Trump’s Fox News Wuhan Coronavirus Town Hall Broke Cable News Records

Though the mainstream media wants everyone to stop listening to President Trump’s Wuhan coronavirus outbreak updates, the American people are still tuning in.

Fox News conducted a virtual town hall on Tuesday with Trump and several members of the White House Coronavirus Task Force. It turned out to be the most watched town hall in the history of cable news networks, eclipsing another Trump town hall the network did earlier this month:

President Trump’s virtual town hall hosted by Fox News on Tuesday set a record as the most-watched town hall in cable news history with an average of 4.4 million viewers, the network announced Wednesday.[…]The 4.4 million who watched on Tuesday beat a record set just earlier this month, also by Trump and Fox News. The president’s March 5 town hall on the network was the then-highest rated in cable news history, reportedly hitting 4.2 million viewers at its peak.Fox News later saw an average of 4.7 million viewers during primetime coverage on Tuesday, it said, beating out MSNBC’s 3 million and CNN’s 2.3 million.

This is on top of the fact that the daily White House press briefings have also been a hit with millions of people, bringing in viewership numbers that are on par with the season finale of “The Bachelor” and Monday night NFL games.

Numerous polls released over the last week including this one from Gallup also show the American people approve of Trump’s handling of the Wuhan Coronavirus crisis. In fact, his overall approval ratings are now at record highs, which is a source of great frustration for a mainstream media that is used to setting all the narratives.

To complicate matters for the press corps is the news that their ratings, in contrast to Trump’s, are in the tank:

Americans are generally positive in their evaluations of how each of nine leaders and institutions has handled the response to the coronavirus situation. Eight of the nine receive majority positive ratings — led by U.S. hospitals, at 88% approval. Only the news media gets a more negative than positive review. These data are from a March 13-22 Gallup poll, with the field period starting on the same day President Donald Trump declared a national emergency over the coronavirus outbreak, and spanning sharp increases in the number of documented cases in the U.S., as well as the number of deaths.

By the numbers:

What these daily press briefings have shown those watching at home is not just how Trump and the task force are handling the crisis, but also how the White House press corps absurdly frames questions. I can’t imagine things like asking Trump “how many deaths are acceptable?”, if he’s giving people “a sense of false hope”, and obsessing over Trump’s use of the term “Chinese virus” have helped the media much in the court of public opinion.

The MSM’s worst nightmare has come true: In spite of the their best efforts to stifle his message, President Trump is getting through to the American people on the Wuhan Coronavirus outbreak. Nothing the media does, not even refusing to air the daily press briefings, is going to change that.

In case you missed it, here’s the Fox News town hall that aired earlier this week:
