppose the grand kids called him “Corn Pop Pop” or “Pop Corn Pop”?
Get Yamiche a sandwich, I think her sugar is low.
Low blood sugar? That added to the extra 100 lbs she’s lugging around and sitting on her fanny day after day. She’s suffering from a guilt complex.
Methinks she suffers from a food court complex……
More likely a glut(ton) complex.
Does NPR hire anyone with conventional names anymore?
Not physically sick. She is just emulating mentors like James Acosta.
Maybe a Snickers…
Earlier in the week there was a photo accompanying a post that showed the interior of a NYC subway car. I noted that many in that photo were employing no personal protective gear (masks, gloves) and many had bare hands on straps and posts for balance (presumed reason on my part); obviously “social distancing” was not practiced. Also, many of those without protective gear were black, so behavior may be contributing to the NYC troubles, as well as infection rates among the non-white population.
I may be jumping to the wrong conclusion, but it appears that a population that is told it can do whatever it wishes, legal or otherwise, and suffer no negative responses, they just might decide its OK to ignore all law and regulation even when ignoring it is to their own detriment.
Infantile, obnoxious and totalitarian adolescent-narcissists — that’s what the Dhimmi-crat, water-carrying prostitute-propagandists in the MSM, are.
And, this twit works for PBS, getting paid handsomely (no doubt), on the taxpayer’s dime, for her efforts!
Yamiche is the very picture of what Adams is addressing. Obese, diabetic, respiratory problems.
That is why she is outraged.
Interesting article from Germany on a test of 1,000 patients.
“Let’s hope the Economic Task Force gets asked more serious and pertinent questions”
I love your optimism ???
I am noting if not optimistic.
A black man can speak ebonics and Spanish? Oh, the humanity!!!
Leslie: Brilliant. I am stealing “The Perpetually Offended”. It encapsulates the motivation of so many progressives and separates them from the whiners and complainers on the right.
Some use obeing offended as a weapon. Screaming “[something]ist!” is but one example.
Others aren’t happy unless they are miserable. I grew up around a particular ethnic group that I think holds the patent on being miserable about either nothing, or the inconsequential.
More like: “perpetually power-hungry lamebrains with nothing to offer but tyranny”.
Why are they alway FAT??
Those “perpetually offended” need to get a life.
