ALERT: Coronavirus merges with Trump Derangement Syndrome

A pandemic tanking the stock market may be Democrats’ best hope for winning in 2020, and they can barely contain their glee

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZEWtekSP8M

The way things have been going, the economy was on target to remain powerful through Election Day 2020, giving Trump a strong likelihood of reelection. Reflecting that reality, a record percentage of Americans are satisfied with their lives.

Enter coronavirus and the potential for a pandemic that causes worldwide suffering and economic damage tanking the stock market and the U.S. economy. The Trump administration has been very proactive, even though China has rebuffed help, including just requesting $2.5 billion specifically targeted at coronavirus response.

Enter Trump Derangement Syndrome, where the number one priority is defeating Trump. And if devastation to the stock market due to coronavirus is needed, well, Democrats and media supporters are practically giddy at placing the blame on Trump.

The stock market plunged today! 2020 is looking better and better for Democrats.

Ted Lieu tried to blame Trump for cuts to the Centers for Disease Control that have not taken place and would not have affected coronavirus response anyway:

The Dow dropped significantly this morning because of the continuing spread of the coronavirus.

The @realDonaldTrump budget proposes cuts to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Retweet if you think cutting @CDCgov is really dumb.

Nancy Pelosi pushed the same theme — what we really need to worry about it unrelated proposed budget cuts to CDC:

Chuck Schumer blamed Trump for not having enough of a plan:

Joe Scarborough mocked claims that coronavirus was being weaponized politically, by weaponizing it against Trump:

Bette Midler flat out blamed Trump:

And this MSNBC legal contributor blamed Trump’s spending on the wall — as if not spending money on the wall would have prevented a virus that spread in China:

Never let a crisis go to waste, right?

Globalists crashing the economy again to benefit their selfish lusts?

Not going to happen.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. – Jeremiah 29:11-13

The sky is falling! The sky is falling! – Market goes down because of the perceived impact of the virus spreading around the world, but then again, how much of the trading is done by computers using algorithms that react as other computers react? The one weakness I see is that we stupidly let our medical supply production be offshored so that we are dependent on China. Just holding my breath because this too shall pass.

    notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to 94Corvette. | February 24, 2020 at 9:31 pm

The drop wasn’t even a nickel’s worth (much less than 5%) of what the total index high. I’m looking for it to break 30,000 this year!

notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital. | February 24, 2020 at 9:33 pm

      Side note:

I knew a New York City, Wall Street stock options trader and he made no qualms about admitting they deliberately manipulated stocks to benefit themselves.

and this drop in the market is a great buying opportunity, since it’s based on hype and panic, not reality.

Suppose – and I do not, but suppose – that the effects of the corona virus are severe enough to disrupt China’s economy. In that case, the US economy would actually *benefit* as tens of thousands of manufacturing jobs returned to this country from China, which could no longer be relied on. That would lead to a huge employment boom, not a crash. There would be some financial disruptions, of course, but they would be manageable.

notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to Tom Servo. | February 25, 2020 at 9:55 am

From what I’ve read this has the potential to re-locate about 90% of the medicine consumed currently in the U.S to U.S. manufacturers.

It could have a similar, but more immediate, effect on equity markets. If investors are pulling money out of China where are they going to put it, under their mattress? Where is the best “safe haven?”

The stock market is worse than an all-girls dorm full of freshmen when it comes to rumors and fear-mongering. There is no common sense to most of their reactions to world events, just fear. This will settle down and become a health issue. But we can see that even though the left has criticized Trump on every issue he has been dealt, he seems to end up on top and them with mud on the faces.

healthguyfsu in reply to inspectorudy. | February 25, 2020 at 12:17 pm

You’re partially correct, if you consider that the alpha “mean girls” are self-serving.

Market movers spread and concern-troll rumors just to benefit themselves and do the opposite to reassure and cheer when it also benefits themselves.

notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital | February 24, 2020 at 9:26 pm

You know…..it’s almost as though the virus outbreak was all planned between the Communist Chinese Government and the DEMS through collusion………

Snark, or not……

Navarro on Virus: Trump focused on moving supply chains to US

Bill Lee, chief economist at the Milken Institute points out the markets are reacting to the bad Iranian and Italian Health Systems, because after the virus being around since Nov or Dec of last year, it has now the virus has HIT Europe. The Market does not believe the EU can contain the virus.

Don’t worry professor, you’re retirement accounts will be up, up, up by election day!

Ms. Phang, I am pretty sure President Trump has never claimed that the Border Wall would keep out viruses.

Tom Servo in reply to DouglasJBender. | February 25, 2020 at 6:41 am

and of course, the worst possible response to a pandemic would be for the US to declare Open Borders!!! and invite in every plague victim in the world.

We. Are. Doomed.

No, wait!

Our Fourth Estate is spot on their job!

Unfortunately, they’re now a Fifth Column.

Fivers…

…screw all of them.

Nothing puts a spring in Democrats step more than dead bodies to dance on

The virus will probably go away in the next few weeks. The sick season, lack of sunshine, is almost over. It had an impact on China, but it doesn’t look like it’s going any further.

China has over 50 million people on lock-down.
You are required when outside of home to wear a mask.
Their economy is shut down.
You don’t do this over a cold.
Italy is infected, borders are closing.
8,000 under ” Self-Quarantine ” in California.
Less than 500 in this Nation even tested.
And it is under control.
Give it 3 or 4 incubation periods.
My friends, this is serious.

They want an epidemic. What are they doing to make it more likely? The CDC’s policies look like a good start.

Like, for example wanting to set up a “quarantine” facility in Costa Mesa (instead of the two disused SAC airbases first considered) on a disused school campus without answers to the following questions:

“So how, exactly, do you propose to get water, power, sewage and waste disposal service, and a few million other things there up and running, in 24 hours or less?”

” What’s your containment plan for this? The facility, in the middle of residential neighborhoods, is contiguous to high-density apartments and a public golf course, with two schools nearby….”

“So, if something – anything – happens there once you bring in the infected patients, and someone dials 9-1-1, how, exactly, did you contemplate we’re going to respond to the scene of a known international pandemic biohazard site?”

” What local hospital(s) will be co-operating with and assisting with care there?”

“How were you planning on dealing with the [tons of] biohazard waste?”

“How many people did you imagine you could put there, and for how long?”

“What’s your master plan for decon when and if the site is closed down?”

https://raconteurreport.blogspot.com/2020/02/top-men.html

The lack of answers won the City of Costa Mesa an injunction. The Feds objected in a breathtakingly stupid and arrogant manner:

OnTheLeftCoast in reply to OnTheLeftCoast. | February 25, 2020 at 11:56 am

The post was snarky; the reality is probably worse:

Those active COVID-19 patients off the cruise ship from hell that were sent to the US? That was a State Department official acting in defiance of explicit Presidential orders. #Resistance.

I’m sure if/when PDJT takes active measures, the democrats will cry about that too. Does anyone honestly believe if PDJT shut down all travel to/from China, the dems wouldn’t scream “RACISM/ZENOPHOBE” and run to the nearest leftist judge for an injunction? These people are sick.

McGehee in reply to CKYoung. | February 25, 2020 at 12:06 am

Of course not — if he’d done that it would’ve been attempting to steal the election.

Hell, I was surprised they didn’t impeach him for the booming economy.

The Press is very Anti Trump, and they will spin as much as possible to blame this on Trump.

I have been surprised at how aggressive Trump has been on dealing with the CoronaVirus. And what’s interesting, his actions have not been getting blow back for being too aggressive.

I was very impressed by the interview by Navarro on Fox, the White House Manufacturing and Trade Advisor. Hat Tip The Conservative Tree House.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nM0gDDKYDQ#action=share

My take away is Trump is focused on action and making sure the right actions are taken by the US with the CoranaVirus.

The areas of the US that are going to be affected by the collapse of exports from China are in Blue Areas, so I don’t see much of an impact on Trump’s electoral chances, especially if Bernie gets the Dem Nomination. The House, I see it as a long shot for the GOP to take it back with the voter BS that is law in CA, but I hope I am wrong.

Attacking the Wall is stupid, and I believe support for the Wall will grow. The CoronaVirus is going to destroy a lot of support for globalization and more immigration, and Trump has been fighting globalization supporters (Chamber of Commerce) left and right.

notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to Ray - SoCa. | February 25, 2020 at 10:02 am

2012 reports revealed that 93% of media people were Democrats then.

Sure it’s much higher now since that’s the way cults work – forever trying to be “purer.”

That big FOX Sunday morning guy, Chris Wallace, has been a registered Democrat his entire life.

Side note: Last month a report stated that of all college teachers who contributed to a political party, 97% had done so to the Democrats.

another perspective, with the tariff Pres Trump imposed didn’t it bring a lot of manufacturing back to the mainland, so we might not be as affected as the rest of the world that is dependent on China.

The Democratic party truly is the party of death (especially if you are unborn, old, the wrong race, vote the wrong way, think the wrong thoughts).

Was Trump’s CDC cut 16% or 19%?

The CDC seems too busy hectoring people to get flu shots that don’t work or vaccines for STDs for newborns, but there is a STD pandemic going on and has for years, yet no one including the CDC wants to talk about it.

This goes back before Bastiat who noted that just because you are against an education bureaucracy or ministry doesn’t mean you are against education (and these days are probably more pro-education, consider the look-say v.s. phonics debate earlier).

Flu shots work, just not the way you want them to. They protect populations rather than individuals.
While everyone is panicking over the new virus, flu kills a couple thousand people a day, year after year.

But the stock market was due to Obama…last week.

Did she forget this virus was first discovered in 2012.

I seem to remember Trump coming out early on and talking about how bad the virus was. The Leftist media claimed that he was just trying to cause panic to distract from impeachment and such. Looks like he was right again and they should have egg on their faces.

This is serious. The latent time on this virus can be up to twenty or more days before getting ill. A few of those days you are contagious before you show symptoms.

The worse news is WHO (World Health Organization) says that some people do NOT get sick but are carrying and spreading the virus. It is approximately twenty to thirty percent of people.

The good news is that most who die are over sixty in age. So the loss to the economy of people in critical jobs will be a lot less. I am almost 60, have lung damage from smoking when young and decades of industrial hazards exposure the 15% of people who get ill who have serious lung problems. About 2% of all who get ill die from it.

So this is going to get ugly. Who gets the blame for it may decide the election. Hell with going around shaking hands, and most candidates above 50, one or more of them could catch it and die. That’ll change the race.

    notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to Dwo888. | February 25, 2020 at 10:04 am

RE: “The good news is that most who die are over sixty in age.”

Really? Then that will wipe out about 85% of the DEMS base of crazy cat herding women. Snark.

Well I am close to 60, damaged lungs, and recently had quadruple heart bypass surgery. There is a scientific name for people like me. “Most Likely Dead Meat”.

I just hope if it attacks my lungs, I go fast. That is how it gets you. Rarely someone has the “Spanish Flu” lung overreaction where folks drown in their own lungs in under 24 hours. Those are the scary videos you see see on the Internet of folks laying there sick or near dead in the street or in a public place.

        notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to Dwo888. | February 25, 2020 at 2:49 pm

        Sorry to hear that Dwo.

I’m stuck once again about “how convenient” this “epidemic” is for the Communist Chinese Government which had revolting workers all over their mainland, and in Hong Kong. Oh so convenient for a government lockdown and…..

Data say you’re wrong about that by a huge margin.

Also, anyone who dies automatically changes party affiliation to Democrat.

So how do we get someone with coronavirus to walk through the democrat caucus?

(We can dream, can’t we?)

“A pandemic tanking the stock market may be Democrats’ best hope for winning in 2020, and they can barely contain their glee”

As if we did not already have enough, this is just more proof that the Communists – er, I mean the Democrats – don’t give a rat’s behind about the well-being of this nation or its citizens. Their motto is and has always been: Power and control, at any price, at any cost.

healthguyfsu in reply to chocopot. | February 25, 2020 at 1:22 pm

You make a good point, but I do think we are all guilty at this point.

I’m not saying that we are all the same. However, as a country, we are all so entrenched in our side of this political war that there are times when we would rather be right than have a good outcome when not in power.

The difference the media and Democrats both perpetuate a lack of self-awareness where they both believe in delusion that they are somehow objective and above such biases.

Have we all forgotten how well the Republicans used the Ebola epidemic to their advantage in the 2014 off-year elections? They savaged Obama’s handling of this situation ( with some merit). I don’t remember them using the epidemic to damage the economy however, they mainly emphasized Obama’s tepid response.

16000-40000 dead every year, in the US, from the common flu strains. Nobody cares. 40,000 dead, per year, from pneumonia. Nobody cares. Zero deaths from COVID-19, in the US, and suddenly it is the end of the world. Really?

This is manufactured crisis and blatant fear mongering. It is an election year and anything that can work against Trump will be trumpeted by the media, even if they have to make it up.

Never believe the CDC.

The CDC lies, perpetually. It’s as if that’s their job. They lied about HIV and anthrax and other illnesses and health issues.

Even yesterday guidelines came out on how to take off your protective gear and they offered two ways. The FIRST one they showed was to TAKE OFF YOUR GLOVES FIRST and then to use bare hands to remove everything else, and then you wash your hands. This is idiocy! Why expose your bare hands to the outside of the gown and mask and so to the virus.

Honest PSA: You ask a partner to untie he back of the gown (though if you tie it and tape it in a particular way you can untie it yourself) and then you remove your gear handling it from the outside with gloves, and then you pull of the gown turning it inside out in the process – while the gloves’ cuffs are still over the gown’s sleeves – and then pull the gloves off with the gown.

But I remember when in 1984 the CDC said – adamantly and eplicitly – that you can NEVER get HIV (then called HTLV-III) by a blood transfusion. They said you could ONLY get it if you engaged in homosexual activity multiple time over the course of years, OR be an illegal IV drug user OR be a Haitian.

Well, as one who knows a little about micro-biology I knew this was BS at the time. But in 1985 my first patient with HIV was a white straight family man who never touched drugs and got his illness from a BLOOD TRANSFUSION. And he was humiliated and mortified that that all his coworkers and and friends were being told by TV announcers – repeating the CDC – how the “experts” said he got it. And he sadly for his last year, refused friends and coworkers as visitors in his hospital room because he didn’t want to see the doubt and hesitancy on their faces.

The CDC only changed its line until after Arthur Ashe nearly a decade later.

This is what the CDC did by lying to cover up the dangers – and the communicability – of HIV.

And then with the anthrax scare, the CDC said that you could only get anthrax from tens or hundreds of thousands of bacilli in your body. And then more than a decade later, a CDC spokesman said, in passing, that of course it only takes one bacillus to contract anthrax.

These are just two examples.

Never believe the CDC.
