The Labor Department reported that 3.8 million Americans filed new unemployment claims last week.

About 30.2 million people have filed for claims since the Wuhan coronavirus caused states to shut down the economy six weeks ago.

The number of Americans went down from the previous report, which showed 4.4 million people filed new claims.

However, the number from last week could be higher since “only 21 states have updated their systems to begin cutting unemployment checks” to self-employed workers. They only received the ability to file for unemployment last month.

Plus other states have old-school systems, which cannot handle the traffic to the unemployment website.

The report comes a day after the Commerce Department found that “the U.S. economy shrank by 4.8 percent in the first three months of the year.”

Surprised! Not! Funny thing is that some some business employees are pissed the the small business took the loan, thus preventing them from getting more money on unemployment.
